We paid an arm to stay at the hotel for New Year's Eve and all they have is the location of building. Rooms are old, dated and lack of maintenance. There are various signs where guests crashed their luggage and they don't care. The impression of dirtiness of room is constant. In front of our room, staff left trash, not paper, but trash from the bathroom of the room in front of ours, which was being cleaned. Bathroom trash stayed there in the corridor for a long time, in front of the elevator, together with cleaning kit of staff. The reception acts like that (in particular the women, not the men): you are in Venice so you shut up, we don't care... if you don't come we will have other people to fool. They don't say anything rude, they just act like that. In my reservation I had to fight for a bottle of EUR7 Prosecco as a honeymoon courtesy. It's literally written on my reservation that "for honeymoon we do nothing". NOTHING! We had welcome drink and excursion to Murano per our reservation. We forgot and they did not say a thing. By the time I realized we lost our excursion to Murano thanks for laziness and bad service of staff. All mattresses are horrible quality and single, put in two to make an improvised double bed, or should a say double bad? It's terrible and uncomfortable. We were ready in breakfast to face bad things. Actually croissants are not bad, close to French version - not Italian. Juice, water and coffee machine and the worst possible quality that you find in amusement parks and cruises: dirty water mixed with paint to make coffee and syrup mixed with dirty water to make juice. Luckily we were ready due to TripAdvisor and we did not take. So you are in Italy and you can't have a decent coffee at your hotel's breakfast...how disgraceful! Their maps are confusing and almost useless. Cordiality of staff is different: men and much nicer than women. Wifi is inconvenient, confusing, with an enormous code and you will have to connect every time. We booked through VeryChic.com and feel fooled. The price we paid make us feel like clowns to date. The only positive point is the location: no need even of Vaporetti; you can do everything by taking a good and nice walk. Ah, important: I tried to book restaurant for New Year's Eve and trey sent me a super expensive menu from a restaurant of which they made a deal of course. I asked more suggestions and they never gave. They told that when I arrived at the hotel I would have suggestions for "normal" dinner, not the one expensive of New Year's Eve. Arriving at the hotel they tried to fool me with other 3/4 restaurants, which were offering even more expensive menus and prices. We are also Italians and they tried to fool us proposing desert with Pandoro with mascarpone translating as a "traditional Italian Christmas dessert". We feel sorry for foreign people and tourists who are trapped by this crap. And all sponsored by the hotel! We had to lose a lot of time calling places to be able to eat on 31.12. Thanks for lazy, terrible, deceiving service of the hotel! Save your money, health and don't be a fool, go somewhere else! Collapse

The hotel is a tastefully decorated former convent. It was difficult to find, like most things in Venice, and the hotel's description of how to get there was poor. The room was large but with some odd elements - there were no bedside tables so we kept our watches, glasses and money in our shoes by the side of the bed. There were 2 hotplates and a sink over the 'fridge, but the taps had no running water. Good and reasonably priced bar but in 4 days we only saw 2 other couples there. Staff attentive. Collapse

We, I & my wife, stayed at the Santa Marina Hotel for two nights prior to boarding a cruise ship from Venice. We arrived in Venice at the Marco Polo International airport. At the airport, after clearing immigration, customs and collecting our luggage we went to the counter with a board "Public Transport", where we got combo-tickets [approximately Twelve (12) Euros per person] for a bus ride (about 40 minutes) from the airport to Piazza Roma bus stand next to the Grand Canal and then a Vaporetto ride (about 20 minutes) on the Grand Canal from the Piazza Roma Vaporetto stop to the Rialto bridge Vaporetto stop. From there, for convenience & guidance, we hired a 'porter' (20 Euros for two suitcases) and walked (about 10 minutes) with him via the serpentine cobble stone roads to the hotel on Santa Marina Square. On arrival at the hotel in the late afternoon and after showing our advance booking voucher, completing the formalities, we were escorted by the lady at the reception via the lift/elevator to our room in the third floor. A nice cosy well furnished room having two windows with 'old fashioned' shutters, a nice double-bed with side tables, small desk & chair, phone, flat TV and attached bathroom with bathtub/shower, toilet & bidet. There was no coffee/tea maker in the room. The booking, bed & breakfast, was done through our travel agent and payment made in advance, hence, we had to pay only the local tax amounting to less than ten (10) Euros at departure time. The breakfast spread was very good and more than adequate. The hotel location on San Marco Island is very convenient being very near Marco Polo's house, within easy walking distance from the Rialto bridge, where the Vaporetto stop is, and San Marco Square, where the main attractions such as, the Cathedral, Duke's Palace are. On the same square as the hotel is a cooperative convenience store and a few restaurants. And, nearby are innumerable eating places, such as bakeries, cafes and restaurants. A nice cosy place to stay in Venice. Collapse
Good location - needs updating

Stayed here for four nights. Put into a room where bathroom was flooded but immediately upgraded. Rooms are dated but very Venetian. Breakfast was very basic continental. Did the job but would probably try somewhere else next time.
