Our room was big enough for the 2 of us but the real bonus was we were on the 8th floor and had a big balcony so we had a fabulous view of Barcelona. Some evening we would sit on the balcony with a glass of wine! The staff are very good and helpful, the breakfast was good enough to give you a good start to the day. You will not be disappopinted. This hotel is in a fantastic location, just past half way down towards the beach. The small reception was busy, however the staff were very helpful and tried to accommodate all needs in a friendly manner. Breakfast was basic but had something to suit most palets, the usual hot and cold fare. (The staff within the breakfast room seemed a little unfulfilled in their jobs-not very smiley!). There is room to sit inside and out for food and drinks. The major selling point was our room... Room 911. It was a very comfortable room, spacious bathroom with full length bath. No tea coffee facilities and I like a cuppa in my pjs before venturing out so took a travel kettle. There is a fridge in the room which was a godsend. There's also a safe. Now the selling point...stepping out onto the terrace (mind the steep step out) to a breathtaking panoramic view of this beautiful city. The tree lined Ramblas below you (the trees keep the noise to a minimum). The terrace is almost the size of the room! It's covered in AstroTurf so doesn't burn bare feet in the summer. Wether sunrise or sunset it is wonderful to sit and have the hive of activity below you but only really hear the parrots in the trees or the church bells of the cathedral. Your view spans from the left monjuic round to segrada familia, the gherkin, to the far end of the beach then brings you along the beach to the port cable car. If you visit Barcelona do look out for this hotel and don't settle for any other room than 911! Collapse

We’ve recently returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and I would personally struggle to find things to complain about. It’s in a great location and is surrounded by restaurants, shops, and public transport links and is only a few mins walk away from the harbor. There is a lovely square just over the road from the hotel where you will find some really nice restaurants that are reasonable priced in comparison to those on the ramblas (avoid eating on there if possible, it’s a trap for tourists and you will end up paying 20 euros for a beer and a water) The hotel itself is definitely not modern but I wouldn’t say it’s dated. It’s old and traditional and is exactly what you’d expect to find staying so close to the gothic quarter. A really modern hotel wouldn’t fit in with the surroundings and the hotel is spotless which is more important than the décor. We checked in quite late in the evening and were met with friendly reception staff who were very welcoming and keen to help where they could. We were also provided with a room key each which is a bonus! We had a double room and it was huge. We had 2 single beds pushed together, another single bed and a sofa bed so, as you can imagine, it was very spacious! The bathroom is a generous size as well with clean towels provided daily. The rooms were cleaned daily and there was air con available although the room stayed cool without. We didn’t have a great view from our window but there are so many other sights to see in Barcelona so it didn’t bother us. I read lots of reviews about the noise before travelling so packed some ear plugs for our stay but they weren’t necessary. There was a bit of background noise on the first night but it wasn’t too disruptive. Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was mostly quiet during the evenings, however, I can imagine it to be noisy until the early hours if you have a room overlooking the ramblas. Personally the noise didn’t affect us so I wouldn’t let that put anyone off staying here. Breakfast was standard hot and cold food with pastries, fruit and the usual tea, coffee and juice available. We didn’t eat in the restaurant whilst we were there but it looked busy every night. The staff are a real credit to the hotel. We met several different people on reception and they were all more than happy to direct you somewhere or recommend you somewhere to eat or drink. They were extremely pleasant and contributed towards a great stay. Excellent, friendly service – what more can you want! Overall we had a faultless and pleasant stay at this hotel with 0 complaints and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Don’t let the negative reviews put you off! Collapse

Lovely hotel close to Main Street, markets and shop, even the harbour, amazing bakery a couple doors down. Very clean staff helpful. You could get breakfast but we just went off on our own. Hop on hop off bus best way to get around.
