It was wonderful returning to the Ramada Plaza again! My family and I stopped off at the Ramada Plaza on our way back to Australia. I've been going there for years and it's like staying with family. Their staff is wonderful, from the front desk, restaurant to house keeping! In my opinion, happy caring staff make the difference and over the years they all are still there. As I'm a frequent guest I was given an incredible, unexpected upgrade and the views from the top floor suite were amazing! I'll be there in 2017 and look forward to their TLC, relaxation and lots of fun! Collapse

We were for 3 days, in 3 people (me, my husband and a baby of 1 and half y), and for 3 days I had to ask a third towels, because we find ever two. Good breakfast, and very good, kind and professional it was service reception. Large room and beautiful view! Collapse

My boyfriend was making a return visit after living in Dubai for four years (eight years ago). This was my first visit. The hotel is a little out of the way if you plan on visiting the Souks. But it is a stones throw away from Jumeirah Beach and the palm, and has lovely views of the marina. If you want to visit the Souks, Deira bur Dubai, downtown Dubai or the top end of the Sheik Zayed Road can be up to an hour on the metro - similar in a taxi, traffic depending. The hotel rooms are a good size with a large, comfy bed. The bathroom is possibly a tad small but fully equipped. As others have mentioned, the lifts can be a wait, but didn't hinder our stay. The walk is close by, as people have mentioned in other reviews, but bear in mind this is a Muslim country, which means bars are restricted to hotels, so no alcohol is available on the walk. This is not a beach hotel, but is a great place to stay for a few days away. Collapse

We are four friends who booked a 2 bedroom suite at Ramada Plaza in November. We stayed for 6 nights and did enjoy most of our stay, In the interests of balance here are the pros and cons. Pros -Excellent location, 5 minutes walk to the beach and 3 mins to the Walk, where there are many different international chain restaurants. -Good service - the front desk staff were all very polite professional and friendly. We asked for more towels once and there was always plenty of towels everyday during our stay. We were given fresh supplies of tea and bottled water everyday -Space - so much space. We were upgraded for free to a 3 bedroom suit and it was massive. There were 3 double bed rooms, a huge kitchen and separate dining/living room. I genuinely have never stayed in a hotel that is so generous with its suites. I imagine the 2 bedroom suites would also have been extremely spacious -Kitchen equipment - there is a large family sized fridge, microwave, oven, pots, pans, cutlery and plates. Everything you need to self cater. There is also a washing machine for laundry. -The view - we were on the 30th floor and had a good view of the beach and the Walk below. However as the Ramada Plaza is in the middle of a forest of other tall buildings you do not get an uninterrupted view of the sea. -Parking - free valet parking for all guests. We simply left the car at the front entrance every time and the valets provided exceptional service. -Wifi - high speed wifi throughout the whole building. Cons -The furniture was very dated. From the pictures the sofas and chairs looked amazing, but actually they were all stained and old. We had difficulty reconciling this with a 4 star establishment. -Cleanliness was definitely not their forte. There was mould in the grouting in the bathrooms. The cushions on the bed were stained and it was clear that the covers had not been changed for a long time. Our sheets were not changed everyday. -Noise even on the 30th floor we could hear lots of construction noise and partying all the way down on the ground. I assume that people on lower floors would have an even bigger issue with noise, but it is in the middle of the most popular district in Dubai -Pool - the swimming pool is a joke. It is a very small, rectangular unimaginative pool with a few deck chairs around it. It is always crowded and noisy. By mid day the pool is completely in the shade of the surrounding buildings. -Location - even though this is plus for some, being located in the middle of the tourist district means that everything around the hotel is extremely expensive. We ended up paying 120 aed (about 25 pounds) for 4 ice creams on the beach. Breakfast everyday was 100 aed at the hotel per person, or if you wanted to eat out we usually ended up spending between 300-400 aed between the four of us. -Communal space and hotel layout - the hotel lobby is ludicrously small for such a large hotel (it has over 45 floors). There is hardly anywhere to sit and relax. The main entrance of the hotel is actually in an underground car park and that is the only way you can get to it. Its a really unpleasant experience to have to walk through the hot car park multiple times a day. -Lifts - this hotel is not for the impatient. There are only four main lifts serving 35 floors and another 2 sets of service lifts serving all 45 floors. This means you can be waiting routinely for 10 minutes for a lift to arrive and it can take 10 minutes to get to the ground floor. Top tips -If you want to explore Dubai properly rent a car. The public transport is not bad but a car gives you so much more freedom. Parking is reasonably cheap compared to the UK. There is free valet parking at this hotel. -Get a room on a high floor i.e 20 or above. This way you can get a great view of either the Marina or the sea. -Make sure that you tell the hotel staff what you want very clearly on the first day. They are very good but sometimes can forget things that are important like giving you fresh towels. I would say this hotel is best for large families or groups of travellers who want to self cater, as it makes it very economical to rent a suite. If you are looking for a luxury experience with spa and great pool you should spend a bit more and get a proper 5* hotel instead. Collapse
