The hotel is located in a private area and for most people to far to walk to restaurants in the heat in August in Florida. There is a $40.00 valet parking only charge per night which we were not aware off. There is a resort fee for beach chairs, internet, spa for $ 28.00. We first had it included but after seeing the beach we canceled it because we were not going to use it. So much Sea grass and murky ocean water. We come from Marco Island and have wonderful beaches there, so not a big priority for us. Room and hotel was fine, check in personnel was helpful and changed room to a higher floor, which was our original request. Services was mediocre and left a lot to be desired. It seemed personnel did not really care. There are 2 pools, one which was a family pool was very crowded, the other adult pool was very warm and in the heat in August in FL you expect to go into a pool which will cool you off, wrong! Felt like a bathtub. The railing going into the pool and the pool ladder were so hot, you could not touch them. I would expect that a different material would be used to prevent that. My husband burned the inside of his hands not realizing in the first second how hot the railing was going down the pool ladder. There is paint or plastic cover, cool water going over railing which could prevent that. Ordered a Mojito at the pool, waitress came back with two, told me the bartender made a mistake and made to much. Told me she would leave both and charge me for one. As I drank it, I realized, that it had very little taste and he forgot to put any alcohol in or may be just got to diluted because he misjudged proportions. Lots of ice, cheaper than ingredients. It took awhile for her to come back so I returned drink to her, never was asked do you want something else, told her he forgot the Liquor. I was charged the full $18.00 for the drink plus tax and service. Lunch at the pool, the Hamburgers we ordered came from the Dunes restaurant which is a Hamburger restaurant right next to the pool. The $20.00 Hamburger was ordered medium rare, came back well done and crumbly. Would not go back to that restaurant or to the hotel. Worst Hamburger, I hope it was Beef. You expect food at the Ritz to be expensive but you also expect good quality to go along with the high price. The pool chairs get sun most of the time since umbrellas don't tilt, the shadier side of the pool was taken by 3 cabanas, which could be reserved and I did not see one person sitting in there in the 3 days we were there. We could not find a seat at the pool which was shady, so there was a Gazebo which had a lounge chair for 2 and was shady. The pillows where stained and dirty, so we turned them around, not clean but better. I went to the family pool to get towels to be put over the dirty pillows and was informed by attendant that those towels were only available at the pool. Refused to give me the towels even so the Gazebo was on Ritz Carlton property 10 yards from the pool. I received an email hoping we loved our stay and what could they do to help, explained towel situation, never heard back on that email either.. We checked out the 14th of August. I told the desk person we were overcharged for the internet he assured me he would fix it, never did. I asked to receive my bill via email. Left my email address and never received a copy of the bill. As a member of the Marriott Awards Club I expected much more from this hotel because of being a Ritz- Carlton. I pre booked the hotel and it was higher priced then it is now on the internet and they also offered free breakfast on the internet if staying for 3 days or more when we were there, I would have hoped to at least be told that if you stay 3 days you get free breakfast, but did not happen, we were there for 3 nights. I will not return to this hotel. Rooms are cheaper of season Collapse

I dont think I've ever been to a hotel like this. The moment you step foot on the property until the last step off the property you are in excellent hands. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The grounds are breathtaking. Everything is so well maintained . The variety of food and drinks is amazing. And the beds are so comfortable. Coming from Switzerland, I was looking forward to a beautiful ocean front room. It was a dream come true. I cant wait to go back ! Collapse

We stay at Ritz's often, including the Ritz in South Beach and Orlando, and this property's service level is just below par (even when compared to St. Regis or Four Seasons). The hotel states that it has a house car to take guests anywhere on Key Biscayne, but twice when we requested a ride in the house car, once for an early dinner and once for a hotel booked water activity, we were told they were short staffed or too busy, and we should take a cab. This is not Ritz Carlton service. Moreover, some of the staff were even unsure as to when the house car was available-what hours-especially Carol, the concierge, who was truly dismissive of us when we asked for the car to take us to an activity a few minutes away. Also, several of the staff at the front desk in the morning had no idea when the house car ran, until a manager confirmed to us, it should indeed always be available. In addition, there were two days when they did not clean our room at all. For example, we called at 2pm to let housekeeping know we would be leaving and asked if they could service the room please. They never did. Finally, we told them to just clean it every day at noon. Yet, they still knocked on our door every morning thereafter at 9am to clean the room-and once even when we had the do not disturb sign on! We later stayed at the St. Regis, and they had a house car to drive us to dinner every night, without the difficulties and unpleasantness we encountered at this Ritz. The management here needs to better train its staff as to the service level to be provided by a luxury hotel and by the Ritz brand. They truly fall short. Collapse

Wow! What a fabulous stay we had here. We had a late flight, but we were whisked into our room with no issues and we were able to order room service (24hrs) before we settled down for bed! Restaurants were so excellent, we never left the resort for the two short days we were there! There are 3 different restaurants on site, while we didn't get to experience the gourmet burgers at Dunes, we were able to have great meals (and great conversation with the bartenders) at Lightkeepers. The Mexican restaurant was quite good as well! Excellent margaritas! We also had spa services that were out of this world! Super relaxing couples massage followed by a little time in the sauna (separated by male and female). The rum bar was a great added touch to this resort. If rum is your thing, definitely visit here. The menu was DEEP! I'm not a rum drinker, but they had other cocktails to choose from as well. I loved how close the beach chairs are to the water! You walk down there and an attendant will set you up with chairs and an umbrella quickly and then you are free to wade around in the delicious warm ocean. It was so good that we woke up early (and we are NOT morning people) the day we were leaving just to get some more time on the beach. Just lovely. Overall, it was pricy (as you would expect from a Ritz), but you pay for what you get. We were spoiled and cared for from the beginning to end! We will most certainly make a return to this resort and if you haven't gone, go ahead and book your trip! Collapse
