Welcome to Seaview House Hotel, a delightful 4 star country house hotel set in private and well tended grounds in the quiet village of Ballylickey beside Bantry in the heart of West Cork. Ideally located in the countryside but just 4 km from Bantry Town and a short-hop to Glengarriff in an area famed for its tranquillity and unique beauty, this lovely country house hotel is charm and character personified and is a welcome retreat for the leisure and business traveller alike. Located near Ballylickey Bridge over the Ouvane River it commands wonderful views of Bantry Bay from the main rooms. With a wealth of leisure and sporting activities on our door step, it’s the perfect spot to refresh body and soul... come and experience our piece of heaven.
Sleep comes easily in our beautiful and luxurious guest bedrooms which exude tasteful elegance and homely comfort. Each of the generously large and spacious 25 rooms including family rooms and mini suites are individually furnished with fine antiques and charming country house touches. Some rooms come with sea views across the bay, others overlook the lovely landscaped tropical gardens and some are also located on the ground floor to facilitate wheelchair access. You won't find such luxury elsewhere among hotels in Bantry, or indeed among West Cork accommodation in general.
Come and enjoy the intimate atmosphere in the delightful nooks and crannies of the main dining room or dine in the lofty light-filled conservatory restaurant, overlooking the gardens, set with polished mahogany tables and crisp linen. In summer when the weather allows we often serve tea and coffee outside - a very pleasant way to end a day at Ballylickey. The restaurant, a popular dining venue with guests and locals, is well known for superb cuisine based on country house cooking using fresh local produce, complemented by a well stocked wine cellar with carefully selected fine wines. Our dinner menu with options from two to five courses, changes daily with plenty of local specials such as Bantry Bay crab or West Cork lamb.

Kathleen runs a truly beautiful hotel and restaurant. The hotel itself is full of antiques which I could have spent the evening looking at. Mary looked after us in the restaurant and really couldn't have done anymore for us. The food was clearly high quality and cooked to perfection! I would highly recommend anybody in the area to go in as you won't be dissappointed! Collapse

My wife and I decided to visit Ireland after our daughter's wedding, and our daughter and new husband treated us to a dinner at Seaview House. The hotel has old-world charm and the restaurant, if dated, has that same charm. The grounds of the hotel are wooded, and located just off Bantry Bay. Service was attentive, but subdued, and the food was quite good and a good value, for a special occasion. Collapse
For the price, it should have been better.

Now don't get me wrong, the Seaview House is not a bad hotel but, on our recent trip to Ireland, we stayed in three hotels and the Seaview House was both the most expensive and least satisfactory of the three. But let's start with the positives. The breakfasts were some of the most varied and well-prepared of any hotel at which we've stayed. The service was very friendly, and we had a lovely view (through the rain!) from our room at the front of the hotel, although I doubt whether any room actually has a view of the sea. We didn't have dinner or make use of the bar, so can't comment on those facilities. Other reviewers have complained about the WiFi but, in fairness, the hotel didn't advertise this facility. However, in this day and age, a hotel of this supposed standard should really provide it. The lounge bar, in the Ouvane Falls across the road, does. The hotel advertises tea and coffee making facilities but these weren't in our room when we arrived. They were provided when we asked for them but we got the impression that this was the normal procedure. Our greatest gripe was in the bathroom. I just couldn't get a hot enough temperature in the bath, and the pressure in the shower virtually disappeared if our next door neighbour decided to shower at the same time. So, to sum up, the Seaview is full of old-fashioned charm but, in the 21st. century, this isn't enough. Collapse

We recently stayed in this hotel and we brought my mother in law!(MIL) We booked a suite for us and a room for her. When we checked in my MIL was upgraded. The whole experience from check in to check out was extremely pleasant . The staff are very friendly and a special mention to Mary who looked after us so well and made sure we got a great table in the restaurant. The rooms are comfortable if a little dated, but really that is in keeping with the athmosphere of the hotel. I was fascinated with all the different sitting areas and the beautiful lladro that was placed all around. We went for a drive to Bantry after checking in and returned for tea and fresh cakes. The owner came to welcome us which was a very nice touch. We decided to stay in the hotel for our evening meal and that was a good decision. I won't say that it was cheap, but we did get good value. Next morning we got up early for breakfast and got the lovely table again. Breakfast was also excellent and again the staff were most courteous. We noticed lots of personal touches around the hotel and in the restaurant. This gave us lots to chat about. My MIL was totally delighted with this hotel so much so that she is eager to return asap. And yes, we will return for another excellent visit. If you normally go to modern hotels I suggest you try this one out for a totally unique experience. Collapse

This hotel was a revelation. It is owned and managed by a marvellous person who makes sure that her guests are comfortable and well cared for. The staff are caring and friendly and a hot water bottle was even provided for my elderly mother at night. We were thoughtfully placed next door to my Mother on the ground floor. Our room and bathroom were enormous. Every where is decorated in a comfortable, homely and eclectic style. The food is delicious with a varied menu and breakfast was the best I've ever had. This is another place we look forward to returning to. Collapse
