As many others have written, the Waldorf name sets a certain degree of expectation. If this was the Comfort Inn Resort, I'd be wowed. Because I was expecting Waldorfian luxury, I was a bit disappointed (albeit tempered by my research). The bell staff and reception were great, storing bags early for us and calling me when our room was ready. The corridors were exterior and motel-like on the backside of the hotel. Our room was fine - clean and had safe, fridge, and some water. The bed was firm but clean with high quality linens. One weird thing? No drawers to unpack into but sort of a big closet. Our balcony did not feel private at all - even with the dividers, I felt like we were sharing with our neighbors. The bathroom was terribly designed and had one small hook - kind of a big deal when you are a BEACH resort and dealing with wet bikinis and whatnot. You couldn't turn the shower on without soaking yourself and/or the floor. No ventilation fan in the bathroom either. I've had nicer bathrooms in many Choice chain properties. Toiletries were present and Salvatore Ferragamo according to the bottles - the quality of the product didn't seem to match. The conference rooms were nice and well stocked with snacks and beverages. Chairs were standard but a bit uncomfortable for 5 hours of meetings. The pool area was ok and had lots of loungers and two cabanas available to rent. The beach was as good as it gets for Key West - sandy and warm but crowded and small. The chair and towel guys were super friendly and happy to help, adding chairs and umbrellas to our group as needed. The chairs are old and some were janky and uncomfortable. Getting beach-side service depended on the day - one day there was only one server for the entire beach area and pool - way understaffed, he was sweating bullets, and I felt terrible for him. I had to walk up to the bar to put our order in. Food was decent (overpriced as you'd expect for hotel/beach food) and frozen drinks tasted like the island oasis mix (not made from scratch). Next day I learned my lesson and had burritos delivered and stuck to beers. I was there for a conference and paid a group rate (under $300/night including taxes and fees). If I had paid full price I'd be pissed. For the price I paid, Im satisfied. This hotel is fine as long as your expectations are adjusted to Key West levels and realize your dollar here does not go as far as many other places. Collapse
Not quite as expected but staff made it worth it

The staff working here are the only reason we would come back - they were amazing - overly helpful and what you really want when you're on vacation, especially when you're there for Easter, they have the Easter bunny come to see the kids via jet ski and also had an egg hunt. The pool and beach being so close to each other are really nice and the restaurant/bar right there is great too. The 'sunset serenade' acoustic guitar entertainment was perfect! We possibly though may not go there again would only be because of the average accommodations - the rooms are too small, the balconies need paint/maintenance, etc. The rooms were not as nice as what we expected for a Waldorf Astoria. We are from the UK and I was holidaying with my 13yr old daughter and had travelled down from Orlando having spent 8 days in Disney. Location of hotel - Wonderful location, both in terms of on the beach and its at the quieter end of nearby Duval St which is one block away, which we only fully appreciated when we had walked Duval St from end to end, its really busy at the other end. Exiting the lifts on the fifth floor - This is a little thing and It might have just been us because we were tired after travelling down but when you exit the lift, you are on the roof and we went back down to the fourth floor thinking we had got it wrong. What is actually needed is a simple directional sign, which you see as the lift doors open, directing you left across the roof to the rooms. Whilst I am at this part of the hotel and I only noticed this because we did have a significant amount of rain. To the right and in front of the lifts on the fifth floor, the roof needs some guttering to direct the rainfall away from the floor space in front of the lifts, some huge puddles which could have been avoided. These are little things and would not want them to cloud the overall review, but the little things do make the difference. Our room - we stayed in room 529, with two twin beds. The room was as I expected, though it does need more wardrobe space. My daughter used all the available space ( which was to be honest quite small) and I ended up with my clothes staying in the suitcase, so if you travel "clothes heavy" please request a larger room. The room was clean and the decor again as expected for a Waldorf hotel though panelling on the bottom of the bathroom door had begun to peel away which was not in keeping. The room and balcony over looked the inner courtyard yet still had an ocean view. The palm tree branches actually need pruning/cutting, when it was windy during the night they would brush up against the balcony railings and disturb us during the night. Its a another one of those little things like the bathroom door. Amenities - There is a reasonably well equipped gym (for a hotel), hotel shop with very helpful staff and we made use of the hotels concierge service to book a couple of restaurants for our evening meal. My daughter said the WiFi was slow I guess she was a lot more concerned about that, than I was to be honest, so in that context I cant expand on "how slow", sorry. My daughter also liked the number of hammocks on the beach, I used the beds and the beach lads looked after us throughout the week, with bed covers and towels. I have to say I found the beds a trifle uncomfortable and that was because the material had stretched due to use and time, again its one of those little things. The beach is great with a slow slope into the sea and you can go out quite far and still be touching the sandy sea bed. We did have some unsettled weather and a copious amount of sea weed was washed ashore. It took three days for the tractor to come and remove it, I felt given the hotel is a Waldorf this should have been acted on more quickly, in order that the hotel beach continued to look pristine. Service - The service we received from everyone was excellent, from the front desk to concierge, restaurant staff, beach guys to the room maids, everyone was more than helpful and I cant fault them and would like to thank you for making our stay so relaxing and welcoming. Summary - I must admit I was a little apprehensive before we arrived having read some of the comments about the hotel on this forum, but i would recommend this hotel and would stay here again. I know I have made what could be perceived as negative comments, in the overall experience they are small things that can be and should be very easily fixed but can make the difference between very good and excellent. Expect better from a hotel of this price.

The Reach is located 1.3 miles from Mallory Square, and is a sister property with Casa Marina. A nice walk down Duval Street if you don't mind it. We walked over and visited Casa Marina, and if I had to do it again, I would go to Casa Marina without hesitation. The Reach facility is tired, and not well kept for a property that costs guests $500 or more per night. See my photos. The staff were attentive and friendly without exception. They have a really nice beach. In fact, they beat Casa Marina on this point because Casa Marina has a rocky shore and you take steps from a pier down into the water. The room was very clean every day, with the exception that there seemed to be sand everywhere on the tile floors, even though we didn't wear our shoes in the room. The bed was comfortable. The climate control system appears to be something of a ruse. It never seemed to get below about 72 F, regardless of settling it to 66 and 67. Because we live in a climate where we use both heat and A/C, we know what 67 feels like when it's from A/C. They must have some kind of limiter on the system to save money. That's fine, but inform the guests. The fitness center is well supplied. The beach crew does a great job providing chairs, umbrellas and towels. The bar/restaurant service at the beach is friendly, but slow. Spencer's is the restaurant on site. The bartender Kiesa was great when we sat at the bar. We tried to eat a meal on the same patio, however, and our server couldn't get us drinks in over 20 minutes. Caution regarding "Ocean View". "Ocean Glimpse" is more like it. See our photos. They provide Nespresso machines and pods in the rooms. If you're looking for a regular coffee, the lobby has it free from about 4:30AM to about 6:50. After that, it is $5.00+ in the gift shop or Spencer's. Down the block is a small convenience store with a Cuban deli that serves fresh-made food. Their coffee is decent, and only $2.50. They had countless empty parking spots on site every day, but charge $30+ per night for parking. That doesn't seem to make sense. Bikes for rent on site; ask at Concierge. Collapse

There really is no reason to stay at this hotel if you have other less expensive choices in Key West. From the time you walk into the lobby, you realize that this Waldorf Astoria Hilton Property was a lower rated hotel that was taken over and not renovated to the standards. I could not help feeling that the only reason they charge the prices they do is because they get it from suckers ( like me) that look at the pictures of the hotel and think this is a quality Hilton Hotel property. Just a few items: The elevators are dirty and are not property cleaned. The outdoor walkways have been patched and unpainted. The pool was cloudy and did not have enough chlorine in it. The beach ..... is tiny. ( Quaint ) Valet parking, is the only option for your car. That is because they do not want you to see the garage which has old furniture in it. You see it when you go to the pool since the dirty elevator stops at the same level. The room we had overlooked the city and had a balcony. The A/C system, which is essential in Florida, is oversized for the room, so although the temperature is ok, the room is too humid and you feel it in the sheets of the bed. The bathroom is the same you would see in a 3 star hotel. I paid a lot of money for the two nights we stayed and expected a lot more. Perhaps there is no incentive for Hilton Hotels to renovate the property since they charge a lot of money, and get it. The hotel was full. So why put any money into it when you have suckers like us ?
