I've stayed at couple of the nicer hotels in New Orleans over the years and The Roosevelt definitely competes with the best of them. Beautiful lobby and great service. My room exceeded my expectations (although I wish they'd add a coffee maker). The location is a couple blocks off the French Quarter across Canal - close enough for an easy walk but far enough to get out of the chaos. Collapse
Beautiful hotel, questionable guest service.

We came to New Orleans for a "girls Mardi Gras trip". Got to the Roosevelt hotel early and was hoping they had a room available for us. My friend was joking around with the reception girl and I suppose the clerk didn't like or didn't get her joke and rudely said " I don't find your joke funny".....ok.... moving on, she told us we would get a text when our room is ready. We stuck around for a while and did not get a text. 4.5 hours later I came back to Ramon at the front desk. Ramon, not the friendliest person asked "did you get a call?" I said " no, but it has been almost 5 hours, I see all these other guests getting checked into their room so why are we still waiting?" Ramon went to look into it and told us he got us a nice room on a high floor. Our high floor was the 3rd floor. Our view , well I will just post a photo of the view. The room was huge and very beautiful so we over looked the view. We had a bug issue in our beautiful room and ended up moving to another room, not as glamorous but was ok. Tonight we wanted to print out our boarding passes and once again encountered the oh so helpful Ramon. He asked if we really needed them tonight, what time was the flight.... There were no other guests anywhere near the front desk, Ramon could have easily helped us out. Instead he told us to go to the media center in the morning and print our passes. I also asked for a late check out and Ramon , so willing to help , said to try in the morning. I don't understand why the Roosevelt hotel would keep this character around to "help" their guests. I later called guest relations from our room, she told me that the media center is open 24 hrs and I can use the computer as well as print anything I want. She also gave us an extra hour as a late check out. Why couldn't Ramon do that? Why would we need to spend extra time trying to get things done when we only have 2.5 days in this great city? I am writing this review in hope that the Roosevelt hotel's management sees it and works on screening the characters they hire to "help" their guests. On a positive note , I would like to Thank Alyssa, the night time manager , in assisting us resolve the issue with our first room. Collapse

This is a beautiful hotel that has been extremely well maintained. Our room was extremely clean from top to bottom, including the carpeting, furniture, bathroom, etc. Employees encountered were exceptional but particular stand-outs were Ashley at the reception desk and Elsa in housekeeping. We are very selective regarding our choice of hotels, and we will definitely return to this beautiful hotel. Collapse

Not sure why I landed on his bad side but despite being a paying costumer in a extremely fancy hotel Ramon found a way to ruin our vacation. Let start with the excited arrival greeted by the "sorry your room " won't be available for 20 more minutes but we can upgrade you to a room with a bathtub for a discount right away ! A shadiness expected from much lower level hotel chains not the Astoria. Then when asked for the upgrade as promised (if available) by using the American Express fine hotels and resorts program , I was told by my "new friend " that I booked via orbitz and paid with Amex ( an incorrect assumption ) that took 40 min to correct some simply since from our seat in the lobby we could see Ramon speaking to his friend rather then pick up the phone that was ringing as we were on a 3 way call with the Amex representative trying to clarify! Once finally "corrected" we were promised the "upgraded" bath tub room with street view as soon as it's ready. We tiredly marched to Dominica (excellent and unrelated to the hotel) for lunch once texted the room is ready we came back for the key from "friendly" Ramon and headed up to a room with no bathtub and no view in essence negating now a 2hr and 36 min wait ! While wife at counter to discuss the events I simply started writing this review to get details correct and (Jennie) passed by and asked how was, hurrying into the city being the priority we moved quickly passed that conversation, since we intend on having a great time we will stay in this room now the third trip in elevator ( it has a tub , 2 queen beds and you can see the view of a condemned structure) I guess the non upgraded you will be put in that structure? We will move on and stop so as to not risk our bags being lost for good. Advised to those who made it this far in my letter This boutique type personal touch my not be the right mark for everyone ( at least not if u get Ramon ) a Hyatt or Hilton "bland receptionist " would have gotten you the keys and possibly a cookie and 2.5 extra hours of fun for you with some cash difference to spend on beads and booze!
