My family and I have reservations to stay here for 5 nights in a few weeks. As a lifelong gold member at Starwood I am excited that I now have so many more options. This has been my first experience dealing with a hotel under the Marriott umbrella. I can't tell you how disappointing it has been and am shocked at how indifferent everyone at the hotel, and Marriott corporate has been to the simplest of questions. I made my reservation over the phone. The agent told me that he would put in a request for an upgrade, which was nice. I asked him if I could get the email address for the hotel so that I could send them a simple question about the room. He said no problem. I hung up and checked the email confirmation. No email address. OK, I am sure I can find it online. Marriott makes it incredibly difficult to find email addresses for hotels but I finally found an old PDF document with it and emailed my question to the hotel. After 48 hours no response. I emailed Marriott corporate in case I had an old email address. I asked them the same question and explained that I never heard back from the hotel. Incredibly, no response from corporate either. This was getting annoying so I called Marriott. I asked if I could get a correct email address for the hotel. After being put on hold for 5-10 minutes (shouldn't this be easy?) the agent told me I could email firstname.lastname@example.org. I asked if that was the email for the hotel and she said yes. I asked again (knowing this was just a general guest services email address) if this was the email address that would go to the front desk or manager of the hotel. The agent lied again and said yes. I emailed the address anyway to ask my question a 3rd time. After 48 hours I got (surprise surprise) no response. I went on Marriotts website and chatted with an agent. I asked him for the email address and he sent it to me right away (this was the only acceptable interaction I had during this ordeal out of 6 attempts). The address was the same one I had emailed a week prior but I tried again. I emailed the hotel with my question and, wait for it, still no response after 72 hours. To sum up, I have sent 4 emails, had 2 phone calls, and one online chat trying to get a very simple question answered and absolutely nobody has followed up with me over 2 weeks. I am at wits end and now looking into options for using some leftover Hyatt points or staying somewhere in the Starwood family since this hotel does not seem to care about my business or handling the most basic of requests. I can only imagine that the level of service at the hotel is no better. Collapse

I loved this hotel. We were delayed by a missed flight connection and I called them to explain and they simply altered our dates at no extra charge. They even called me back to follow-up! This hotel was well-located near the train station and an easy walk out the door to all the restaurants, bars and scenery that Amsterdam has to offer. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member we enjoyed complimentary breakfast with excellent coffee, cappuccino and espresso. There were hot and cold breakfast items and the lounge was large enough that there was always room to sit with a clean table. In the afternoon there was complimentary beer and wine and appetizers. Very generous! Our room was very nice, with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. We needed some laundry done and we gave it to staff at 9:00 AM and received it back at 6:00 PM. The price was as expected for laundry done in a nice hotel and for us it was worth it. We stayed two nights and they honored our request for a late checkout. Truly, the staff did everything possible to please us and for that I will be forever grateful. Collapse

Located in a great place, this hotel employs a wonderful staff. The young man who checked us in was delightful and gave us excellent service. Every employee that we encountered was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast offers a wide selection of food and you won't go away hungry. We stayed in the other building, which was an interesting experience. Even though our room number began with a 9, we were on the 4th floor. We had to take 2 different elevators to get to our room, but it wasn't bad once we figured it out. When we looked confused, there was always a member of the staff who was more than willing to help us. Collapse

This hotel is walking distance from the Centraal Station and all of Amsterdam. It’s quite large and caters to the cruise ship crowd. Rooms are a bit small but that’s normal for this city. The Concierge Lounge is worth the upgrade. Don’t expect a full meal but the food is interesting and varied canapés. Three wines “on tap”. Always some nice cheese. Lounge is closed for breakfast on weekends but the restaurant is great. This hotel is my favorite in its price range in Amsterdam. Collapse

I booked three rooms for a family reunion over the telephone as I was told this was a better rate, one the day of our arrival it took over 90 minutes to check us in and once the lengthy process was done we got to our rooms to find they were the wrong configuration so more waiting then to get the right rooms. On the first evening we had a drink in the gloomy bar and I popped up to the room to get something to find it with a serious leak onto the television and down to the carpet - totally drenched between the beds- I told reception who said they could not move us as they were full but could offer a paltry 20% discount. Upon checking out I was told I would receive the refund within 2 hours - that was 10 days ago. In fact not only have I not had a refund they have debited my card again as they say the rate I paid upfront for all three rooms was in fact not correct. I called to find out what was going on and was assured I would receive my refund and and email explaining the situation in three working days - well guess what, nothing. I called again and asked for the manager who was also unhelpful and could not even find my reservation, I asked for her surname so I could make a complaint and she just stayed silent and wouldn't answer until I pressed her fior it. Without doubt categorically the worst customer service I have ever come accross and I will never ever spend my money in a Rensissance Hotel anywhere again. Maybe this review will encourage the senior managers to do something to improve the quality of their staff and get me my refund - 100% not 20%. Collapse
