I'll start at the end. If you have one place left to go to on vacation for the rest of your life - that's the place. Calling it "Perfect" is an insult. It's beyond perfect. It's heaven. The villas are beautiful and have everything your heart can desire. Having a private pool is a great experience. The Spa is lovely and you should try all the different nooks and crannies in it - with all the different faucets too :) Breakfast is rich and diversified - something for everyone. The food is great and service is the best I've ever encountered. If you go half-board you eat at the restaurant in the evening. The menu includes different fish and meats, all done in local style. It's a very slow and relaxing meal (that's not a criticism - it's a plus) and you can just sit there, relax, and bask in the glory of the place. To sum it all up - the best vacation I've ever had, the best place I've ever been to, we'll be coming back, and so should you :) Collapse
Let's Talk Traffic

For the purpose of this review, let's simply assume that this hotel is indisputably luxurious with extremely efficient, charming and capable staff - as repeated many times by preceding reviews - with which we wholeheartedly concur. This is why we chose it above the 5 star behemoths on the beachfront at La Caleta and El Duque. However, no amount of luxurious fixtures and fittings on the balcony can compensate even in part for the horrendous traffic noise and fumes. So, let's talk TRAFFIC. I read a lot of reviews before we came and so was aware of possible problems. We therefore, although only the two of us, decided to book a 2 bed Princess Villa, since the traffic issue seemed mainly to concern the one bed Duchess suites. Not so. Our villa, LUNA - as all villas - was beautifully decorated and extremely well appointed. However, the sunbeds are DIRECTLY above the road, which is about 25 feet below...some of the one beds are closer than that! Just for accuracy - taking account of other reviews which seem to play down the noise - this appears now to be one of the main roads down to La Caleta, with a speed limit of 60 km/ph. There is a lot of new construction going on in La Caleta and this road will see a lot more traffic going forward. Between 7.30 and 8.00am, vehicles were coming at an average of 8 PER MINUTE to include lorries, buses and extremely loud motorcycles - complete with attendant fumes - which rose between 1 and 2pm to upwards of 12 per minute on average. It was much quieter in the night and didn't disturb my sleep as I slept with earplugs. I don't find lying on my subbed next to a constantly busy road especially relaxing and also not very private as the golfers can see onto the balcony as they park their cars below. Enough of traffic. Due to the general aspect of the hotel, the sun is gone from most balconies by 4pm, so losing the best 2 hours of the day. Not a problem for us as we had a very necessary hire car, so decamped to the beach for some sun and peace and quiet! The main pool, which is small and primarily ornamental, also loses the sun at around that time. It is not possible to swim for exercise but there is a public pool for lengths at Los Christianos, cost £1.50 per hour (need a hat). The gym at the pool is small but well equipped and the Spa is truly gorgeous with great little steam room and hydrotherapy pool. We had a number of excellent treatments by expert practitioners. We ate out most nights, but ate in the restaurant once. Nice ambience, good service but not a patch on eating fresh seafood in La Caleta...and considerably more expensive. Breakfast was excellent, the ladies serving were very professional, prompt and charming...as indeed were all the staff (special mention for Tom) we came into contact with, including the Manager - who was very helpful. Unfortunately we could not move to a less noisy villa with less pollution since the hotel was full. The real problem here is that if you are travelling as a couple and only want one or two bedrooms, you WILL be on the first floor directly above the road. Only the very large villas are further from the road as they are higher up, but still don't get any more sun in the afternoons. Sleep quality was good. Earplugs aside, the bed was very comfortable with a soft topper on the mattress and great pillows with a pillow menu for good measure. Also, secure parking in the hotel garage. We came with Thomas Cook and their information and choice of villas was hopeless - almost no info at all. Best to contact the hotel and speak about your exact specifications...I believe the Gran Princess Villas, though also 2 bed, are higher up. In this hotel, the higher you go, the less noise/fumes you'll have! I am particularly annoyed that previous reviewers have chosen to downplay this nuisance as if we'd known how intrusive it was, we would happily have booked a bigger, higher villa - though not sure they are available through Thomas Cook. In conclusion, for a relaxing winter sun break with some good swimming, good sun and peace and quiet, this was sadly not it on any of these three counts. Collapse

Me and the wife have just got back from a week in this amazing place, we where greated with a glass of prosseco and showed to our Villa. We stayed in a one bedroom villa called Lola, it had all you would need and more! It had a Zebra theam to it and the quality of everything was definitely first class! Room service is a must, Tom an English guy served us and was spot on. We had a massage next the the spa and that was awesome too! We hired a beetle convertible for four days and it was great, we went up Tiede twice and that was unreal the ceanery is breathtaking. I was a little worried about driving a left hand drive car on the wrong side of the road but it was easy most of the roads are like brand new and they've made it really easy for us foreigners! Even hiring the car was easy, I went to reception chose the car we wanted, showed them my driving license, went and laid on the sun lounger and 20 mins later the car was out the front waiting for us! The food the staff and the hole complex was amazing you really couldn't wish for a better experience. If you do get chance there's an awesome Chinese restaurant at the bottom of the hill called 88, you can ask at reception to book you a reservation as it does get quite busy. Missing this place already and hoping to get back next year. Hope this review helps, you definitely won't be disappointed. Collapse

Stayed here between the 17th and 24th of February 2017. Firstly, it should be said the overwhelming experience here is positive. Having read many reviews prior to getting here, we were concerned about the potential for traffic noise, but I have to say it did not bother us as the passing traffic is modest. We also found criticisms of the restaurant to be unfounded; the menu was varied enough for us to eat there every night of our stay, breakfast is relaxed and the surroundings very engaging. The villas are spotlessly clean and presented. The open pathways between them are also very tastefully presented with excellently maintained foliage to provide a lovely ambience that is a characteristic of the entire complex. The spa and gym are also excellently maintained, quiet and the spa treatments superb. Al fresco dinning night is a must attend event too. The staff are all very helpful, from the housekeeping staff immaculately turned out in their spring time yellow uniforms through to the charming and helpful waiters - one of which, Roque, deserves a special mention for going over and above the call of duty. RGV are an island of tranquillity that was truly unexpected and it is not possible to stay here and not be moved by its charm, service and the sheer sedateness of life that it inspires. So why only very good and not excellent? Well here is the Fawlty Towers bit. Night one in the villa I received an electric shock off the push switch on a lamp in the villa owing to an exposed wire that had rubbed bare. It was fixed next morning within 20 minutes of reporting it, but it really shouldn't have happened. Night two I had a glass of wine splashed over me in the restaurant, yes an accident, but there were two other occasions where waiting staffed dropped glasses over the course of the week. Is that a training issue? The plunge pool in our Villa "Lola" has an inconceivably large step down into it. Its about 90cm from step one to step two - this will be a major problem for anyone with any mobility restrictions - which is a real shame because the rest of the complex is very mobility friendly. It could be easily changed or improved. Finally bed turn down service, great, love it, but not at 7.15 each night when, like most people, we are in the middle of getting ready for our night out. So to summaries, you should go, you will enjoy it and have a wonderful time, but there are niggles that prevent it from being properly excellent. Collapse
