Had a lovely family get together here before Storm Ophelia broke. Bedrooms are beautiful, staff go the extra mile for you. Dinner was fantastic. You get a sense that you really are staying somewhere special. All in all a very memorable stay.

I first visited Sheen Falls in 2005 and my husband and I returned in 2017. I had wonderful memories of my first trip and expected our 6 nights at Sheen to be the highlight of the trip. The experiences we had in the region were indeed the highlights but staying at Sheen was not. Other than cosmetic changes to the guest rooms (new furniture) nothing had changed. This is both good and bad. The hotel grounds continue to be stunning, the main areas of the hotel are comfortable and cozy, and the activities are out of this world (HIGHLY recommend falconry). However, service was merely ok. Service in the restaurant is exceedingly slow, even by European standards. For example, expect breakfast to take at least an hour even though it is half buffet and half a la carte (with only 5 a la carte options). We often at dinner in the bar, rather than the main dining room, and consistently felt forgotten. Guest relations were wonderful and prompt in clearing up a minor snafu with our reservations but seemed unable (or unwilling) to accommodate any other requests. For example, 2 months prior to our visit, following instructions on their own website, I emailed to ask for help in arranging several activities and excursions. No response. 2 weeks before arrival I again emailed and again no response. 2 days before arrival I tried again with the same results. During this time, however, I received at least 4 offers to book reservations at their restaurant (NOT something I was asking for). when we arrived at the hotel, I approached the front desk to ask for assistance on scheduling things and was (1) referred to the spa to schedule falconry, (2) chided for not trying to book an excursion to Skellig Michael earlier, and (3) asked if I wanted to make dinner reservations. Eventually, the front desk agreed to try to call someone about a trip to Skellig Michale and when we followed up hours later, we again got chastised, talked to like we didn't know that it was difficult to get out there, and told that we should have pre-booked. Needless to say, they were not helpful at all and made it clear that we were making unreasonable requests (even though their website offers to help with all of these things). Next time we visit Kenmare, we will definitely stay at another hotel as there are other 4 star hotels (worthy of the stars) and better values in the area. Collapse

I stayed here with my Mum to visit family in the area. We had a spacious twin room that easily fit our TWO double beds. The views over the lake were stunning and we were very looked after by the super friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious both the buffet and items ordered from the menu. I had an hour long facial in the spa that left me glowing (the fruit infused water in the spa is worth grabbing if your in the hotel - so refreshing!) We also rented bikes from reception which was a highlight of our stay. Would recommend! Collapse

My husband and I moved to Ireland last December, and in the time since we've been able to experience quite a few hotels around the country, both as a couple and when family has visited. Out of the many places we've stayed so far, Sheen Falls Lodge remains one of my favorites. We spent one night with family in April after driving around the Dingle Peninsula that day, and it was the perfect place to stay for the location, the beautiful grounds, the service and the food. We booked a one night package that included a four course dinner in The Falls restaurant and breakfast the next morning. When we checked in we were upgraded to a room with a view of the falls, and I loved having the window open that night and hearing the falls. After settling into our rooms we met up for pre-dinner drinks on the terrace outside the bar right next to the river and falls which ended up being my favorite spot on the property. Dinner was amazing, and we went back out to the terrace for post-dinner drinks to enjoy the peaceful setting again. Breakfast the next morning was also good, and we were able to take a long walk around the grounds before checking out. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we had had more time to experience some of the activities offered. I would definitely recommend staying at Sheen Falls Lodge if you have the chance. Collapse
