Similar to previous reviews really, good hotel about 30minutes walk into centre of Reykjavik. Excellent breakfast - note breakfast area not huge and seems to get busy very early around 7.15am as people get picked up for the day trips by about 8.30am. Staff were helpful and nice, rooms ok and large enough - a couple of niggley problems such as the towels are very small and as our room was single glazed so a large amount of condensation built up on the windows Collapse

We have just returned from a 4 night break in iceland staying in the reykjavik lights hotel. A couple of days before I arrived I emailed the hotel as it was my 30th birthday present off my partner, I asked for a room with a view. They replied promptly saying they would try their best. We arrived at 12 noon to be told our room would be ready from 2pm so we placed our bags in the holding rooms and went to explore reykjavik. We returned at around 6pm, straight forward check in, and on entering the room found a lovely note with 2 x chocolate bars and 2 x welcome drinks wishing me a happy birthday - what a lovely touch! Hotel is small, but has everything you need, stunning views of the mountains, a shower to die for, and it's lovely and toasty, the beds/pillows mighty comfy! Reykjavik itself hasn't a lot going on, once you've had a walk into there and seen it there's nothing more to do other than to drink and eat, which comes at a cost. We ate in the new hard rock cafe they wanted 17 pound for a cocktail! - no thanks! The hotel offers a great breakfast, pastries/pancakes/porridge etc the list is endless. There is a geothermal swimming baths about a ten minute walk from the hotel. It is outdoors but warm, has slides and basketball nets and Jacuzzis and costs about 8pp to get in, a tenth of the price of the blue lagoon and my other half favored the baths over the lagoon, definitely worth a visit . Yes the walk is about 30 minutes into town but it's a nice stroll, a bus will cost about 2.50 each, the taxis want about 20 quid which is ridiculous as it's literally a 5 minute drive, we paid it one night as we got stuck in a snow storm and just wanted to get home. We tried the pizza restaurant and chines restaurant nings next to the hotel, both very nice. Overall we had a great stay. Hotel was wonderful no Complaints here. Iceland is great and picturesque and if you've plenty of tours booked then great but if you've no tours booked there isn't a lot to do! Thanks for a great stay! Collapse

We stayed here the for the first and last of our 4 night stay in Iceland. We stayed on the side overlooking the mountains and the view was beautiful- especially at sunrise. The rooms are comfortable with good showers but even if you book a double room - you will still get single quilts lol. Breakfast was great with a good selection of hot and cold food. We didn't have dinner there and the nearby restaurants (there are a few) are quite expensive (as is everything in Iceland). We walked down the road to a 10/11 supermarket where they have a hot food counter which serves amazing chicken and sweet potato dishes for about £12. Would def recommend. The town centre is about a half hour walk but you can get a bus with a two hour travel limit for about £5. Would not recommend staying in Reykjavik for the whole of your stay as not much there so would suggest hiring a car (if you are not on a coach tour) and heading easy for a couple of nights so you can see the glacier lagoons and waterfalls. Overall a beautiful country and would def recommend a visit. Collapse

From the moment we arrived we knew we had chosen well! We were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who very kindly gave us a welcome drink each and a bar of chocolate for my birthday! Our room was ideal. The view was just perfect and my partner being a huge football fan immedietly spotted the football pitch! Very quiet hotel and comfortable. Don't mess with the radiator and crank it up before you go bed you will be gasping for air the next morning!! We timed our walk to the city centre and it's not 20 minutes as advertised but 40. We didn't mind it in the snow, we had a right laugh making snow angels on the way. The breakfast was delicious and had everything you could ever want. The chess board was the cherry on top. I learned how to play at this hotel and bought a set when we got home! We very much enjoyed our stay and if we ever returned we wouldn't stay anywhere else. There's a pizza place next door which serves very nice pizza and quite cheap. There is a also tea and coffee facilities in your room. Thank you for a great stay x Collapse
