I have stayed at this hotel before and have to say the service has really gone downhill. Our room was very small. Apparently you have to ask for turn down service although we were never informed of this. Our previous stay the service was automatically provided. I only found this out when I had to call the front desk to request Kleenex because ours had not been restocked on the routine daily cleaning. Of course the front desk hung up on me though I did get the Kleenex . We had a banquet at the hotel. They basically shoved us out the door because they wanted to go home. Desserts weren't served to those who went to the bathroom and drinks were cleared away before you were finished. On our last day I requested a late check out and of course no consideration was given - just no. I asked to speak with management and spoke to a voicemail. The call was never returned. They must of run out of liquid soap too because that was not replenished on the daily cleaning. Not what you would expect from a Waldorf Astoria. I would not stay at this hotel. Collapse

I was there overnight for business. The room was so small that the only place for the room service cart was by the door, trapping me between the desk and the service cart. The house phone was on the other side of the bed not accessible unless I climbed over the bed. When trying to maneuver around the cart to get to the bathroom I spilled a glass of water. When I soaked the water using a towel the towel turned black. I didn't realize that the dark carpet has not been cleaned since it was installed Collapse

Beautiful Hotel, Lackluster Service does NOT live up to the Waldorf name

My boyfriend and I stayed here in April for two nights. When we checked in, the woman behind the desk was slumped over like she was bored out of her mind. She straightened up when we approached, did not greet us, but stared at us expectantly. We gave her our name and she found our reservation. Not once did she acknowledge that we were Gold Members. When I asked about available upgrades, she told me there were none available. That was fine, but she was so rude about it. We have spent a lot of time and money at Hilton Hotels and expected much more from a Waldorf property. After we checked in, we were in the elevator heading up to our room and I made a comment to my boyfriend about how rude the woman at the desk was. Another guest in the elevator told us that she had only encountered rude staff and that she would never stay there again. It was a Monday and we realized the Fountain Lounge was closed. Initially, we didn't realize this and when I approached the concierge to ask about it, he stared at me. No greeting, no "Hi, how are you?" no "How can I help you?" He just stared at me and waiting for me to start talking. When I asked about the Fountain Lounge, he told me the restaurant was closed on Mondays. And continued to stare at me, like I was wasting his time. Never once did he offer to recommend another restaurant or offer to make us a reservation. I actually couldn't believe it. It is literally his job to find dining and recreation for guests. We are suckers for robes and slippers. But again, were disappointed by the Roosevelt. The robes in the room were scratchy, like they had been washed too many times. The mini-fridge is on a sensor, so there is no room to store leftovers or your own food/drink. I will say that the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff at Teddy's Cafe was wonderful. Tuesday night was a Champagne happy hour at the Fountain Lounge, which was great. Those are the only pros I will give this place. This hotel does not live up to the Waldorf name in any respect other than the price point. I have stayed at the NYC Waldorf and the Waldorf in Chicago. The Roosevelt doesn't even compare. A bartender on Frenchman's street told us New Orleans has a hard time keeping good staff in hospitality. That was glaringly apparent. This hotel was such a disappointment. To the Roosevelt: Invest in better staff. Treat them better. Have a more stringent hiring process. To the Hilton Group: Consider removing this from the Waldorf portfolio or bringing in a corporate manager to improve the staff and ensure a higher level of customer satisfaction. This is dragging down your name and making you look bad. To potential guests: Do not let the name fool you. You will find better service elsewhere. Collapse

We tagged along on my husband’s business trip in March. The hotel is gorgeous- our room was large and it was the perfect location. There’s a Walgreens close by and easy access to public transportation.
