We arrived and due to failure of ac, hotel wide, were moved in town to the "Pier House", losing the morning and part of the afternoon of our first day. Second day we called and were told we could return. Got back and were told check in is at four, even though we were TOLD to return, and technically, had "checked in" the previous day. Told we could change in the gym and use the grounds. (Never been told what to do at a hotel, before.) Did not want to change in gym after losing the first day at our hotel, being unable to unpack, etc. (There was actually no dresser in which to unpack, so we remained packed up, throughout our stay.) Waited two more hours, upsetting the second day of our stay. When we got our key and went upstairs, there was still a housekeeper in the room. While there, the toilet broke twice, the air conditioner in our room had a coil that slipped and made a racket, until we requested a fix. The hair dryer had tons of dust in it. The shower curtain was 2/3 the size needed, causing water to get on the tiles, resulting in what looked like warping and chipping on both sides of bathroom door. Chipped marble counter in bathroom. Handicapped stall was out of order, our entire stay, in the women's room, in the lobby. Shower had dark, stained grout, no tub at all, did not drain well. Beach was lovely. Concierge, pool staff, bellhops, repair person, all very nice, or I'd have given this hotel a ONE. We spent as much time away from the room and hotel, as possible. Prepaid for this trip, compensation for inconvenience was never even mentioned...not even a free cocktail at the bar. Sad. Not a Waldorf atmosphere at all. Collapse
Still looking for the Waldorf

Hi We stayed 2 nights at the Reach and it was a bad experience. The check-in was the minimum. We had our room number and the floor. Nothing more about info. Wifi, towel policy, restaurant, ..... we had to figure out by ourself. The room was ok if you don't look in details. BUT 1 st night, there was music in the hall for ambiance?! We still try to understand the sense to put music during the night in hotel hall. We asked to stop it. Then at morning time, the housekeeping nightmare started. The ladies did scream all morning in order to communicate between room. For sake of god, these is a hotel where you are supposed to sleep. I did work in such business and these is the basics. We did have a dinner at the Spencer, hotel s restaurant: no interest . At the end, the big issue of this hotel is old rooms and a lake of training of the staff, very unprofessional. Based on the price, it is a shame. Hopefully, the beach spot is amazing. Collapse

Just recently left our great stay at the Reach. It was a very warm, but very pleasant stay. First I'll do the downsides. The way they handle the beach is very confusing. One employee yelled at us because we didn't know how they handled the beach chairs (some were out and unused). We later discovered that we think the reason he was upset was because he couldn't set up chairs for us personally, in exchange for a tip. If he would have explained how things work instead of yell, we would have been more willing to use chairs more and maybe give tips. Also when we first arrived, they loaded our luggage onto a cart (and for liability reasons/$$$ reasons), they won't let you take the carts yourself. So then we checked in, and waited, and waited, and waited, as the valets/concierges unloaded other cars. We then finally decided to grab our luggage and carry it ourselves. Maybe others are used to having their luggage delivered, but we personally like knowing where our stuff is. Also, bring your own bath towels. Their towels were so bleached that they felt like sandpaper, which is painful after the inevitable sunburn. One final complaint is the AC went out, although they did give everyone options to stay and get comped for the night, or move to a different hotel, so they definitely did a good job with that. Now on to the good things. The resort itself is very nice. The beach is great, the pool is great, and there are plenty of nice things to do. We got to lay on hammocks, sit on the pier, they even have a giant chess board. The onsite restaurant is great, and the fact most things can be charged to your room make it easier to not carry money. When on the beach, they have someone come around and bring drinks and food if you want. As well as ice cream and the free daily cocktail. We will definitely stay here again. Collapse
This place is a joke- below average

Below average all around -should NOT be called a Waldorf. It is comparable to an older MOTEL. We stayed there for the beach access- the pics are glamour shots- don't fall for it. Stay local at a B & B
