Positano is not a cheap place to visit. Most of the hotels in Positano are rather old (or "charming") and overpriced. Hotel Savoia is a 2-3 star hotel that will cost you 200-260 euro/night during busy season and that price was reasonable since the view from the junior suite was spectacular. You will get to see the picturesque Positano AND the water that you always see from postcards or instagrams from 2-3 balconies in your junior suite. The room felt rather old and the wifi was only working mainly in the lobby. I am actually fine with the fact that the wifi was lacking as this will allow you enjoy Positano fully without having to check work email 24/7. Location was great as you can walk to the charming shops and plenty of restaurants without 1,000 steps hike if you stay in the villas. The staffs were highly efficient and friendly. Breakfast was very dull but the coffee was excellent. I would highly recommend Hotel Savoia if you want something close to downtown with nice view and a step above airbnb. Collapse

This hotel has everything going for it. Location - situated in the main part of Positano right near the bus stop, it is perfect because you can still drive to the hotel ! No dragging suitcases up or down hills or stairs because it's a pedestrian only zone (much of Positano). Five minute walk to the main beach, five more minutes to Turnillo. Rooms - beautiful big rooms which are exceptionally clean. Great bathroom, great wifi and if you're lucky (or smart enough to request it) the most AMAZING view of Positano and the water Breakfast - was included in our package, lots of variety and good quality. One of the best breakfasts in Italy so far. Negatives? None !! Collapse

Positano is hands-down my favorite city in the world - I've traveled here 3 times in the last 4 years. So it was only fitting to celebrate my upcoming nuptials and share this wonderful city with my closest friends. I've previously stayed at Hotel Villa Gabrisa and Hotel Posa Posa, both on the opposite side of the beach and further up from the center. However, this time around, I did not want to subject my friends to hundreds of steps (and dollars) after traveling halfway across the world for me and Hotel Savoia fit the bill. We reserved 2 rooms and were 3 girls to a room. The rooms were spacious enough to more than accommodate us and it came out to $100/night per girl --- in Positano!! -- you simply cannot beat that. Upon checking in, I do have to say that the young man at the reception was great - very personable, always smiling, helped us to make several restaurant recommendations and provided instructions when needed. During my time there I observed him or the woman that also covered the desk to always be found assisting guests or just being hospitable and chit-chatting with them. They are energy conscious, so you do have to ask them to turn the A/C on for you when you retire to the room. Luckily they do not give you any hassle with respect to this and the room is quick to cool down. Definitely an A+ for hospitality. Something else worth noting - the hotel has a small elevator that made it easier to take the luggage up to the room, which was a huge help. As the hotel is located slightly back and tucked into the town, you may be stretching your neck for that picturesque water and duomo view depending on the room assigned. Both rooms we reserved had different sized balconies and views. My room had a small step out balcony, but a fantastic view, the other room on the third floor was the reverse with a large balcony, but the view was mostly of the town. Still beautiful in it's own right, but you would need to twist your neck to see more of the water. The decor of the rooms were sparse, but they are typical of what I've seen in Positano - clean and simple with beautifully tiled floors throughout the hotel and rooms. Breakfast at the hotel was... your standard continental breakfast. Not exciting, but it gets the job done and is always a nice inclusion. During our stay we did not experience any issues with the wi-fi and I had no issues sending a few work related emails (WHY I was working in Positano is a story for another day...). Where this hotel REALLY SHINES is in the location! Takes the medal here. If you exit the hotel and make a right, you are 5 minutes from the beach and city centre with a must-stop for lemon granita along the way, or follow the road up Via Pasitea and visit the local shops. If you make a left - Le Sireneuse and Franco's Bar are a quick 3 minute walk. Pop in for a cocktail and soak up this view. Another 5 minutes and you'll reach la sponda bus stop if you intend to hike the Path of the Gods. Another 3 and you'll reach Casa Mele -- Arguably the best restaurant in Positano. You'll also find the stairs to take you down to Music on the Rocks should you fancy a night out... this was a bachelorette after all!! I would definitely recommend this hotel, particularly to families or small groups as it checks all the boxes. Collapse

My wife and I stayed here for the 2 nights we were in Positano, and we were honestly blown away by how amazing it was! First of all, when you arrive, you are greeted by one of the friendliest staffs you can find. You can tell the hotel is family-owned and operated because the family-feel is present immediately. I had multiple interactions with the staff during my stay, and every single person was personable and friendly. We bought a souvenir in Positano that needed to be shipped back to our home in America, and Claudia and Piera were both so helpful and responsive with the shipping process via the local courier that it felt like they were shipping one of their own packages rather than mine. Even after returning home to America they were in constant communication with me to ensure the shipment went smoothly. They even helped me find the brand of coffee they serve after I told them I missed it having here at home! I cannot say enough about how great the staff is here! The rooms in this hotel are amazing. We had a view of the village from our room and a great view of the water from the balcony (see pics). Our room was large with high ceilings and ceramic floors which easily authenticate the feel of the Mediterranean coast. The bathroom amenities were first-class. Many hotels in Europe have small bathrooms, but not here. The space was large, the complimentary soaps/shampoos were first-rate, a hair dryer is provided, and the shower had 3 different faucets. Of all of the hotels I've stayed in Europe, this is by far the most comfortable one that I have had the pleasure of staying. We had breakfast both mornings we were there. The breakfast is excellent! The large dining area overlooks the village and has fantastic views. There is a patio if you wish to eat outside. As is expected in Italy, the coffee here is world-class, and they have a barista prepare your own personal pot of coffee if you desire. Breakfast is served buffet-style. The selection of breakfast pastries (the chocolate chip croissants are incredible!), meats and cheeses, and other breakfast staples is excellent and always fresh. Overall, I could not imagine staying anywhere else in Positano. My wife and I had such a great time in this resort village by the sea and it's mostly because of the elegant, comfortable, and friendly stay we were lucky to have had at this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying on the Amalfi coast, and I cannot wait to come back! Collapse
