Myself and husband had been looking forward to our ‘spa break’ for months-would I call it a spa break? No I don’t think so, the swimming pool was fine, though I’ve never been in a hydrotherapy pool that wasn’t warm, it wasn’t very relaxing, the jacuzzi was nice but obvious damp bubbling on the wall didn’t really give it a luxurious feel and always full because of the barely warm hydrotherapy pool that wasn’t overly pleasant, the only reason I think people went in there was because there were no seats! When I was changing in dressing room I noticed a clipboard stating how many spa day guests were coming in during the day, 60! There are 28 seats around the spa so plus hotel residents I’m not sure where they expect people to go?! And you couldn’t overly relax as there are no actual loungers? Just seats. We went into the spa early and left when it got very busy at 10am by which point there were a lot of unhappy day spa guests! As for the hotel the wall decor looked pretty cheap and tacky to be honest, food in RG’s wasn’t worth the money, I’ve had better breakfasts at premier inn as well to be honest. Our room was nice, we stayed in the annexe which in itself is fine though slightly annoying you have to walk outside to the main hotel so chilly with your robe and slippers on to get to the spa. We had asked for a turn down service as offered, first night they just didn’t do it and the second night they did but I would no way call it a proper turn down, they very roughly re made the bed and moved a bottle of water from next the TV to the bedside table! We spent nearly £1000 on a 2 night break and I’ve been to much nicer hotels and spent the same. We had paid for an upgrade before arrival to a luxury king room and early check in, we arrived and shown to our room when I asked I was told it was a comfy double so had to sort that out and in fairness they did deduct the early check in cost and upgraded our room so that was a very nice gesture. On the upside the staff were nice, I did have a nice treatment and it was a relaxing break but I won’t be visiting again which is a shame as we were planning on visiting the sister hotel Alexander House but I think we’ll look at other options. sunday afternoon tea baby shower, coffee tea when we arrived, then they brought out the afternoon tea, think they forgot to put the filling in the sandwiches because we couldn't find much scones ok with fresh cream but what ever they served as jam was not it was not very nice, some cakes ok but one of them was really hard couldn't eat it, had to ask for the kids drinks after over an hour because they were not offered one, and our table had to ask for the other afternoon tray because we only had the one instead of two, staff a bit slow could do better at 28 quid over priced Collapse

Visited Rowhill Grange on a Secret Escapes voucher for an overnight stay, dinner for two and use of the spa facilities. We had also pre-booked a 55 minute couples massage with a 20% discount at a cost of £139. On arrival we were taken to a dated room which was in an annex separated from the main building and spa. We were told the hotel was fully booked which was surprising for a Sunday evening. Given it was snowing outside and we didn't fancy walking in the freezing cold in our dressing gowns to access the spa or for our treatments we called reception and asked if we could move rooms, after this we were moved to a nicer room in the main building, it's a shame we couldn't have originally been offered this room especially given the additional treatments purchased from the spa. The Spa is far too small for the number of guests, I'm not sure whether this was due to the Secret Escapes offer, but the steam room and jacuzzi were completely full and there weren't any free chairs around the spa area. The water itself was lukewarm and we overheard other guests saying the same. It wasn't warm enough to stay in the water for any length of time so our spa visit was cut short. Our couples massage was good but didn't last the full 55 minutes. The relaxation room however on the ground floor of the Spa was lovely, but I am not sure guests would know about this if they hadn't had a treatment. We dined in the RG restaurant, as the voucher included £70 towards dinner. We ordered beef fillet and fillet steak with sides and a bottle of wine. After over an hour had passed we complained as we had not yet received our food, our waiter checked with the kitchen and the general manager apologised for the delay and our food arrived about 10 minutes later, we were offered two complementary glasses of red wine and the service charge was deducted from the bill. However, when our food arrived, it was delicious! The service at breakfast was rather slow, the same as dinner, it just appeared they didn't have enough staff. Overall we did enjoy the stay, but there are a number of things which could be improved. Collapse

Very enjoyable overnight stay very clean and very pleasant staff.Great swimming pool and spa.Only one curtain provided for those who want to change in private and was disappointed as would like to have relaxed and read a book but to dark everywhere, and the seating very low and hard to get out of.Room was very nice lovely bedding comfortable bed.Would I pay more than the Groupon deal no,I think £199 was still a bit overpriced as it was not possible to get a two course meal in the restaurants with the £35 per person, and then on leaving a service charge was added to the bill. Also felt that you did not even get 24 hours in the hotel and it ended being a rush.I think you should be able to book in at Midday and leave The following day at Midday. Also Treament we’re very expensive £60 for 25 min as a last minute quote. Poor service and treatments

I visited here after being gifted a manicure and soak off. There was old colour left on my nails and the gels peeled off within one week. Tried contacting Rowhill about this but no one bothered to get back to me and still haven’t. Wouldn’t go back.
