The hotel offered by Superbreak was wonderful at an extremely reasonable price. Cork is a much slower place than our previous visits to Dublin, for a base to explore the surrounding areas rather than a total holiday I would like to highly recommend the Rochestown Park Hotel to anyone visiting the Cork (Douglas area). Cork is about a 4km walk from the hotel. Collapse

We stayed in the Rochestown Park Hotel last weekend, and were treated to a fantastic experience. We stayed in room 511, when we walked in the room was lit up in fabulous pink lights! The kids got a great kick out of it! Actually, you can change the ceiling lighting to a variety of colours.. good fun! The room was very spacious, the bathroom was spotlessly clean and a great shower, the beds were fabulous, they just ate you up, and wouldn't let you get out of them.. (funny about that!) The front of house staff were so delightfully pleasant to deal with, and couldn't be more helpful, the breakfast was supurb.. so many choices, and healthy options for those of us who need help in that area! Overall, it was an excellent experience, I would recommend staying here. We will certainly be back. Collapse

Two is probably a little harsh but I don't think it was worth a three. Having just stayed in a wonderful hotel in Porto it probably made it even worse. Right from the start there were problems. One of the cupboards opened out into the doorway of the bathroom. My wife called me to look at something in the bathroom and as I was looking down I forgot the the cupboard door was open and cracked my head on the door causing it to bleed quite badly. Though I was a little careless the design is appalling and thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I did mention it to a manager and he did check on me the following day but I would prefer it if the design was changed. The room was poorly lit though it did have mood lighting which was alright at first but the mood soon faded. Worst of all was the temperature in the room, it was stifling at 26 degrees C. There was a fan but it did little to alleviate the heat. I told reception about it and they said they would get the maintenance team to look at it and bring up a second fan, that never materialised. The location is quite good, it is close to the airport and Cork City centre. It is within walking distance of Douglas which for a small town has plenty of shops as well as bars and restaurants. Just be aware that if you are walking from the hotel there is no footpath going in or out of the hotel so you take you life into your hands as the cars turn in quite quickly. The breakfast was ok but way overpriced. All in all not a great experience and I don't think I would choose to stay here again. Collapse
Room for Improvement - Just Average.

Stayed for three days just before Christmas on Business. I found the bedroom was nice and modern and the hotel itself was quite modern. It just lacked atmosphere throughout. The breakfast was good on the first two days as it was made to order due to renovations being carried out in the normal Breakfast area. On the third day the hot breakfast was a buffet and some of it was either overcooked (eggs) or possibly not cooked at all (Pudding) Evening meals were good and in particular the stuffed mushrooms. What really let the hotel down for me was the staff on both reception and the cleaning staff. The staff on reception were unhelpful and really seemed to be uninterested and lacking of general customer training. I had a complaint which was casually accepted and never followed up on by three different members of reception staff including one lady who seemed to be a Manager. The cleaning staff were not particularly good either. There was a bad smell in parts of the Hotel at all times as well. This was my first stay in this hotel and for me I was expecting more from a four star. There are a lot of Hotels in Cork and I would be staying elsewhere in future. Collapse

Room - comfortable bed and well presented space. No Phone in room. No iron or ironing board. I was there for an event, staff were short tempered and rude. Basic service at best. Checked in and was required to sign a document basically stating I would behave myself for the duration of my stay. Im 30 years old, i know how to act in public. Furthermore I was required to wear a wristband in order to access my room, I asked the receptionist if all guests were required to do this. No they were not, just those attending the event. I needed an Iron on the evening of my check in, when i informed reception that I hadnt one they said I should have called down. They seemed indifferent to the fact there was no phone in the room. Asked at reception if I could get some food to my room. I was told no. Despite 24 hour room service being advertised in the room. Overall it seems as though the rochestown pick and choose who they treat with the most basic of service. If you are attending a large event I would expect that you would be treated as an inconvenience as opposed to a paying guest. Just when there was some redemption to be had, I was given a free late checkout, only to have housekeeping come in to my room in the morning anyway. Good beds, poor service and rude staff. Collapse

What a strange higgledy piggledy hotel no clear signage as you drive in so we were unsure where to park .Went right down to the back to what looked like a main entrance with large pillars and revolving door only to step into a completely deserted hotel ! Had to wander through empty corridors before stumbling across a bar and reception area! Staff quite rude and uninterested actually shockingly bad if I'm honest - we were blown out of the way several times by suited male employees in particular .Must mention the young male lifeguard who was very friendly toward us and had plenty of tips on places to eat in Douglas. Pool was very nice but there was nothing for kids to do at all very boring for them which was a pity.Room was okay felt like we paid a lot more than we should it didnt feel worth the money which was a pity ,our stay was very inpersonal definitely will not be returning Collapse
