We fulfilled our wish to stay overnight in Sheen Falls Lodge one Friday night in Mid November. (Opens only at weekend in Winter.) We were attracted by an offer of €153. We found it to be a warm welcoming place with staff who worked hard to make us welcome. Also absolutely spotless with a premium quality ambience. We dined from the limited bistro menu. Very creamy chowder, rather soggy monkfish scampi, glass of French red house wine. My wife chose smoked salmon salad to start and grilled Salmon which was 'a bit dry' Bill came to just north of €82 which was a little stiff for the quality presented. Our overall bill for BB and dinner and a premium Jameson whiskey came to €229. Collapse

Arrived early evening by car. Entered reception to be greeted by very welcoming staff, checking in was quick and efficient and were told that our luggage would be taken from the car to our room and the car would be moved to the car park, great, as it was raining fairly hard. Met up with 6 other friends for a mid-week break, and probably disturbed the quite ambiance of the hotel, sorry !! Booked a table in the restaurant for 9:15 and went to our room to freshen up and change. Our luggage was there to meet us, as we were told it would be. The room was large, it had to be as the bed was massive, clean and tidy as to be expected from a 5* hotel with fluffy robes and slippers provided. The en-suite was equally large, boasting gold fittings, twin sinks and a foot wash, well who really uses a bidet ?? and Elemis toiletries, which look equally nice at home ! Forgot to tell reception that the iron in the room did not work (220). Went down to dinner to be met with welcoming and accommodating staff. As with all luxury hotels, I don't always find the menus that appealing. Don't get me wrong, I am not a meat and 2 veg person but I do tend to find that they go over the top on some dishes, not to my taste, but may well be to others. Therefore, ordered off the bistro menu, choosing the monkfish scampi, good choice it was well cooked and the portions were good. Again, would like to have had 2 courses but the menu only had soup as a starter, perhaps a couple of other dishes could be added. That said, everyone enjoyed what they chose and all the plates were empty when finished. Good wine selection, possibly a little pricey, but we were staying in a luxury hotel. Used the wellness centre, pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, all were clean and tidy and the steamer chairs were comfortable. We all chose to do the clay pigeon shooting, again, in my opinion, a little pricey at 60 euros per person which equates to 480 euros for a little over an hour for 3 turns each with roughly 18 shots each. On the second full day we did the "Ring of Kerry" with David from Wild Atlantic Kerry Tours, as I have posted a separate review for this, I will not expand too much, only to say that we all enjoyed the day. When we returned back to the hotel, none of us really wanted to eat in the restaurant as we had had lunch out. Were offered the bistro menu and told that we could eat in the public area around the roaring open fire. Again, this did not appeal, so asked if we could just have sandwiches or snacks, the reply.....of course you can, nothing appeared to be too much trouble. All in all an excellent 3 night stay, would love to come back and would recommend the hotel without hesitation. Collapse

Third visit to this great establishment! Was recognized and warmly welcomed back by many of the staff. Especially : Sarah and Gillian (reception), Tim and Joe (thanks for the funnel), Roza (spa). And a very big thank you to Jer who helped me fix a water globe and provided me with a comfy bottle crate (the things that we guests ask for!) Room, meals, spa - as usual, beyond compare! Looking forward to my next visit! Collapse

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay here recently and had a brilliant time. We started with afternoon tea and were really impressed with the quality of the food and the value it offered. The staff were attentive and offered us our choice of rooms to have the afternoon tea and it was really lovely. We had an absolutely beautiful room overlooking the falls. So beautiful, that we decided to order room service to properly enjoy it. Food and service was good. We were disappointed that the bar stopped serving food so early, and as we had an afternoon tea, we didnt really want a big dinner in the dining room. Dining options were a little more limited than I would like. The spa and pool area were fine. A bit small and run of the mill. Childrens swimming lessons were going on in the pool while we were there, which did little to help us relax but its no big deal. Breakfast was fine - lots of options. However, my poached eggs were very overcooked and I asked for fresh ones. They took quite awhile and in the meantime, the remainder of my breakfast went cold and was not offered to be replaced. Overall, it was a great stay. Small touches could have improved the stay a little but its definitely a spot for relaxation. Staff are incredible and the location is perfect. Collapse

We stayed in the Garden Cottage which is adjacent to the property of the lodge. The cottage was fantastic with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting area. The cottage, along with the other villas, are all on the waterfront with lovely views. The lodge, villa and natural surroundings were truly wonderful and perfectly complemented by the very friendly and helpful staff. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely return.
