I arrived today at 3:45 pm and was told along with several others that our rooms were not ready. We were all informed that it would be another 45 to 60 minutes before we could get our rooms. I was asked for my phone number for them to call me when my room was ready. I had coke and crab cakes in their restaurant while waiting for my call, but it never they called me. By 5:15 pm, I went back to front desk and asked them about my room, which they said that it would be another 25 minutes, to which I asked what was the problem. They told me that it was a housekeeping matter. I waited for another 15 minutes in front of them before they gave me my room. After getting into my room, I unpacked and went to the bathroom to refreshen up. However, a man tried to enter my room, but thankfully, I had the slider flipped and the man couldn't get into my room. When he realized that I was in the bathroom, he appologized and said that front told him that my room was his, but he left. I called front desk to tell them how upsetting the experience was, but the guy was cold and hung up. Then a woman named Juliet called to appologize and said that it was housekeeping that made the error. How can it be a housekeeping error when it is front desk who assigns the rooms? The woman offered to comp me a free dinner but I already had plans with colleagues, so she said that they were going to give me a discount. I can't tell you how upsetting this has been for me and the fact that no one at the Sheraton seem to care except for the woman who reluctantly acknowledged what happened and that they would give me a small discount. This is not good customer service! Collapse

Hotel is clean and comfortable. Beds are very good. My room 1511 was right next to the elevator bank surprised me how quiet it was. Only knock was that the spout for the bath tub had foil holding it together. There is better value in town.

I stayed at this Sheraton during a business trip to Ottawa. After checking in, I spent five minutes in my room before I got a call from the front desk. The room I had booked was typical, two beds, full desk, and the rest. The front desk tells me that the air conditioning is not working in my room and asked if I mind them moving me to the 16th floor. I am pretty easy going and assumed that a hotel like the Sheraton would not downgrade me without explanation or some type of offer of compensation. So, I agreed without asking many questions. I trade keys and went to my new room. To my surprise, it turns out they are just giving me the living room portion of a parlour suite. ***I didn't have an actual bed, just a fold out sofa****. I thought these must have been a mistake and that I should have the bed portion available, but no such luck. It wasn't the end of the world. I suspect that could have raised a fuss and gotten moved again. But it was a long day and I didn't have it in me. Not the worst stay I have ever had, but doubt I'll ever try them again. Collapse

We chose to stay here for the Canada 150 celebrations, because of its very central location. The Club floor room was just average and the Club Floor Lounge food was even more disappointing compared to other Sheraton hotels in Europe, South America, etc. For breakfast we were sent to a temporary set up on the 2nd Floor. Needless to say that the choice/selection of food was very limited and served on plastic plates with plastic cutlery. This is not what we expected out of "Sheraton". Collapse

I reached Platinum level last January and this was my first stay at a Starwood hotel since I got to that level , it did not go as well as hoped and most of this review will only be interesting to other Platinum members. Basically one of the worst check-in experience I have ever been thru : When I made my reservations I looked at the standard room amenities for my room on the hotel's web-page and saw "In-Room Electronic Safe" What they actually mean by that (if you read the fine print) is "Non-Standard amenities that you might find only in certain rooms that cost more" And even that is not the truth because when I got to my Club-level (an upgrade) room , I found no safe . I called reception and was told that there are no rooms at all in the hotel with a safe but they will put one in my room . So someone brought up a safe : a box that they simply dropped in the closet with nothing to secure it , so anyone could leave with it . No at all secure. At check-in , the woman at the Gold/Platinum desk - Did not give me lounge access - Did not ask what I wanted as my Platinum welcome gift - Did not give me HSIA - Did not provide any info about lounge or hotel services - Upgraded me but did not bother telling me - Did not ask for ID to get my age for the PayAge rate I had booked - Changed my room from 2 Doubles to a King - Promised 500 pts for the inconvenience with safe , did not get those I also did not get my bonus points for the TakeThree promotion (registered in May) My luck with Ottawa hotels is truly abysmal , anybody have a suggestion for next year (non Marriot and non Starwood) Collapse
