The hotel was very good. The food we had in various restaurants was very good. We visited all the known tourist sites and enjoyed them all. Only drawback was the crowds at all sites apart from that it was a great 5 days See more

i stayed here with my family from the 2nd to the 6th of October and i was delighted with our choice of hotel. Our trip did not get off to the best of starts as our sons suitcase had not come through baggage claim. The desk at Rome airport was pretty manic so we were quite stressed by the time we arrived at the River Palace. We used the Hotel transfer service and although we were late coming out we managed to find our driver and the transfer was quick and comfortable. The check inn was very good and the gentleman on reception told me they would keep in contact with the airport until our sons luggage arrived. The Hotel is deceptive as behind the rather plain exterior the inside is very plush with ornate decoration and lots of marble. The hotel is also very clean and diffuses give the reception a nice aroma. My wife and i stayed in a classic double and our son had a classic double for single occupation. We always research our hotels before we book so we were expecting the room to be small. The classic rooms are small but beautifully decorated and everything worked as it should the air con was good and the shower was nice and powerful. The bed was very comfortable and the housekeeping was excellent. All these points are more important to us than the actual size of the room. The happy hour in the bar runs from 5pm to 10pm and really sets the hotel apart from other hotels. there is a very good choice of complimentary snacks during the happy hour and the drink prices are very reasonable. Even outside the happy hour we found the prices to be very good compared with bars in the locality. The Breakfast was very good with a good choice and really excellent coffee, i loved the espresso and my wife loved the lattes. what really makes this hotel is the excellent staff. i would like to thank the reception for communicating with the airport and ensuring our suitcase arrived the day after we arrived. The staff in the breakfast room were very friendly and the bar staff provided a great service. We found the hotel to be ideally located for everything we wanted to do. We never used public transport and walked to all the main attractions. The spanish steps was about 20min walk with an additional 10mins to the trevi fountain and a further 10 to the Pantheon. The Colosseum was 45 mins but all flat. We walked to the Vatican and this was also 45 mins. i would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone who appreciates quality rather than the size of rooms and would once again like to thank all the staff at the hotel for making us feel very welcome. Great location but felt overpriced for what you got...

Recently visited the River Palace hotel and although the location was great, it just felt a little overpriced for the room. Don't get me wrong, the room was a nice size, we had a view over the courtyard but - for over €200 a night - I'd expect a coffee machine, bath robes, free bottled water, and quiet air conditioning. The service was always friendly but it just felt unpolished for that price. The decor was also a little outdated and tired. Again, though, I would recommend as the location kind of makes you overlook these things but as to if I'd stay again - I'd be interested in finding somewhere where I'd feel like I was getting a €200 room and not just the location. I was extremely impressed with this hotel and considering the fact that I booked off Hotwire and expected to get a lesser room, I was doubly surprised. I arrived at the hotel rather early (10 a.m.) and was nevertheless allowed to access my room right away which was unexpected but nevertheless appreciated. The staff at the front desk were extraordinarily accommodating and helpful. The rooms, as advertised, are rather small but from my experience this is the case in many if not most hotels in Italy. All the same, it was tastefully decorated and completely clean. Breakfast, which was included in the rate, in my view was fantastic. In addition to the usual suspects in continental breakfast buffets, you could find eggs, bacon, sausage and even prosseco! Lots of coffee options. Everything was of high quality. The staff were great. The hotel is located two short blocks from the Flaminio metro station which will take you anywhere in the city. I didn't take advantage of the 5-10 "happy hour" but my understanding is that drinks were half price for those who stayed at the hotel and there was a lavish spread of food. There is also a great Pizza place a block away at 24 via Flaminia where cheap slices of Roman deliciousness are sold for very cheap. All in all I was extremely impressed and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Collapse

We arrived at our hotel which was located just off the Piazza del Pipolo in Rome. Steps from city trains. Shopping and restaurants across the piazza. Great staff, clean rooms, nice bar and sitting area. Breakfast was wonderful. Asked us if we would like an espresso or cappuccino every day. There was always tea and coffee as well as prosecco and juices. Breakfast buffet was hot and cold and plentiful. Happy hour in the bar at 5 pm with half price drinks and lovely appetizers. The desk hosts could not have been more helpful with any questions or directions. The rooms were SMALL. We had a superior room but the full bed and two small nightstands were all that fit in that room. There was perhaps 18 inches surrounding it in which to walk. BUT...We were not there to stay in our room. If you can put up with tight quarters I would recommend it. Collapse

I stayed here for 3 nights to explore Rome. The hotel itself is a lovely old building but quite nice on the inside. It's located on a relatively quiet street and near a metro station. I walked to all the sites from the hotel, the Colleseum is 45 minutes and the Vatican is 30 minutes walk. So it's in a pretty good location, the only downside was most of the good restaurants and nightlife were also about 30 minutes walk so it's a good place if you're mobile. The room was small, but fine for what I needed. Wifi was good and free. The bed was on the firmer side, ok for me but certainly not a soft bed. The only downside of the room was although there was no street noise I did get a bit of hallway noise. I slept with earplugs as I often do and it didn't bother me. The aircon is great - quiet and effective. The breakfast buffet is excellent with everything you need to get you going. I had the hotel arrange for a pick from the airport as I was arriving late. It was 55 euros, though the driver drove as fast as he could and didn't have change so it cost me 60 euros. I think taxis are about 48 euros. Going to the airport I took the train, it's easy enough to catch the metro near the hotel to Terminii and then the train to FCO. Overall it's a beautiful boutique hotel with a great breakfast. Location is good if you don't mind a bit of a walk. The staff were always very friendly and attentive. Collapse
