My family and I stayed at the Riviera for a week from Monday 31st July until Monday 7th August as we were visiting Venice celebrating my daughter's 21st Birthday. On arrival at the hotel at 9.30 pm we checked in, the woman on the front desk was quite unfriendly and demanded my passport and said we would get it back in 10 minutes and handed us 1 door key., and told breakfast was 7.30-10. we went up to the room on the first floor (no 8) it had a very large, beautiful Venetian style bed, and one camp bed at the foot and one at the side, it was quite a large room and would be fantastic for two people but was cramped with a family of four (my children are 21 and 12) . The bathroom was old fashioned and compact with a shower over the bath and a doors that opened on to a tiny balcony ( not large enough to sit on but nice to look out of). We put our cases in and went in search of something to eat, I asked about my passport on the way out and was abruptly told it was not ready.. We came back an hour later and retrieved my passport from the again unfriendly reception staff. We had an uncomfortable night as they air conditioning in the room was inadequate (this was the case for our whole stay). In the morning I sat on the communal terrace at the end of the corridor on the first floor, this was lovely with fantastic views of Venice and we spent quite a lot of time there during our stay. Breakfast which was included in our stay was....ok...a large selection of fruit, cakes and pastry, boiled and scrambled eggs, ham and bacon, fruit juice and water. You had to ask for tea and coffee and sometimes had quite a wait but overall the two ladies who were in the breakfast room were more friendly than the reception staff. The room was cleaned each day but this was not a full clean...beds were made and most (not all days ) the bins were emptied but the floors were not cleaned. We explored the hotel looking for the sauna/ hot tub and other terrace as I had read the hotel had these facilities,( we had no info from staff) I found the terrace on the top floor but it was very windy so we did not use it. And came across the "spa" on first glance this looked quite nice, a sauna, two exercise bikes and a hot tub with the cover on. However my husband pulled the cover back on the hot tub and we could see tiny creatures moving in the water...needless to say we did not use this facility! The hotel is typically Venetian in style with retro quirky features and is in a fantastic location across the road from the water bus into Venice and walking distance from lots of bars and restaurants and the beach. Perfect position for a family visit to Venice as it is nice to come back to Lido in the evening after sightseeing for a more relaxed atmosphere. However I would not recommend the hotel or stay there again as we felt the staff were very unfriendly, we were given no information at all about any facilities in the hotel or surrounding area and believe there are much better hotels in the area. At our arrival there vas some errors in our booking but the hotel staff (totally innocent) did their very best to accommodate us, although they did not have vacant double rooms. The staff made their most spacious single room into a tiny but functional double! The breakfast is nice (although there are a lot of sweet cakes). Not to mention that the location is superb! Collapse

What a fantastic hotel! It is literally a minute from the transport links and there are plenty of places close at hand for evening meals, snacks etc. Our rooms were lovely, spacious, comfortable and very clean. We particularly loved the shutters on the windows, lovely touch. The staff were all very friendly and a good breakfast is included in the price. The public rooms are all beautiful and very comfortable. There is also a shop where you can buy souvenirs. They will also store your luggage for you which was a great help to us. Definitely coming back! Collapse

I stayed at this hotel 9 years ago, and it was just as I remembered it: sort of shabby chic. The hotel is located right across the street from the vapretto stop on the Lido, making it super convenient. The hotel is clean and was obviously well built, but it could stand some updating. Some of the rooms have lovely little balconies looking out toward Venice. The breakfast was very good with many choices, including mimosas. My biggest complaint is that the beds were very hard--although I was so tired from traveling from the US and then walking around Venice, the mattress didn't keep me from sleeping. Collapse
