VIK Hotel San Antonio, the staff on the whole have a good attitude towards guests, most very friendly and helpful. It appears that the hotel is pretty much fully booked all year round, and here is the problem. It is dated. You would be forgiven for thinking you had gone back in time to the the mid 70’s. Not only dose the decor give this impression, but the facilities also. The whole venue needs an update, bringing it up to date would make this venue the place to stay for years to come. The carpets in places are threadbare, stained carpets in the room. There is a lack on inspiration in the kitchen, the food is mediocre to say the least. I was all inclusive, and the drinks served were cheap local brands. The food was cold, i had to use a microwave to heat it up. This in not acceptable. Being all inclusive i expected a stocked mini bar in the room, i was sadly mistaken, they provide free use of an empty mini fridge and give you a bottle of water every day, anything else is at a cost. The hotel has rules about guest placing towels the sun-beds around the pool and hanging items over the balconies, this policy needs to be informed as they are ignored by a minority of guests. The dated room has a lack of plug sockets, so charging mobile and tablets is a bit of a chore. There is only WiFi in the lobby area, which its self is hit and miss. The TV (Not HD or 4K) has the 4 main British channels amongst a variety of other European channels. The TV itself is short of a HDMI port for connecting your modern essential everyday electronic devices. We stayed an extra 90 minutes, opting to booking out at 1330hrs rather than 1200hrs, this cost is 18 Eruo's. On balance I would not re-book until it has had a make over / refurbishment. The staff alone can not keep this venue afloat. Collapse

Stay here often. 9 weeks this year. Nice and quiet, can't fault staff as all are very friendly and always welcome us back. Not pool people but does get busy certain times of the year. Food is great, never had a bad meal, and a good choice. Rooms are cleaned every day. Beds and towels changed often or next day if dirty or you request. Right on the beach so great for morning walk before breakfast. This was the second hotel built in the town and still looks great. Well it's great for us as we don't want to walk for miles between room and resturant. Thank you Fernando for managing a great hotel and having great staff. Too many to mention by name. See you agn soon.. Collapse

We have stayed at this hotel about 10 times over the last 5 or 6 years which says what we think of it. The location (for us) is perfect, just on the edge of the main drag and on the sea front. The staff are very pleasant and efficient, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the food is good and a varied choice, exactly what you want from a hotel. The clientel are mostly of the older generation, but again that suits us because so are we. There is 7 nights a week in house entertainment normaly a local 2 or 3 peice band and also a guest act every night. The hotel is getting older so yes the rooms can be a little tired but still in good condition and clean. Right outside the hotel are both bus stops and a taxi rank (about 12 euro to the airport), or as we do 3 or 4 euro to the other end of Puerta del Carmen and spend the day walking back visiting the odd shops and bars for tapas and a beer. Our most recent trip was in November 2017 and I noticed the main street shops and bars were all closed or closing by 10.30 pm if they are busy they do stay open longer. And lastly a word for the local authorities,.. who keep the Puerta del Carmen main drag spotlessly clean. Collapse

We stayed a week in November very friendly staff luggage taken to our room for us. Got a room upgrade to full sea view. The hotel although old has a special charm and you feel very safe the rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed every day. Lots of sun loungers some in really quiet areas. Food was very good plenty choices. There was work going on in the restaurant but with no inconvenience to the guests. Would definitely come back. Collapse

I spent two weeks during November at the hotel and clouldn't wait to come home. First the good bits... Good Location/ Near centre of resort Pleasant Outlook/ Beach & Sea Mostly helpful staff/ not including management! Now the bad bits.... First I fully understand that some people will always give this hotel a good report no matter what! However I feel this is mis placed loyalty. My experience is that over many years of support is that the total lack of investment has now taken its toll! The results are as follows... Smelly rooms. Every area of the hotel looks tired and old. Lack of basic WIFI in public areas (Ongoing for many years) Mould ridden changing rooms. Subsidence in the main restaurant and outside bar/cafe areas. Continual work going on to the detriment of the clients. (Top Pool Area) A new manager Fernando who possess the most indifferent attitude I have ever witnessed within the industry. A complaints procedure that is non-existent. Alcoholic drinks that NOW have been taken off the All Inclusive Package without prior warning. (Jet 2 Com included) Lack of basic hotel security, one client had their bag snatched by a thief. Unhygienic food areas, explanation for this was that emergency work needed to be carried out. Clients had to endure eating food in a dust ridden environment, see my photographs of the workmen in action. This hotel is not worth the prices that they charge for what has become third rate, maintained to a very poor standard. In the UK I feel they would be closed down until the management got its act together and made the place fit for purpose. Collapse
