Stayed here for 1 night on business. I would love to have given this hotel 5 stars but I couldn't because: - it's layout is just a bit weird, probably due to the age of the original building and then future additions. You have to walk outside or traverse various interior rooms and hallways to get to the restaurant. - obvious recent renovations, new carpets in the room and in places, new bathroom and bedroom furniture but I don't think it's quite finished. So no mirror over the desk, no bedside lamps and no toilet roll holder etc. Kind of appears a bit half finished. - water pressure for bath, um, lovely fittings but took 30 minutes to run my bath All of that aside, restaurant service was really good and food was lovely Staff are a real asset to this hotel, without exception, helpful, genuinely friendly and welcoming. Room was spotless, bed and pillows really comfy. Good supply of tea and coffee in the room. Good quality toiletries - conditioning shampoo, body wash, body lotion, soap and shower cap Good hairdryer that you don't have to keep your trigger finger on to keep blowing Quiet, good quality sleep until some sort of lorry turned up outside at 6 30am Would definitely stay again and hopefully 5 stars next time Collapse

My daughter and her fiance were married at Rossett Hall last weekend and all I can say is fabulous. From the planning beforehand to the actual day, everything went brilliantly. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived the day before and ate in the restaurant that evening, the food was delicious and good value for money. Everyone at Rossett Hall ensured the day of the wedding was everything my daughter had dreamed of and I cannot thank them enough especially Nic, Emily and Paul, I would highly recommend this hotel. An uninspiring hotel. It promised much but delivered only adequately. The reception staff were not particularly informative nor customer friendly - we had to ask rather than be told anything. On checkout we were being overcharged by about £25, which was the computer's fault - of course it was! Our room, for a two-night Fri / Sat stay was ordinary, with a view of the rear car park and a few vans. ("If you come again, ask for a garden room", we were told. Why weren't we given one anyway? Then we night have come back!) There was a trouser press which worked well and was well used by us. The hot water filled the bath very rapidly and the towels were top quality and large. The bed was comfortable but the pillows not to our liking - too soft for me. The restaurant tables were wooden ones, with no linen, not even for evening meal. Many tables had scratches across them. Food was average, no more. At breakfast there was only a small choice of pot yogurts, a few cereals in packets and no muesli or granola. The hot buffet didn't include scrambled eggs, only fried and the black pudding was like a hockey puck - solid. Mushrooms, beans, bacon and tomatoes were all good. There was some fruit - grapefruit segments and a fruit salad but no prunes. The staff were very slow at clearing tables and seemed to leave all clearing until everyone had eaten. Evening meals were reasonable, with a fair choice from table d'hote at a fixed £21;50 or a la carte. The barman / wine waiter was cheerful and friendly. Fellow guests were an amiable sort, which saved matters for us, somewhat. At £135 per night DBB, which we paid, we found Rossett Hall poor value compared to the Double Tree by Hilton in Chester at just £130 the night before which was a far better standard all round. We had a family meal approx 3 weeks ago on a Thursday night which was initially quiet but a few people arrived later. I hadn't eaten there for about 15 years for various reasons but I can honestly say the food was simply lovely. Some of us had fish as a main which was cooked to perfection, all of the food we had was lovely and well cooked, the staff that were on couldn't do enough for you. The only slight thing about the place was a couple of areas needed a little bit of decorating but please don't let this be a distraction because on the whole the place is fine, the food is fantastic, the staff we had that night were equally fantastic and very friendly. We definitely will be returning in the coming weeks Collapse
