My boyfriend and I had an overnight stay at Rowhill Grange last weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted by warm, friendly faces and were given a tour of the hotel facilities before being shown to our room. We stayed in the Chrysanthemum room which was lovely. There was a Nespresso machine, complimentary bottles of water and biscuits which added a lovely touch. We had a few drinks in the bar before dinner- they have a great selection of cocktails and mocktails...I highly recommend the Racing Horse! Again...the service in the bar was brilliant and we could not fault it. Dinner was excellent- I had the risotto and my boyfriend had the cod. And again...the service was great! Although we didn't have any treatments we used the well equipped gym and the pools which were lovely. Overall we had a wonderful, relaxing stay and look forward to returning. Collapse

My boyfriend purchased me an overnight stay with Full spa access and dinner and breakfast for 2 yesterday as he was on a course in Dartford as its also his 50th birthday in a few weeks I thought I would make it extra special as a night on our own is rare with young children! I arrived on my own at the hotel at 1030 to just have a look and book some treatments in, I wanted to organise some champagne to be in the room on arrival and also wanted to book a couples massage. On entry to this hotel it was very hectic there were lots of people coming in for spa day breaks, I waited my turn and spoke to one of the receptionists who advised I couldn't check in until 3 (its in the fine print) but I also couldn't use the spa until check in too (not in the small print). I asked her to confirm what full spa access was and she advised 3pm until 11am. The spa shuts at 6 though!!!! I asked if I could book treatments and she advised I could but after 3 and pointed me in the direction of the spa. On arrival (still immensely busy with people) I was given a therapy list and advised I couldn't book anything as there systems had been down. Off I went and found a chair and choose the treatments we wanted totalling approx £250. I went back to book and still no systems and the likelyhood of no availability! This lady did however take my number and said she would call back and let me know if she could fit us in - when she couldn't tell me! I went back to receptionist really upset as this offer is not what we had thought. I asked to speak to the Manager and was presented with a vial spoken woman with no customer service skills she was the House Manager, in all my years of traveling around the world I have never been spoken to or treated like I was then! I asked her to clarify why full spa access did not have a time frame on, she explained thats usual, again I asked her to explain but again she snapped its in the offer! I explained it was a special night for myself and boyfriend and she simply glared at me and typed on her computer willing me to look at the fine print offer. I said that it had been falsely advertised but just got back, well have your money back, to the audience of 4 other members of staff and other people trying to check in but couldn't due to systems being down. Embarrassed and angry I walked out. After speaking with my boyfriend and simply getting very upset in my car I decided that I didnt want to stay in this hotel, I might of brought a groupon voucher but when I checked the room rate on booking.com it was alot cheaper than we had paid, this woman had looked down her nose at me and had completely ruined our stay. With that I walked back in and asked for my money back that she had offered earlier. I then had to stand there whilst she called several people to see if I was booked in (the groupon voucher was not enough proof) and THEN she looked up and said you need to contact Groupon to cancel. No,No,No I explained that she had literally thrown my money back in my face and that it was down to this hotel to refund, with that she did onto my debit card. No apology nothing, whilst all this was going on another lady checked out beside me with her suitcase she was very warmly welcomed and told she could use the spa until 1! Immediately I questioned this and was told she is not on a offer... This 'House Manager' then said I can't be bothered with this your not prepared to listen!!!! With that I walked out and will never return. It was that bad that another guest come out after and asked of I was ok. This was the worst experience I have ever had the misfortune of being in its totally ruined our special 50th celebration I ended up driving back and forth to Folkestone 4 times as we didn't stay over 2 days! This is not the classy 4* spa they advertise it as and please don't think by booking it for a special occasion it will be special, if it's through groupon your belittled especially if you come across this House Manager. Orsett Hall and Spa is amaxing and pretty much the same price and only 8 miles away. Thank you to Rowhill Grange and this House Manager for ruining my boyfriends 50th birthday! Collapse

We have just returned from Afternoon Tea at Rowhill Grange, celebrating my daughter's 25th birthday. Probably one of the best afternoon teas I've had (and I've eaten my way through far too many!) We chose to eat at 1pm instead of lunch. Lovely fresh sandwiches (particularly the fresh salmon), warm scones with clotted cream and a selection of small dainty cakes (4 each - the fruit tartlets and carrot cake were exceptional). Staff were extremely helpful and attentive (but not to excess). They catered for a vegetarian and supplied a small chocolate cake with Happy Birthday piped on the plate for the birthday girl for extra charge. If I were to make any (very tiny) criticism, the red velvet cupcakes were a little over-baked today and the round tables are a slightly high (or the chairs a bit low) for anyone of less than average height, but this didn't detract from the occasion. We will be visiting again. PS It would be helpful if you could give the correct satnav co-ordinates online (other reviewers have mentioned this) as DA2 7QH is a private road (where fortunately there is a board with the correct postcode for satnavs!) Would also recommend booking through Tesco Direct and getting gift vouchers which is a little cheaper than booking direct with the hotel. Collapse

I surprised my husband with a spa break at Rowhill Grange. The staff were all very welcoming and showed us straight to our room and encouraged us to put our robes on to walk around the hotel and into the spa area. Our treatments were amazing! We had a back massage each and both of our ladies were great! The facilities are all lovely, very relaxing - there is a relaxation room, and different pool areas / steam rooms and saunas. We had a lovely afternoon relaxing and then that evening had a very good meal in the restaurant. The food was of a very high standard. The only negative thing I had to say was that the spa area did get a bit overcrowded, so we struggled to find two loungers together at the beginning. But apart from that, the weekend was perfect and would definitely recommend it to others and hope to go again! Collapse
