My family and I recently stayed at this amazing hotel. We have stayed in many hotels around the world for business and pleasure but I have to say this hotel and experience was the best. We booked 3 rooms and they were positioned next to each other on the second floor. They all overlooked the canal and swimming pool, they also had a balcony to sit out and enjoy the view. We stayed on a half board basis so tended to have breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and purchase lunch in the Alfresco bar. The food in the restaurant was a buffet style and whilst they changed a large majority of the food each day there were also some regular favourites to choose from too. The food itself was very tasty and the staff were so helpful. Sometimes staff can appear false and you know when they ask if everything is ok they are simply saying what they have been told to say and often when you are putting food into your mouth. But I can assure you the staff were genuinely concerned about how well you were enjoying the food and the experience. Not that there was anything to complain about, but it was clear from everyone working in the restaurant and hotel that there was a sincere desire by all to help and if there was anything wrong with your stay, food or drinks that it would be sorted out ASAP. On the whole the food and drink is expensive especially as there are multiple taxes added onto every bill, but this was not unusual and was to be expected, but then again the quality of food and service that was given by everyone meant that it was worth it. I can't thank everyone enough for the experience and feelings we had during the past 7 days. Everyone working in the hotel from the reception staff, tour operator, room service, pool attendants, restaurant staff etc etc... equally played a part in making our first visit to Abu Dhabi an enjoyable one. We felt that we were a valued and respected customer as well as friend visiting a family environment. For example the restaurant staff got to know our drinks order, preferences and room numbers without having to ask. Similarly the staff in the Al fresco bar also got to know us, and treated us very well and took time to learn what foods we didn't like or left on our plate so in order for a us not to leave anything they remembered it and made sure that certain foods were not served as part of the dish when we ordered it the next time. The staff also gave us (6 adults) a free mocktail and dessert to say goodbye. The staff at the pool were also very attentive, provided us with a constant supply of ice cold water and towels. My list of praise, recommendations and appreciations are endless, but as you can gather from my comments so far that I would strongly recommend that if you are thinking about visiting Abu Dhabi then don't look anywhere else, this is an amazing place and I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed. Having never reviewed on Tripadvisor, my husband and I felt compelled to write our first review having had such an amazing experience at the Ritz-Carlton, Abu Dhabi. We visited the hotel for a final holiday as a couple pre-baby (I was 26 weeks pregnant) and were anticipating a relaxing time with guaranteed great weather but what we got was so much more than this (I ended up calling the holiday our 'babymoon'-it was a truly special 12 days!) To begin with we were offered a superb deal on an upgrade which meant we had a fantastic suite overlooking the beautiful grounds and large pool. The room was kept immaculately by the staff and turn down service was always a welcome treat! We had another surprise as the staff arranged a birthday cake and balloons to be put in the room to celebrate (the chocolate crunch cake was delicious!). As part of the upgrade we had access to the Club lounge which went far beyond our expectations. The service was so personal with staff getting to know us and our drinks order. The lounge was very tastefully decorated, light, airy and spacious with a superb view. A special mention has to be given to April who, on discovering I was pregnant, arranged for a personally handwritten card, cupcake, balloons and my favourite lemon and mint drinks to be presented in our room (it was such a wonderful surprise). The food selection was wonderful, at Breakfast the chefs at the egg station always knew our omelette order and they were delicious. As well as eggs there were fresh juices, fruit, pastries, cereals, cooked breakfast, continental breakfast-we certainly didn't go hungry! Equally dinner had a wide range of tasty offerings. All the waiting staff were incredibly attentive and always ensured we had all we needed though we were particularly blown away by the service Jyoti provided, he got to know us personally and really made an extra effort! In general staff were extremely friendly all around the hotel and we were particularly impressed at the visibility of management, even meeting the General manager at Breakfast time who was very approachable and spoke to us personally. The pool was quiet at the time of year we visited and was a very relaxing place to be with superb service; staff would bring bottles of water on ice, cold towels, smoothie shots and we even had sorbet of an afternoon. Eranga was particularly helpful and would always set up of sun loungers and was incredibly happy to help. The hotel as a whole was beautifully decorated with great services. They run a free shuttle bus to the Grand mosque, there is a superb and fully equipped gym and it is located within easy reach of the corniche (15mins in a taxi). We really experienced first class service from the moment we checked in to our check out (which were able to extend very easily to make our very late flight as stress free as possible). We can't rate the hotel highly enough and would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for making our holiday such a memorable experience. Collapse
Food poising onsite and doubles charges ignored by management

My wife and I stayed at this property for a night on a stop over in Abu Dhabi returning from our honeymoon travels. We chose to stay at the property to relax prior to our long flight back to the US. The hotel grounds and rooms are very nice. However, the customer service and management's response to issues are questionable. Check-in was smooth and we were having a nice time until we ate at their restaurant, Li Jiang. Although the restaurant and staff were very nice, I ended up getting food poisoning and became very sick. As you can imagine, our stay ended up being far from relaxing as a result. At check-out, I shared with the staff what had happened to me after eating at Li Jiang. Although they expressed regrets for me getting sick, they did not notify management of the situation, nor made any notes for further inquiry or action. This is concerning, as management may not become aware that there may be potential issues that need to be addressed. And in the meantime, others may get sick as well. To add salt to injury, I was double charged at check-out for my final bill. This is particularly annoying because during check-out, the staff member kept saying that my card was being denied. The check-out process took longer than usual, and it was embarrassing to have been told around other guests that my card was being denied, while all along it had gone through fine. I had to take the extra step to place a dispute with the credit card for the double charge once I got home. In all, this was a very disappointing experience at this property. We were hoping for a nice way to end our honeymoon prior to returning home, and we certainly did not get that. Furthermore, I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of action from the staff when I notified them that I had gotten sick from the restaurant at the property, and the way in which the check out was later conducted. More concerning is the fact that I even sent an email to the Ritz Carton's "WeCare" address explaining what had happened and sharing my concern with the restaurant's food safety (screen capture of the email attached), only to never receive a response or acknowledgement. This definitely not what one expects at a Ritz Carlton property. Collapse

The restaurants and hotel staff were disinterested and you felt like you were imposing on them. It was a dreadful experience. It was the first Ritz i have ever experienced this at. I have not returned since. Fairmont is better priced and superior in device by far. Collapse
