Totally honest review from a family perspective. We stayed at the beginning of July for 2 nights. We booked the family deal with Dublin zoo tickets, dinner on the first evening and breakfast both mornings. I was a little nervous about staying after reading some of the reviews and on arrival as we turned the corner I got even more nervous with the appearance of the hotel, however on entering the hotel I noted that it was definitely more modern and nicer looking. We were quickly checked in and given our tickets for Dublin zoo and I was pleasantly surprised when we entered our room. We could immediately smell fresh paint which was nice and our room was really clean and nicely made up. It wasn't a huge room but fitted us all in nicely, the bathroom had little flaws but was clean. I think we stayed in the refurbed part of the hotel as it looked a lot differently than the other part of the hotel where the kids movie night was held. The kids movie night was being hosted by two very young hotel workers but they were pleasant and very helpful. We had our evening meal which also surprised us as it was 3 courses for adults and 2 for children. The food was nice and ok. Not fancy in any way but totally edible, feeling and nice. We had a drink in the bar located in the hotel and it was nice and had tvs to watch. There was music on the second night but we didn't go in. We slept ok, very warm but the beds were comfortable. We didn't use the pool as we couldn't justify paying for the head caps required to use the pool. They were 3 euro each. Our kids were excited to go to the pool but we thought the price was unjustifiable for the length we would be in. The times weren't also suitable as kids weren't allowed in before 9am and after 7pm which meant if your planning to go to Dublin for the day as we did, we would have to cut short our day. Breakfast was a little limited, fry items, wheaten bread, toast and a small selection of cereal and yoghurt. some pastries would of been nice All in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Not worth the price!

I paid approx £220 for a room for one night (breakfast not included). As my partner and I were down to Dublin to watch Coldplay I will admit it was close to Croke Park. Upon arrival the guy on reception assumed my partner and I would want 2 single beds (being 2 guys), when I corrected him and said the double was fine he smirked and went ahead with checking us in. The hotel must of been grand and luxurious at one stage, but it is dated and old now. A bit of reinvestment by the owners would do wonders for the business. The bedroom had old creaky furniture which was too big in a small room, the bathroom was tiny but did have a nice selection of soaps and products. A wet room would be much better here. The room was spotless and there was a kettle and coffee but no tea. Also in the room is an iron plus board and a hairdryer. There was no air conditioning unit and the room was roasting hot.It would have been ok with 2 windows there but we couldn't open them more than a crack. Although we were there on a Saturday the area didn't have much happening and seems to be pretty quiet. The hotel has a pool and leisure facility which we didn't have time to see/experience but you do need a code from reception to get into it. A carvery was offered in the bar/restaurant and upon inspection we decided it would be better to go somewhere else and get something modern. Overall this is a basic hotel offering a basic service and charging far too much money. It has tonnes of potential but the owners seriously need to reinvest and get it up to the standard of the times. Collapse

This was our second time staying in the Regency Hotel, after an absence of several years. Since our last visit to Dublin, the hotel has been revamped and now has a very pleasant interior for rooms, corridors, etc. Part of the former quaintness of the hotel is now missing but the staff remain friendly and helpful, the location excellent and accommodation comfortable. Breakfast in the large room is not ideal and perhaps this may be an area for future reviews of the hotel layout. Collapse

Debated whether to put very good but there are a few things that let it down. The reception and bar staff are absolutely amazing and very helpful except for the grumpy concierge man. Very comfortable rooms but no fridge in ours, our shower was blocked and the aircon didn't work well. The outside looks like an absolute dive but the interior is neat and tidy. We had 2 rooms and even though we booked 10 months ago ended up nowhere near each other. The bar is a really cosy place to wind down at the end of the day and the breakfast is edible with a good variation. Collapse
Im sure there are much better places to stay in Dublin

The staff at the regency hotel were very friendly and helpful at all costs There is a weird layout to the hotel that if you are on certain floors the lift does not go to you have to get off at one floor and take the stairs.... it was a nightmare. I got to my room and i asked to be switched, and the receptionist got me another room straight away. This room was not much better, there were cigarette butts on the window sill, questionable stains on the pillow and bed cover. The bath/shower was very dirty. Also the cleaners would come in even when you have a 'DO NOT DISTURB' sign on the door. The hotel has a nice pub downstairs which I have no complaints about. This hotel is a bus ride away from the center of Dublin and a 10 min drive from airport. I am certain that there are much better hotels around Dublin I wont be coming here again Nothing against the staff because they were all good, just not a fan of the hotel Collapse
