Treated, as a Christmas present, to afternoon tea and Rowhill Grange Hotel. Had pre-booked and informed them that my wife was a coeliac. They did us proud. The coeliac (gluten free) tea was not the usual - you can have everything except for this and this and this - no the presentation was specially made to cater for this medical condition. Various blends of freshly made pots of tea were available with "top ups" if required. Charming, helpful staff. Highly recommended. Collapse

I have never written a bad review but i feel that we were treated like a couple of kids and looked down to. My partner booked this for my birthday last weekend and we left very disappointed. The hotel and grounds were lovely, the check in was easy and the food was nice. First disappointment was that we didn't get to choose our treatment, a massage was booked in for us already at 10am the next morning. Slightly annoying as we had to check out at 11am therefore very rushed and no doubt would have been charged a late checkout fee.. something that was done on purpose? I didn't think so at the time but after our experience it wouldn't surprise me. Needless to say this wasn't an issue as we were just about to head downstairs for our massage and they cancelled our treatments 10 minutes before we were due to have them. At 9.45 i had gone to the spa to ask what we needed to wear and by the time i walked upstairs (roughly 30 second walk) we got a phone call saying our massages were cancelled. The reason given was there was a sickness bug and there was no staff. They wanted us to check out and wait around till 3 o clock to have the massage. As we are not from the area and had a long drive home i politely declined and asked for our money back. There is simply no way that they didn't know sooner they were understaffed. I totally understand that under staffing means some appointments get cancelled however the way they dealt with it was down right rude. We spoke to 4 different 'managers' explaining that we had had a lovely time however we were not happy to pay £500 for an overnight stay and some food. I could have done that at home. If they had told us the night before we would have paid for the day and left. We came for a spa weekend and did not get what we paid for. After a lot of discussion they decided to take off £100 from the bill and they accepted no responsibility for what had happened. So basically, we paid £400 to stay there and have breakfast which is ridiculous. They simply did not want to listen nor help us any further. Disgusting customer service. To top it off everyone checking out was saying how wonderful their stay was and how amazing their treatments were. I would have come back had they resolved this issue correctly and fairly however i do not advise booking here for the night let alone even the afternoon. Ridiculous! Collapse

Upon arrival we were greeted by Antonio at reception. who directed us to the bar area to wait as our room wasn't ready. This was fine, as we'd planned to have a bite to eat anyway. There we enjoyed a plate of "Delicious" sandwiches and a much needed cuppa. He then showed us to our room "dhalia" which was just the ticket.. Clean, comfortable and a beautifully presented room. The "Romanesque" Spa facilities, were amazing! Very tranquil setting. Endless supply of fresh clean towels on hand as well as toiletries. Totally made use of this.. Our evening meal was just as lovely. We'd been advised to book a table so opted to eat in the bar which was very quiet. This was just as well as the restaurant was very busy.. We both had the sirloin steak, which was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.. The waitress was very sweet and nothing was to much trouble attending to our every need.. After our "Spa experience" and our lovely meal we were tired so retreated back to our room for the night.. Must of relaxed us that much as we fell into a deep sleep very quickly.. Was rudely awoken by the sound of an alarm at 4.15am. Startled by this, thinking i was dreaming. I quickly realised it was the fire alarm. Arriving at reception, we were informed that it was a false alarm and we could return to our room.. Working in a hotel myself i totally empathise this sort of situation and praise the staff in how they deal with this sort of thing.... But it's amazing the amount of people that didn't actually bother to respond to that alarm!!Managed to sleep until 7ish, weren't hungry at his point, so decided to use the spa again and have a swim before we ate.. Breakfast was just as amazing. Having every taste catered for from having a vast array of cereals, dairy, pastries, fruit salad, juices and preserves. to choose from We opted for the vegetarian which was well presented and tasted lovely. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay, which has made us feel so relaxed and rejuvenated. We have left feeling like "Goddess's... Thank you so much This manor house hotel with it's amazing spa is in a beautiful countryside setting. Incorporating beautiful grounds this is the perfect place to unwind and relax. The Staff are very professional and this shows in their polite, friendly and attentive manner.Credit where credit is due!! Thank you for a truly wonderful experience and i will definitely be returning again.. Collapse

We went for lunch at this beautiful place. It was a real treat! It's a upmarket establishment, very posh! The grounds are lovely, lots of trees, grass, very relaxing. The drive up had several signs saying ducks crossing! (Didn't see any ducks, but lots of wildlife and some horses!) We were greeted, and seated promptly, a table with a view of some of the grounds. The lunch menu was quite small, but we all found something we liked! The food was delicious, well presented, and the service was very attentive. Really enjoyed the whole time there! We didn't stay at the hotel, or partake of any of the treatments, but those who were looked like they were having a great time, too! Collapse
