I always choose Starwood hotel brands. I was lucky enough to have a conference held at the Sheraton in NOLA. This hotel is beautiful. I highly recommend the executive suites. The rooms are large and cozy and the views are spectacular! The executive lounge breakfast and dinner (included) are amazing! The food is top notch and very convenient. The service at the Sheraton is outstanding. I was extremely impressed with Kyler and Joy who both went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. My only critique would be that I do not enjoy the unique elevator set up. You type in your floor and then you are directed to the elevator for your floor. It led us on a goose chase more than once. Also the gym and pool is a bit lackluster and could use some updating. However, the gym did do enough to serve its purpose. I am just used to a higher standard from the Sheraton brand. Collapse

The hotel location is great, close to everything in downtown NOLA; and that is the only thing good about it. Otherwise, rooms are every basic and cleanliness is not the best. The most mediocre service came from housekeeping. Upon arrival, the bed was not neatly made and pillows were like thrown on the bed. I was offered free internet but other guests seem not to have that privilege. In addition, because I booked a discounted rate, they did not honor my Gold status and therefore I did not get to use my benefits including access tot he lounge. The staff that I can commend is the valet parking, they provided an excellent service and always brought my car on time. Overall, if I have to stay in downtown NOLA again, I would choose another hotel, not this one. Collapse

Stayed here for 3 nights this time. Ended up with a river view on the 24th floor. Nice room with very comfortable beds. No couch or sofa in room. No refrigerator or microwave either. These are items that are pretty standard at cheaper hotels. You can ask for or a refrigerator, we just didn't want to hassle with it. We brought a cooler and just got ice from ice machine as needed. On the upside this hotel is a easy walk to many new Orleans attractions. The streetcars are also easily accessible for reaching attractions a little further out (like the zoo). Cute little outside pool on 8th floor. Very nice workout room available. Collapse

I stayed at the Sheraton New Orleans for a work conference. I arrived at the hotel well before check-in (around 11 AM, I believe) and was able to check-in immediately. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and provided me with a brief overview of the hotel, including instructions on how to use the elevators before providing me with my room key. At first, I thought this was a little odd, but I completely understood why once I reached the elevators. Instead of pressing an up or down arrow, there is a number panel where you type in the floor that you're going to. The panel then tells you which elevator will take you to your destination. The elevators on most floors were clearly labeled and each floor had a list of common areas (conference rooms, pool, fitness center, restaurants, etc.) so that I could quickly look up the floor of my destination. I thought it was pretty cool while some others found it to be a nuisance. I had a king room on the 36th floor with a view of the river. It was a very pretty view, especially early in the morning as the sun was rising as I was getting ready to go to my sessions for the day. There was certainly plenty of storage space for at least 2 people and the bathroom had a rather large vanity area as well. I enjoyed my single cup coffee maker each morning, along with the hairdryer and safe provided by the hotel. While breakfast and lunch were provided by the conference (and the food was definitely very good), I did eat at Roux Bistro one morning. Service was a little slow and the waitress was not inclined to engage in conversation with me (I was eating alone) but was more than inclined to engage with her phone and colleagues. Nothing irks me more than someone on their phone when they are at work. Luckily, the Pelican Lobby Bar more than made up for the sub-par service in the restaurant! The bartenders were engaging and really funny. They also provided excellent dinner recommendations and provided me with all of the Zapps potato chips that I wanted (along with advice on where to purchase some bags to take home). The price of the food and drinks in the restaurant was standard, when you consider that the hotel is very centrally located in a large tourist destination, but I still can't help but to deflate a little when paying $15 for one glass of red wine and $20 for breakfast (both including tip). I used the fitness center every day (which was HOT) and I was pretty disappointed to see that the pool was VERY tiny with only about 20-30 chairs around it. If I had visited this hotel with children, I definitely would not have been pleased. As mentioned over and over in previous reviews, the location of the hotel really can't be beat! It is a block away from Bourbon Street and if you feel like meandering in and out of all of the side streets in the French Quarter, you are bound to find delicious food at every turn! I became obsessed with red fish, which I had never eaten before, and although I routinely paid $30 - $40 for dinner and a glass of wine (or 2 if it was happy hour and buy one, get one!) in the French Quarter, the portion sizes were just unbelievable and I was never left wanting for more. The hotel was also within easy walking distance to Harrah's hotel and casino and about a 15 minute walk to Jackson Square, close to the famous beignets. Although I was by myself, I stayed with the crowds and felt comfortable walking around on my own during daylight hours. However, once nightfall came, I was sure to stay at the hotel. Quick tip: if you choose to take part in their program where you decline housekeeping services to earn a food voucher, you have to go to the front desk every day to claim that food voucher. I would hang the door tag every night before going to bed, but I never had any food vouchers in my room. On my last full day/night at the hotel, I mentioned this to the gentleman at the front desk and he provided me with ONE food voucher. I'm all about helping the environment and what not, but if you're going to advertise a reward, it should be delivered by housekeeping as they are skipping over your room. Regardless, I would recommend this hotel to those in town for business or those who are with a group of adults to enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer! Collapse

I stayed in an extremely nice, large king room with river view away from elevators, which could be noisy. The hotel was very secure with a guard checking badges near the elevators in the later hours. The hotel had a fitness facility, outdoor heated pool, and a Starbucks in the hotel. Despite lacking a few amenities (no refrigerator/microwave or free WiFi), I would definitely stay here again as the hotel was great and the location was superb for sightseeing around New Orleans.
