We have family in Dublin and stay in this hotel every time we visit. We book the family room and stay from between 5-10 nights each time. (Your website offers deals on all rooms except the family room which is very disappointing and unfair on families) In the past we have always enjoyed our stay and have never had any negative experiences or anything to complain about. This year however was the complete opposite. We booked and stayed from the 3rd Aug -8th Aug in a family room. We were not the only family members to book a room at this time, on our recommendation our aunt and uncle also booked single rooms for these dates. We were there to celebrate our "Matriarchs" (Mums) 80th Birthday. Family members joined us in the Lounge from Scotland, England, New York as well as Dublin and surrounding areas every day. We ate in the hotel nearly every day in large numbers but found the service and waiting times very disappointing. Our food on the 3rd Aug took nearly 3 hours from ordering to eating! We were advised that there had been a problem with staffing in the kitchen. There was 2 other large parties in eating that night and the staff were unable to cope with this. We found our food bills were always incorrect, at times we were overcharged, we were billed for food we did not order or were charged for more than once. Some of the food was disappointing with some in our party unable to eat what they had ordered. On our past visits we took advantage of a swim in the pool with our children. This year we were charged €3 euros per swimming cap for each of us (€12 for 4). We have swam in the pool every year previously and borrowed the caps, we have never been charged for them before. We did not mind paying for these as it is the hotels policy that these must be worn. What we did mind however was purchasing swim caps that were worn and old, not new! ☹️Surely if your policy is that these caps must be worn either supply them new for €3 or allow your guests to borrow used ones? After many mix ups with our bills (we have since had time to check after paying and now know we were overcharged more than once!) and poor service we as a whole family felt really disappointed with our stay overall I don't think based on this stay I would recommend anyone stay or eat here in large numbers. Very unsatisfactory especially as it was for an extremely special occasion Collapse

My partner and I arrived at the hotel at 1am as our flight was delayed. We deliberately didn't get food en route as I had asked for sandwiches to be given to us on arrival. When we arrived, however, the member of staff had no clue what we were talking about. He did look in the fridge, and offered us some crisps and fruit from his own packed lunch, but we declined. When we got to the room we discovered that our room key didn't work, so my partner had to go back to reception to get a new one. We discovered every single time we left the room and returned we had to get a new room card, which was highly frustrating. Luckily we only stayed 2 nights, so only needed to replace the key about 6 times. The room was big and looked lovely, and the bed was comfortable; but the walls were so thin we could hear the conversations next door, which kept us up in the night. We decided to have room service for dinner both nights. The food arrived quickly, was hot and tasted delicious. We wanted to have some spa treatments during our stay but was told that we needed to book in advance and that no slots were left, which was disappointing. So we used the pool, hot tub and steam room instead. We were the only people using the facilities at the time which was nice. I was a bit disappointed that the lockers didn't have any locks on them so I had to leave my belongings in the room and come down in my swimwear. We were also forced to buy swim-hats, which I wish we had been warned about prior to our stay as I would have brought one from home. When we checked out I discovered that we had been charged for the sandwiches we didn't get on arrival. We were refunded, but it annoyed me. I have rated 'average' because the hotel was clean and looked nice; the staff were friendly; and the location was perfect for what we wanted to do (visit Wicklow Mountains & The 'Guiness Lake'), but there were too many negatives which frustrated us during the visit.
