Just stayed at the Sheraton on a 4 day trip to NOLA. Hotel was great and the staff was amazing. We ate in the bar and the food was great. The location is good. It was a very short walk to the french quarter and other local attractions. My only negative was that our floor was dirty. We were on the 19th floor and the hallway was always filthy, there were even dirty glasses that were in the hall our whole stay. I feel like housekeeping needed to do a better job on that common area. Otherwise everything was great and i would certainly stay again. Collapse

In town for a week of business meetings. First- checking into the hotel on Tuesday and there is no power, no water, no bathrooms- but you got two nifty glow sticks to sit in your room- with no AC- for the evening. Second- Forget getting documents or packages being sent to you. They don't go to the hotel and to your room so you can pick them up before or during your meetings. They go to the Fedex/UPS office by the lobby...where you pay $10 per package for you to get your own materials. IF- you can convince the desk person to call the loading dock younger person to then decide if he is going to make you wait 15-20 minutes or longer to actually get up and walk the 150 feet to bring your packages to you- that you were forced to pay for. Nice hotel? It was. It's big and tall but the people, inconveniences and the 'don't ask us to be helpful' attitude adds up to- Spend your money on a better hotel- you deserve it. Collapse

A "relaxing getaway" this was NOT! After working overtime for days in preparation for a conference at this hotel, I arrived in hopes of being able to rest at the end of the 10-14 hour days that I worked during my 5 day stay at this Sheraton. I needed my room to be a safe, clean, comfortable refuge. Instead everything looked and felt grimy: the bed coverlet was wrinkled and had stains on it as did the armchair. A drop of what appeared to be blood was on a pillowcase. The room was VERY dusty. I don't have allergies but experienced nasal congestion & sneezing while in the room & especially when the A/C came on. There was an accumulation of dust, dirt and other stuff along the baseboards and behind the furniture...one thing looked like it could have been a carcass of something (about 5" long. see photo). Room service could not get my order right. Plus I was initially charged for a small pot of coffee because room service, I was later told, only includes one (1) cup of coffee for a breakfast which included coffee & juice. The servers in the restaurant as well as those for room service had very dirty aprons and often unkempt, dirty attire. I ate the meals for the final 2 days at the Starbucks in their lobby (which closes too early!). Near the end of my stay at this Sheraton, I returned to my room about 11:15 in the evening to find that my door had been opened and left slightly ajar. (A few minutes later, I heard the guests in the room next door exclaim their door also was open upon their arrival.) At this point, I could not check out soon enough. In spite of this seemingly nightmare stay, the staffs' customer service has improved dramatically from my previous stay (about 3 years ago)!! Special thanks to Ms. Geraldine at the check-in/check-out desk, LaQuita in the Roux restaurant, Cara in the FedEx store and two operators who took my room service orders between 10pm and 1am!! These ladies made me feel like I was a welcomed guest and listened to my complaints when things turned out otherwise. I stay at Starwood properties when I can and generally like their hotels, the amenities and the service. The Sheraton New Orleans was a bad experience. Collapse
Filthy room. Grubby room with a vile smell.

The whole point to staying in a hotel is having somewhere comfortable to sleep. That's it really. Of course the food is important to some, having a pool, a gym, etc are required by some also. But if the sleep isn't comfortable, then it's not fit for purpose. Now, we were booked in here for a week, for a conference so we had no choice but to stay. But I have to say, I'd have moved out if I had had the choice. We stayed in a room that had 2 double beds in, a great view and was very bright with a nice floor to ceiling window overlooking Canal street. As we walked in the door the first thing that greets you is the broken door stop lying on the floor and a hole in the wall (see pics). and the dust! every corner/edge of the room/carpet was filthy (see pics). Then you go into the bathroom and there is wall paper hanging off, the basin is badly cracked and as you reach for the toilet paper you have to look at excrement around the toilet roll holder (see pics). My wife was at the conference and I was mainly working from the room. So 2 days I didn't want to be disturbed, but the rest of the week I could watch first hand as the service staff pretty much attempted to dodge any part of the cleaning that they could. I constantly had to help my self from the trolley as they persistently didn't renew the drinks/towels/soaps etc. But to my knowledge they didn't vacuum the floor once in the whole week. But to be honest, as you can see in the pics,I don't think they vacuum much at all. They only changed the bedding once. The air con worked ok. The bed was pretty good. Comfortable enough. The pillows were dreadful though. Now, when you book in, do not let them put you anywhere near the lifts. We were at least 30 yards away and the noise was dreadful all night. I thought it was an air con firing up all the time, but no, its the extremely loud 8 lifts that are pretty much up and down 24/7. I just didn't sleep well at all. The first time I used the shower was fun. I couldn't get the bath to drain. It took well over an hour to fully drain. Which accounted for the dreadful staining in the bath it self, it was disgusting. I wouldn't have sat in it. The bathroom in general was a bit grubby. So to the hotel itself. Breakfast isn't included though there is a full buffet breakfast at $23 a head. The bar area in is great. A lot of money has been spent on the foyer of course. It's wonderful. Shame the same sort of attention is given to the rooms. We had some cocktails and a couple of simple bar meals. One was ok, the other time the meal got to us and it was cold, so I sent it back and asked for my money back as we had to leave. The smell at the bottom of the lifts was rancid. I asked a member of staff what it was and she said she didn't know. But it was there every day of our stay. Every time we got out the lift it hit you like a hammer. You have to remember this is a $275 a night hotel. I spoke to one of the reception staff about the damage in our room. But nothing was done. Bare in mind the photo's that I took where taken the afternoon we checked in. So all in all not great..........but even after all that, nothing could have prepared me for the what I found under that bed on the last day when doing my "has anything rolled under the bed" last check.......I left it on the bed for the cleaning staff to see......without a tip........disgusting..
