International, modern, stylish, clean, everything in order and everything one might want; everything but charm. So if you desire warmth and charm, go elsewhere; however, if you are on a mission or have a purpose for being in Aix, the Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel will do splendidly. We chose the Renaissance because it was near The Grand Théatre de Provence where we would be attending an evening performance and then an over-night stay at the hotel. Though Aix is certainly not new to us, this was our first venture into Aix theater and we did not want to exhaust ourselves hunting for the théatre and our seats. We wanted to park the car at the hotel, enjoy our usual haunts of the center of old Aix, catch a nap and dinner at the hotel before Act 1, and enjoy a comfortable night's sleep without too much walking. The hotel could not have been more perfect for our needs; a minute walk through a cultural complex that included our théatre and other venues huddled together under the evening sky. The hotel and the cultural complex of modernistic structures forms a world removed from those Greek-Roman and medieval colors of the centre ville of Aix. The location is an exceptional niche only a ten-minute stroll from the iconic meeting point of Aix, the Fontaine de la Rotonde; the gateway to the lively Cours Mirabeau. From the hotel we took in the splendid, permanent art collection of Jean Planque at the Musée Granet extention [see also Chapelle Granet XXème] and then had lunch along the rue d'Italie. A straight shot west back across the Rotonde for our nap, and then to dinner at 7:30 at the hotel's restaurant. The meal was prepared just in front of us, delicious Mediterranean poison recettes of papillote de cabillaud and lieu. Their service was cordial, attentive, and most importantly, swift enough to make our 8:30 curtain call. These kind of trips to Aix will soon be habit thanks to the Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance Hotel in Aix-en-Provence. The rooms are large (rare in France), functional and clean. The mini Starbucks in the lobby was an especially nice touch. Good location and a short walk to Cours Mirabeau. Parking is available with easy access. Highly recommend leaving the car in the garage while visiting Aix because driving and parking around town is very difficult, especially now that Cours Mirabeau is closed to cars. One night we even Ubered to dinner to avoid the hassle of parking. We will stay here again. Collapse

My newest favorite hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in February. I lived in Aix years ago and this was my first time returning. The Renaissance was located very close to the Cours and walkable to all the quaint cafes and restaurants. The hotel was impeccable. Our room had a view of Mt Sainte Victoire and the bed was so comfortable. The room was expansive, bright, clean and the decor was beautiful. Breakfasts in the restaurant were delicious. Service was top notch. I will be returning next June and will only stay at the Renaissance. Collapse
