We stayed here in March in a "superior" room for 4 weekday nights purchased at an excellent price through Expedia. This made it very good value and had I been paying twice as much I would have given 4 blobs. It's location, near the bottom of the furnicular and not quite in the centre of the action, is still very convenient for Charles Bridge, Petrin Hill, Lesser Town and New Town (over the next bridge along from Charles Bridge). Old Town is also about 20 mins walk. The Castle is walkable but also the no. 22 tram which stops almost outside gives an easier option up to the castle. Our superior room was spacious with a huge bed made from two singles. Plenty of hanging spaces, cupboards, drawers and a dressing table ( a plug and a light near this would have been appreciated for makeup and hair straighteners though there are plenty of plugs around the room). The bedroom, bathroom, linen and towels were all properly clean. The shower room was a good size and included a bidet (!), no bath. The bar/reception area has plenty of relaxed seating. Staff were helpful and prices reasonable for a hotel bar. Breakfast is a continental breakfast with loads of choice. For hot food there was scrambled egg, which I liked, boiled eggs, frankfurter style sausages and beans/rice/potato fritters (varied from day to day); cold choice of meats, cheeses, salad; cereals, fruit, yoghurts; choice of breads, rolls, pastries. I can imagine this being a busy affair at peak times. On your last day they will look after your luggage after check out. Our room was at the front of the hotel with a view over the road towards the park. The rumble from the trams was inevitably noticeable, though surprisingly unintrusive. It didn't disturb us but sensitive sleepers could be better off avoiding rooms at the front. Tea, coffee and milk to use with the tea making facility in the room had to be requested from reception. Firstly this hotel classes itself as 4 star and it’s not it’s more like standard 3 star at best. I did find it to be in a good location for sightseeing. We upgraded to a superior room but I wouldn’t waste your money as it turned out to be just a family room so a basic room with another single bed in which we didn’t need ! If it states tea and coffee facilities in room that’s another misconception you get a tea bag and sugar sachet and that’s it no milk or coffee. Also if they give you room 101 change it as the trams run consistently right outside ur double glazed windows and omg they are noisy. I’m normally a good sleeper and can deal with a bit of noise but this was relentless !! The rooms were reasonable clean and the bed was two single beds pushed together with a double bed sized throw/quilt over so unless you both sleep slap bang in the middle and hope you don’t fall down between the beds you can share the quilt if not be prepared to discuss who will get to use the cover that night. Breakfasts were not like website pictures at all. The ‘fresh fruit ‘consisted mainly of apples and oranges and no berries were to be seen ( I ended up purchasing some from the local shop). However on our first morning they had cut up a few kiwi and actually opened a few fresh bananas but they had cut them in half and left them on a tray and they had started to go brown .. yuk. Cereals I thought were more child based eg chocolate coco balls however we did to our amusement watch the versatile use of dry porridge oats which was added to the bowl of raisins when the levels got low. If you like bread then you will be fine as a third of the buffet is bread rolls and fingers crossed your not needing gluten free! Our stay was part of a package deal but I would not chose to stay again. Collapse

The hotel is a 4* hotel however I found the amenities very basic. The rooms are quite outdated, both in decor and facilities. The lobby is large for the hotel, and the bar has friendly staff. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard. Breakfast was mediocre. The first day there was not as much selection and the breads were quite stale. The second day it was a lot better. It was what I would expect for the price. It is in a decent location, not far from the main sights and with a few restaurants and shops around. Would recommend if on a budget. Collapse
