This is an old hotel built in the 70's and retains a lot of that 70's charm. It is loke a well looked after old car charming but dated in some ways. They have a gym and it's a small gym with outdated broken exercise machines. The dining is quite good and we were in for half board. The dining room gets packed at peak hours and sometimes it's hard to find a table but the staff are very helpful. Some of the sun loungers could also do with replacement as they are showing signs of wear and tear. What most impressed me with this hotel was the staff, some of the best we have ever dealt with, so friendly and helpful it would be hard to fault any we came across. Great staff and a great location are two of the main plusses. Collapse

Stayed at San Antonio for 11 nights from 13 November on a half board basis. It was our first visit to Lanzarote. Very comfortable corner room with sea view with great view looking towards Arrecife. Could watch planes lining up to land at airport but no problem with aircraft noise. Very good choice of foods for breakfast, although found machine coffee/cappuchino undrinkable. Wide selection of foods for starters and main course at dinner but our main criticism is that they were not labelled, not clear what was suitable for vegetarian. Thankfully there was always a very good selection of desserts. Stayed at lots of 4 star hotels and would expect the provision of fridge in room to be included in the overall cost, not an additional cost. The hotel may not be suitable for people with mobility problems as lots of small sets of steps throughout the hotel and its grounds. This is probably due to it being one of older hotels in Puerto del Carmen when accessability was not a major design requirement. Would consider staying here again in the future. Collapse

Okay I really do not want to appear rude but this hotel was more like staying in an old peoples home!!! OMG we have never stayed in a hotel where we are the youngest there and nearly everyone was over 75. Everyone, guest wise were friendly but so so old, and the evening shows were aimed at the older clientele. There was just 1 bar to pick from at any one time so the lack of choice was disappointing. Breakfast was like being at a cattle market, we were all inclusive but only went to breakfast once, and that was enough it was dreadful!!! The lack of variety from a food point of view was very disappointing, very, and trying to get a table at certain times again was painful. We ate out a lot as we got very bored of the same food and the cattle market feel. The drinks selection was however very good and there were well known branded drinks available. Disappointed that a smoothie was not included in the all inclusive and also that the all inclusive stops at midnight - WHY?! Staff were ok they work very hard, a few grumpy ones but most of them were friendly and helpful. The TVs in the room should have a limit of how loud they go as we could hear our neighbours TV every single time they had the TV on I guess as you get older you need a louder volume, but that wasn't great it woke us up every morning. Disappointed that you had to pay to use the safe and pay to have beach towels (money was refunded when beach towel card returned!!!) The mini bar in the room you also had to pay for even being all inclusive, which again I don't feel is good enough, not for what we paid for the holiday, you just got a bottle of water a day and tea/coffee facilities, a cold beer in the fridge would have been a nice touch. Hotel location great, it is just on the doorstep for the buses and it is on the beach. Easy walking to shops/bars/restaurants. Hotel kept clean, but is getting dated, our room was very dated, and good room maid service for cleaning, albeit the maids are very noisy in the mornings along the corridors, they woke us up most mornings - hoovering and chatting. I think this hotel is absolutely ideal for the older person who wants a quiet relaxed, dare I say boring holiday. Collapse

Quite an old fashioned hotel in many ways but, without fail, everyone we spoke to there had been before. Some going multiple times a year. Very clean and well looked after by the maids who do the rooms daily. Large pool area but you'll have to be fairly quick to get a sunbed. There is easily room for more sunbeds so it's down to the usual problem of the hotel not supplying enough. We arrived fairly late (about 9.30 pm) and expected some food to have been set aside for us but on entry to the restaurant they just looked at as if we were just cheeky latecomers expecting them to work overtime..... Not knowing the ropes we sort of just sat there until we could get the attention of some staff and managed to get a cling film wrapped plate of cold meats and cheese. The upside was that we also got a full bottle of Rioja and very nice it was too. Following this snack we went into the bar and for some reason we also had trouble getting served with the bar men almost ignoring us to serve others. I have to say though that this was a "one off", maybe because we looked a bit scruffy having spent the day travelling in our jeans and T shirt. Subsequent nights the bar service was excellent. Breakfast was especially good with proper English Sausages and baked beans on offer. Lunch not so impressive with not a great selection on offer. We found ourselves eating at the pool bar most days which is something I'd never usually do. Pool bar has a selection of pizzas burgers toasties etc and it is waitress service. Tables are limited but you just have to pick the right time. Evening meal looked quite varied at first but we soon realised that most days it was just variations of pork or fish. I'm not knocking it as we always found something tasty but it's not in the same league as a Riu or Iberostar. We were there in early October and the clientele were mostly pensioners, with the entertainment accordingly arranged. Mostly Hammond organ based. Drinks were very good with bottles of wine offered at the table brand name drinks at the bar and they are quite happy to give you a bottle of wine to take up to your room. The bar staff were very professional and a credit to the hotel. Just a last note about the TV in the room. There are quite a lot of English TV channels but they take a bit of hunting for. Mostly in the higher range of numbers. Can't remember exactly now but I think they are in the 800s. Collapse

Service was first class from all staff at the Vik.. Everyone was so friendly. We arrived at around 11am & got into our room even though check in was not until 2pm. It was not a problem to them. The room was great. We had an amazing sea view, definitely worth the upgrade. The food in the restaurant was superb. Great selection each night, something different, good hot food etc The location of the hotel is great, on the sea front. not far from the local spar shop and the resort centre. Excursion buses picked us up right at the bus stop outside our hotel. There is a Doctors across the road also. Overall Great trip and will return to the VIK san Antonio Collapse
