Once inside the Roman Hotel guests will be stunned as they are immersed in centuries of Greek History and Mythology. Resembling a Greek Palace, the museum like interior has to be seen to be believed. Built on the grounds where 3 tombs with frescoes from the Hellenistic period were found and well preserved, the hotel is well placed for sight-seeing, as it is surrounded by numerous archaeological sites. The hotel is also located close to the beach, with Paphos Harbour approximately 1 kilometre away. The hotel is fully equipped including a swimming pool, gym, sauna, table tennis, health club with treatments, as well as a restaurant and cocktail bar.

Our first night in Cyprus was at the Roman Hotel in Paphos. It is a fascinating hotel all decorated with murals in Roman style with columns and architecture which takes you back in time. There is a great outdoor pool at this hotel ideal for an early morning dip. Cyprus is hot in mid summer and not all parts of the hotel have air conditioning but the rooms were fine even in the heat of the evening. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Collapse

This was our second time here. The first time was our first trip to Paphos and we enjoyed our stay. This time, the hotel looks a bit tired and in need of some freshening up. Don't get me wrong, for the price it is still not a bad place to stay in. I have read some awful reviews and have to say most of it is not deserved. It is not dirty, but the bath we had was old and in need of replacement it just looked patchy and discoloured which, I suppose could be mistaken for grime but it isn't. Neither are the staff unfriendly, in fact they were charming and very friendly. You just need to smile and say thankyou which should be natural anyway. If I have any gripes it was the food. Breakfast was ok but it would have been nice to have some fresh fruit around, especially as oranges were falling off trees everywhere. Instead we had a tinned fruit salad. No way guys! We had an evening meal there - dire!but then most of the food in the surrounding tavernas (with the exception of the Windmill Restaurant) was also dire, often inedible and overpriced. maybe that is the effect of tourism now. We ate at a taverna just down the road from the hotel and we were drawn in by the amazing smell of spit roast meat. The suckling pig had no taste whatsoever and the chicken was strangely fluffy inside. The Greek salad consisted of lots of tasteless tomatoes and leaf stuff with a square of feta about 2" square with 3 olives. This was for 2! Biggest gripe of all the other guests! Without going into too much detail the hotel is staffed by and caters mistly for people from the biggest country in Eastern Europe. The staff were lovely but these guests were not at all friendly, what I said about smiling at people before didn't work. They just looked through you, or glowered. I did meet a lovely chap who started talking to us but he lived in Limassol so I suppose that didn't count! Collapse

We stayed in the Roman Hotel for one week on a half board basis, it was very different from other hotels we've stayed in but you book the hotel knowing that. Firstly I explained that my wife was recovering from an illness and could we have a nice room, they said they would upgrade us at no extra cost in two days when a room became available. On the first day they bought us up a Kettle bottled water tea bags and coffee and a bowl of fresh fruit, they topped up the water and fruit three times during our stay. The standard room was good, with a large bed, the superior room was much larger with a coffee table and comfortable chairs. Breakfast had a good variety of both hot and cold food including porridge, Dinner had a different menu each evening. All the staff at the Roman were so friendly and helpful from the reception to the dining room staff, they could not have done enough for us, a special thank you to Ian in the bar who was so courteous and Angela the manageress. We would definitely stay at the Roman Hotel again. Collapse

Stayed here over Christmas. The Roman theme has been taken far too far to the point of it been tacky. However it's clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff are good especially Dian in the spa and Anna on reception who was very helpful and always had a smile on her face even though she never seemed to have a day off. The pool area would be nice in the summer. It is also only 10 minutes walk to many if the tourist attractions, restaurants and easy access for the airport. Breakfast was adequate but not outstanding, some fresh fruit would have been nice, the honey tasted like it had been mixed with golden syrup and the Strawberry Jam wasn't so much jam it was more Hartley strawberry jelly that hadn't quite set. My biggest bugbear in hotels are shower curtains that stick to you when your in the shower here it is bad. Would I return here? probably yes but not planning to. Collapse

Wonderful warm friendly welcoming staff especially Russian Irini and Cypriot Ana. Hotel caters to Russians. All the signs are in Russian and English! All women catering staff are from Georgia all male staff from Eastern Europe. Good place to practice your Russian!! Right opposite the excellent Kings Mall. On bus route to Coral Bay. Otherwise you need a car. Walk to waterfront/port is perhaps a good 20/25 minutes. I was there 6/1 - Russian Xmas. Used by tour operators when season starts on 1/4. Easy to meet people sitting by the cozy log fire in the delightful stone fireplace. The decor is quirky and well executed. Murals abound in all the corridors and bedrooms. Comfortable beds. Spotless. Only drawback is the wifi which has weak signals and goes on and off. Other than that -a perfect holiday place. 10% discount 3 nights and 15% for 7 nights offered. In season there is a nice garden and pool. Highly recommended. Collapse

We stayed in this hotel from 26 December until 2nd January, it's a very comfortable little hotel, very good location, 10-15 minutes to the port and a lovely new shopping centre across the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was quite small, but the big mirrors made it look bigger. The room and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean, quite comfortable beds, spare pillows and duvet if you wanted them, there was plenty of wardrobe and draw space. The restaurant was very nice, tables laid up nicely for breakfast and dinner and the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly . breakfast was very good, everything that you would want, evening buffet was nice, lots of different salads and meat and fish, but the hot food needed to be a bit hotter as it was just warm. The only thing we thought was a bit of a let down was that it was a bit noisy in our room 105 is there must have been an extractor fan under our room or could have been a boiler as it made quite a bit of noise going on and off all the time, and when you had the door open it was very loud, but all in all we had a pleasant stay, and we also had a wonderful new years eve gala dinner and entertainment and that night the food was exceptional, thank you to all at the roman hotel x Collapse
