Yet another fantastic meal from the chefs well thought out menu. Everyone made to feel welcome in the restaurant regardless of whether they are a business travelller or family group. Perfect end to a hard days work - after a quick dip in the pool !

Telford is not that exciting but this is not too far from Ironbridge world heritage site. We found this a good hotel. Staff are really friendly helpful and competent. The place is clean and well cared for, in landscaped grounds. It was quiet since the sound from the nearby main road did not reach it. We really liked it with 2 teenagers, we had interconnecting rooms, one was much bigger than the other though. The price was good for what we got. It has a very nice warm pool which overlooks the garden and also has a sauna. If you want to go shopping the main Telford shopping mall is nearby. The kids were very happy here and the beds were comfortable too. Good breakfast though perhaps price was a bit high at £10 each. Collapse
Nice but we didn't get the long lie in we'd hoped for.

Stayed here for one night (Sat) and we had had a busy week so had hoped for a long lie in on the Sunday morning. We were allocated room 302 which it transpires is right above the gym and also adjacent to a water pump of some description for the swimming pool which is two floors down. So at 6:30am on a Sunday morning when some keep fit types decide to go for a run on the treadmill all we can hear is the banging of the person running directly below us reverberating through the wall, that added to the water pump kicking in meant that that was the end of our sleep. When we mentioned it to the receptionist upon checking out we were greeted with - ah yes; that ones adjacent to the gym. So much for our long lie. Breakfast was a buffet type affair with plenty of choice and quickly served. Access to the pool/gym isn't direct - you have to go to reception, sign in and then get a different keycard than the one of your room. You also need to bring your own towels to the pool although reception can provide them. Still can't believe that hotels are charging for Internet access and at such a premium. Collapse

HOTEL The Ramada hotel is located slap bang in the middle of Telford centre near to the retail parks, restaurants and supermarkets. The hotel offers a large gated car park for guests and despite being in the town centre is very quiet and tranquil. FOOD The hotel is modern, clean and welcoming. All the staff greeted us nicely and were all very helpful. We booked our room with full breakfast included which was lovely. The usual hotel breakfast is to be expected here: fruit juices, hot English breakfast foods, some European cheeses, fruit and yoghurt, cereals and breads. We tended to eat between 8:00 and 8:30 and some foods had gone by then but there were signs to say to ask for anything that wasn't there. The staff were very welcoming but needed to be more proactive in clearing tables and replenishing food. The hotel also offers a restaurant with a menu of "posh food" and a bar area which serves more familiar pub grub. One evening we decided to eat in the bar area for convenience. We did have to wait 50 minutes for our food to be brought due to a "printer problem" however we were compensated with free garlic bread. When the food did arrive, I have to say it was delicious and very good value for money. ROOM We stayed in room 230, a normal double room which was quite a walk from the reception area but we didn't mind this. The room was to be expected with modern furnishings: bed, dresser, wardrobe, chair and en-suite. Both the room and ensuite were clean and modern. My only complaint was that the room got quite warm and the single window didn't open very far without having to use the latch on the side. The room also had a small TV in the corner with Freeview on it which was nice to put on in the morning when getting ready or in the evening before bed. EXTRAS The hotel also had a small gym and good-sized pool which we used two days in a row and really made use of this facility. There was no extra charge to use these facilities, we just had to sign in and out at reception to be given the access key. The gym always seemed to be empty - there were treadmills, bikes and rowing machine and downstairs, there was also a sauna in the changing room. The changing room itself needed a bit of an overhaul, there was a single shower in there and not many places to sit and change. There were a few lockers to store your clothes though which was good. It would have been nice for the hotel to offer additional towels for use here as we had to use our towels from the room. TRAVEL IDEAS - 15 minute drive from most of the Ironbridge Gorge museums - huge Telford shopping centre 5 minutes walk away (we had a shopping day and also used the Asda for a few essentials) - a second retail park with further shops and restaurants 5 minutes drive (we went to the Pizza Hut, McDonalds and Sainsburys here) Collapse

Cheap hotel breaks can be a lucky dip as to the quality you end up with, but we were delighted with what we received. We booked via Hotels.com during a 'sale' and considered ourselves very fortunate. The room, though small, was very clean and well decorated. It came equipped with 2 towels, kettle and mugs (with tea & coffee sachets), and an iron. There was also a safe available, but this was extra which appeared to be paid for by a debit/credit card. The double bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, which was a welcome surprise at this price point. We had breakfast included in our deal, and it was fantastic. The usual components of an English breakfast were all present and correct (sausage, eggs, beans etc) and there was a selection of 6 breakfast cereals as well. There was also a small selection of cakes including mini Danish pastries and mini muffins. The leisure facilities were very good. Ok, the gym was tiny and included about 5 or 6 machines, but the pool was a welcome addition at no extra cost, and we spent over an hr there most days. My only criticism would be the changing rooms need a little more cleaning, but it was still acceptable. The hotel itself is located opposite the Park Inn, and a few metres from the large indoor shopping centre (which is also the town's centre). There are places nearby for food including Pizza Hut and McDonalds. The hotel also has Wi-Fi which was free when we stayed, and a necessity when we realised our smart phones had no signal. Neither EE or Three have usable 3G/4G signal there, so using Wi-Fi to use WhatsApp was a godsend. The staff appeared polite and friendly, and were generally efficient. The only time they let themselves down was when we had gone to the bar to have dinner, but didn't get it until 45 mins later. The kitchen had failed to spot their order printer had run out of paper, and they didn't see our order until 30 mins after we placed it. An attempt to remedy our frustration was appreciated, but I couldn't eat the complimentary starter. In conclusion, Ramada Telford was a great place to stay. Its friendly staff, leisure facilities and quality of food, ensured we felt looked after and valued. Some may criticise the size of the leisure facilities, but I don't think a hotel should be judged too critically based on this. If the gym is what you need, I'm sure there are local gyms with days passes. Collapse
