Our first time to Venice and most definitely won't be our last! This hotel is a perfect base away from the hustle and bustle of the main square yet only a 10 minute walk to the main attractions ( as long as you don't get lost but f you don't then you haven't truly experienced this amazing city!). We had 2 downstairs rooms as these were on special offer with Agoda ( worth a look at their website for a bargain), we didn't realise that the rooms were for disabled people, although we don't have disabilities I work with people that are physically disabled and I was delighted to see that such an old hotel had been adapted to meet the needs of disabled travellers. Room 1 has a big downside though ( not the hotels fault), there is a public bin outside the window that the seagulls love to feast from starting at about 5.30am so if you are a light sleeper like me you will curse the seagulls for waking you up! We will return to the hotel in future but will choose an upstairs room next time because of this early wake up call 3 mornings in a row! The staff are friendly and very helpful, we asked lots of questions at reception and got all the answers that we needed in clear English which was so helpful. Ask about a good restaurant to eat at and you won't be disappointed! There is continental breakfast with lovely filter coffee each morning, the restaurant is quite small so may be very busy at peak times but was fine in March. The same area is a bar in the evening and a nice place to spend an hour at the end of a busy day. The hotel organised a boat taxi for our journeys. and we can't recommend this highly enough, the service was great and we loved the whole experience of arriving at the hotel door by boat and being picked up there today and taken straight to the airport ( about 25 minutes). As we're leaving today we had 10 minutes to wait so explored upstairs and discovered a beautiful lounge with ofas, a piano and a balcony overlooking the square. We wish we had found this at the start of the holiday asit would be a wonderful 'chill out' place so make sure you have a look. We fell in love with this beautiful city and the icing on the cake for our trip was this hidden gem of a hotel, let's hope it stays for many years to ensure that we can return again! Collapse

This is a lovely historic building and close to the main attractions in Venice. The staff all speak English and were very helpful throughout our stay. The room we stayed in was of an unusual layout and had lots of character. We were on the canal side of the hotel which can be a little noisy but offered a great view. The hotel arranged water transfers to and from the hotels dock which made our arrival and departure simple and much more interesting. Venice is a great city to visit and would stay at this hotel again. Collapse

This hotel has fantastic history and strategically located in Old Venice. The accommodations are rich in culture and local significance. Breakfast in the morning and bar available at night. The staff is friendly and the front desk can direct you to tours that leave from the hotel. It is hard to navigate Venice, so make sure to take advantage of their services. The best way to get there from the airport is by ground taxi thru Venice to the water taxis at the end of the long bridge. The water taxi takes you directly to the waterfront side of the hotel, which saves long walk with your suitcases over many bridges (steps).......heed this warning to save energy and spousal stress !! My wife and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Ruzzini Palace Hotel (we stayed February 8th-12th). I booked the trip 3 months in advance with Trivago/Amoma to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. I based my choice on reading other reviews so my expectations were pretty high. We arrived via Marco Polo airport and the Alilaguna boat which took us to the Rialto Bridge taking about 45 minutes, from there it took about 15 minutes on foot even with getting slightly lost on the way. First impressions were of the lovely quiet square where the hotel is situated. The staff were friendly when we arrived and we were shown to our room on the second floor – room 203. It was beautiful with a massive bed which proved to be very comfortable. It was decorated in a typical venetian, baroque style and was large and spotlessly clean, there was even a second seating area with tea making facilities. The modern, limestone tiled bathroom had a powerful shower and a deep bath. The room overlooked the canal at the back of the hotel and was also next to a large luxurious lounge area with a grand piano which also overlooked the canal and the square at the front. We virtually had this lounge to ourselves the whole trip. Breakfast was served on the ground floor near the small bar and although the area is quite small at around 9.30 when we went down we always found plenty of seats and the food was always being replenished so there was lots of choice to eat. Throughout our stay all the staff were friendly and helpful. Possibly the best thing about this fantastic hotel is its location. It is 10 minutes walk from Rialto and St Marks Sq and which ever directiion you walk from the square there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, there is even a gondola jetty on the square, currently the rate is 80 euros for 30 minutes for up to 6 people, although we managed to barter it down to 60 euros. I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and of Venice, if we come back we will definitely try to stay at the Ruzzini Palace. Collapse
