The hotel is quite nice, although I would be hesitant to call it Luxury or a resort. Simple things were missing such as bathroom amenities etc - things you associate with a luxury resort. I found the service quite good with the exception of the concierge staff, I felt like I had to keep asking questions to get information, it wasn't forthcoming. One in particular did not stop typing while talking to me. The small cafe/store has some great little option for a cheaper breakfast option and also items you can get for a packed lunch if you are heading on out for the day. Over all a nice hotel. Collapse

I organized a conference at the Rimrock Hotel in September. The Event staff is fantastic. Very easy to work with and responsive, which is a plus when you're organizing an event from another country. The hotel itself is very good, but there are improvements to be made. First thing is that a hotel of that level should count on rates that include breakfast. They have a buffet breakfast at the Primrose restaurant and also a la carte options (and a coffee shop). However, for the a la carte menu, there is no consistency in the pricing. We paid three different prices for the same item: it all depended on how the server would describe it on the check and that is not acceptable for a hotel of that level. I was traveling with my husband and two kids (a 4 year-old boy and a 8 month-old girl). Only in the fourth day of the trip were we informed that we could serve them with fruit from the buffet without charge. The high chairs were always dirty and I would carry a tissue with me to clean them. It does not seem to be a practice to wipe them after use, which is complicated as babies tend to do a lot of mess when eating and even though I tried to collect the food she dropped, the tray would still be dirty. The housekeeping was not very attentive. We would tip everyday, but even though we left the towels on the floor, they didn't look like they were changed, as the folding was not carefully made - it seemed to be the old towels. Also, we had water from the room and the bottles were not replaced. There was a vending machine on the floor, but I understand that if there is housekeeping and there is water in room, which would be paid for - it should be replaced. The restaurants are good, with good options and prices are compatible with Banff. Room service worked well all the times we ordered and food was delivered flawless and within 20-25 minutes. Although it is called a resort, I thought the pool to be very small. We did not use the pool, so I cannot evaluate about the water, temperature or anything like that. The staff was friendly and kind. The view from our room was amazing and the location is privileged if you want to go to the Sulphur Mountain or to the Hot Springs. Although I liked the overall experience, I think the hotel is a bit overpriced for what it offers and for a second time in Banff I would try another property downtown. Collapse
Walk to gondola

We elected the chateau side and overlooked the parking lot. The lift was a short walk. We enjoyed our stay but found tiny toiletries were small for rate charged. The check in lady was rude to this senior citizen who was paying a lot for 2 nights.

The room was nice . The television was terrible every time you learned it on they were trying to sell you something. No simple instructions. The real problem with this hotel is food and beverage service. Restaurant service which is greatly hyped came up way short. Our 40th wedding anniversary we choice this hotel because of the reputation for strong service and great food both were under delivered.Made a reservation 6 months out requested a window table. Got there a day before went down to restaurant. The restaurant looked nice, well decorated and a good view. As for the window table was told by hostess it was done on a first come first served basis even though we were hotel guest celebrating a special occasion. That evening we came down early to insure we got the table we wanted. That is when the experiences got worse. Waiter said they were short waiters and that was OK because he would make more money but he was tired and really did want to be there. Not one time did anyone ask us was everything satisfactory or congratulations on your anniversary. Next next day I complained at the front desk to very nice night auditor who was very concerned Emmanuel was is name. Later in morning he saw me and informed the Assistant Manager of the restaurant wanted to see me apologies as matter of coerces with no since of sincerity. Get this man out of my way I got other things to do. We also ate in the bar and had light dinner due to the wonder lunch and service we on the Rocky Mountaineer Train. The Deluxe Nachos were expensive and were no better than Texas High School football game experiences. This hotel is about making money. Management is hard to find at this hotel because they don't focus on guest needs. Collapse

we spent two nights at this hotel. We arrived around 3.30pm and our room wasn't ready yet, so they gave us a drink in the bar until it was available. Sadly, since we had an excursion the next day we had no time to go round the town or visit the gondola or hot springs nearby. With the hotel outside the town, it was the first place on the excursion pick up and the last place to be dropped off, so we got back to the hotel much later than we had anticipated, which was then a bit of a problem sorting out the next day's activities. But the hotel itself was really nice, good dinner in the bar, great breakfast and nice dinner. The view was great from the hotel, and we were lucky that there wasn't too much smoke around on our visit as it got really bad a couple of weeks later. All in all a great place to stay, but maybe reception needed to be speeded up a little as there always seemed to be a small queue. Great venue if you're visiting the hot springs of gondola as it is on your doorstep. We had no time to visit the hotel spa which was a pity. The bar staff and breakfast staff especially were so friendly and helpful. Collapse
