Seen reviews for this hotel and am a great believer in you get what you pay for. Hotel very clean, most staff helpful, few not so! Room we had overlooked pool area, quite noisy air con but it worked. We went half board, food hit and miss at times, if you want to eat in pleasant noiseless environment where the staff effortlessly move silently clearing tables, book in to the Savoy!! Very busy, loud and you dont want to stay.Closes at 9.30 for breakfast frequent queues to get table. Pool area clean, loungers hard plastic so bring padding, typically prime ones taken and reserved, which was annoying.Overall we enjoyed our 10 day stay, be aware of mosquitoes. Great bars along strip, Beertual was the best, some great British pubs to be found if you want to talk, Drunken Duck and Crown. Best air con is in the Tabac shop if you need a cool down Collapse

We stayed here for 5 nights half board and it was wonderful. The breakfast is buffet style and there's lots of choices (cereals, pastries, breads, cheese, ham, yoghurt, fruit). The dinner time you could go in once between 1pm and 9pm. The choice was varied and there were different meat items each day (always had one of each; chicken, pork, fish, beef). They had food such as; salad items, soup, pastas, chicken wings, beef slices, chicken nuggets, fish, pizza, hot pots..). The puddings were amazing, jelly and cream, ice cream, fruit, cakes. The pool is lovely, goes from about hip height to shoulder height, I'm 5"3 and I could touch the floor at every part of the pool. Floaties are allowed. Sun loungers get taken quick, and you have to order drinks from their bar and cannot bring your own in. There is entertainment each night; e.g. flamenco dancers, magician, singers, a parrot show (this unfortunately got cancelled :( ). There is a bar that serves drinks and a small selection of food. There are balconies in each room and the showers are wonderful. The safe is about 20 euros for a week with a 10euro refundable deposit. Instead we just put our valuables in our suitcases and locked those. There is a game and internet station downstairs which is 50c for 6 mins and 1euro for 12mins. There was street fighting game, sonic, GTA on there, as well as internet. Internet in general is free at the bar but not the rooms. There is a miniclub on the basement level for kids, but didn't look into that as it was just me and another adult. There are showers and toilets and lockers and lockable rooms downstairs for when you check out but want to go out by the pool or beach during the day. The shower room has 3 cubicles in it and a plug socket for shavers etc. The hotel is right opposite the beach, just a short walk to an underpass which goes under the train tracks. The train station can take you to barcelona (it was 20euros for me and my mum to go to barcelona and back altogether, trains run late into the evening/night). There are loads of bars and restaurants as well as tourist shops and clothes shops just a short walk away. There is a small shop directly opposite to the entrance to the hotel. There is also a slide and swingset next to the hotel for children to use. Collapse

We normally have a self-catering holiday, but as time was limited and school holidays were coming up, my wife did some online searching/reviewing and picked this hotel. So here are the pros and cons for OUR stay. PROS: Pleasant and helpful staff. Simple rooms that are cleaned daily (also replacing the sheets/towels). In-room safe (refundable deposit for the lock/key). LED wall-mounted TV (refundable deposit for the remote control). Nice view, wide balcony. Good air-con (easy to adjust). Bar/restaurant. Pool with plenty of seating/loungers around it. Lockers and storage for suitcases/luggage. Daily evening entertainment. Easy access to the beach and local shops and restaurants. CONS: Breakfast is served between 8am and 9:30am and you have to queue to get a table. The breakfast is truly awful. The coffee isn't freshly made, comes from a machine and is overly sweet. The fruit juices are not cold, nor fresh and seem to be watered down from the machine. The cold food is okay and there is a good selection but the hot food is greasy, fatty and unappealing. On your balcony, there are only 2 chairs and no table. On your balcony, there is no place to hang your wet towels, i.e. no rack. There is no hair dryer in the room. The walls are paper thin. We had ants in our bathroom and we were on the 7th floor. The bar WiFi is dreadful and if you want WiFi in your room, you have to pay. The coffee from the bar is awful. The evening entertainment is bad but hilariously funny if you are not serious about it. Collapse

Our budget for our main summer holiday was tight this year and after much searching I got 7 nights 2 rooms for just under £1500 from a Scottish Airport for this hotel. Great value in anybody's opinion , we have stayed in some great hotels and some not so great , the Reymar Playa sits somewhere in the middle with its value for money making it a good choice on a budget. We're the rooms clean ? ✔️We're the public areas clean ✔️Was check in easy ✔️We're the staff friendly ✔️(Mostly) Did the menu change daily in the restaurant ✔️ Yes the rooms could be updated , yes the staff were not very helpful at times ,when we asked for a first aid kit ,after my wife had fallen the answer was simply no and when we asked for a packed breakfast as we had an early check out ,we were told it was too late as the kitchen had closed 4 minutes earlier ! I've been in the hotel industry for 26 years and I know the kitchen staff would still be there for at least another hour, would have been appreciated if the receptionist had at least asked the kitchen the question. Yes the food was cheaper cuts but you are not going to get prime cuts at the price we paid, it was however well cooked , well seasoned and plenty of variety for all at breakfast and dinner and if you wanted to go out for dinner you could have lunch instead which we did one night . Poolside is small and busy but the beach is literally two minutes away , the beach itself is not suitable for small children as there is a steep incline which dips again when you get in the water. The hotel is well situated with Malgrat on your left ( take a walk to the train station 10 minutes away to explore the costa brava or even Barcelona ) and make sure you walk into the real malgrat across from the train station up the narrow streets to get a real feel of Catalunya with the lively square at the end Santa Susana to the right is a busier resort with newer and bigger holidays which make for a great atmosphere . Malgrat is only 30 minutes from Girona by private transfer we paid £100 with viva transfers and the service was great Would we stay here again ? Probably not but are happy that we made the right choice for our budget this year Collapse
