We booked the Ramada for a weekend in March as we were in the area for a concert. The hotel seemed to primarily be booked with stag and hen parties which didn't worry me too much as i'd had the foresight to bring noise cancelling ear plugs with me- this is definately a must if you are planning on staying here during the weekend. The hotel is close to the gateshead millennium bridge and has a car park attached at a cost of £5 per day and it's a bit of a walk into the centre of newcastle. We stayed in Room 505 and while the room was clean there were some issues- one of the bedside lights was broken and when i sat down on the sofa/sofa bed the cushions collapsed. Upon further inspection it appeared that it was completely broken and unsuitable for sleeping or even sitting on. We arrived quite late at night and i just wanted to sleep - otherwise i would have complained. The actual bed was horrible- it was uncomfortable and felt like it was sliding away from the wall every time i moved. The mattress felt lopsided and was quite honestly the worst nights sleep i've ever had in a hotel. We had a king size room but definately not a king size bed- it was incredibly small for 2 people. The bathroom was well lit and had a large walk in shower, but the actual shower pressure was rubbish and there was no shelf or ledge to put any toiletries on however, it was lovely and hot. I didn't have any meals or breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on the food but every staff member was very nice and friendly. The bar area has cocktail pitchers and shot menus which would be great if you are looking for that sort of thing. Collapse

After reading a lot of the reviews I expected to be freezing cold and itchy and in a hostel .. thankfully all the very negative reviews were a bit wrong .. well we found them the opposite .we were on floor five and found the room was more than ample and very large with coffee and tea making facilities .. the bed was soft but I prefer a soft mattress to a rock hard one. The room was lovely and warm unlike the reviews I've read ? In fact we had to turn the heating off at one point . The staff were 101% very friendly and helpful . The only negative was the lifts were full of litter and rubbish and takeaway cartons from the previous night other than that it was a very nice hotel Collapse

The basis of my review is what we as a couple experienced during a one night stay. Staff came across friendly and responded well to our requests very quickly and in a polite manner. The room was of an adequate size and the facilities met our needs. Some minor issues were only one set of towels and the tea and coffee making kit was missing milk and sweeteners minor but basic. The rooms have laminate floors which we felt contributed to the noise from other rooms and at times we could hear noisy guests in the corridor. Overall not bad for the price we paid, I cannot understand how modern hotels still don't seem to be designed to keep noise down not all guests are considerate enough during the night room doors should been made to reduce noise and the laminate floors in the rooms meant you could hear other guests in their rooms. The location wasn't too bad with regards to getting across the nearby Tyne to other pubs and restraunts just a few minutes walk away, not sure how much or how long a taxi ride would be. The car park was reasonably secure, you need a code to get out. We didn't eat in the hotel and the only comment I can make is at around £10 each breakfast was far to expensive. I would stay again but only at the offer price I paid. Collapse

I stayed at the Ramada at the end of January this year. The hotel was clean (there were signs of wear and tear throughout the building) and the the room that i had was quite big and the bed itself was very comfortable. the staff that I met throughout the hotel were all very pleasant and friendly. the only downside for me was that my room was "freezing cold". I spoke to reception and they said that there had been a open window on my floor but they would close this. I had a look around for the open window myself and couldn't see it. Things didn't improve throughout the night and needless to say i slept with my woolly hat on as it was so bad. If the hotel had been warmer I would definitely rated the hotel higher. Collapse
