My boyfriend booked this hotel for my Christmas present and it was absolutely perfect. Our room was on the 15th floor and had excellent views. Also, the bed was super comfortable! I normally struggle with the pillows in Europe but I slept so well here! The staff are extremely friendly and I think we got a sneaky room upgrade when we checked in ;-) thank you! We went to the bar on the 17th floor and managed to get a table next to the window to enjoy our free drink (nice touch!) and then stayed for a couple of hours longer enjoying the views. A glass of wine is around 6-7Euro and it was a great atmosphere. Breakfast is served on the 17th floor and it has everything you could possible want! Make your own waffles, toasty maker, pastries, fruit, cooked meats... it's all there! The hotel is out of the centre of Amsterdam but we walked there in around 30 minutes. The tram on the way back took around 15 minutes and stops a 2 minute walk away. I really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again should we return to Amsterdam! Collapse

Following a Hk WingOn tour to Brussels n stop in this hotel for a night, booked for 3 beds n paid full price, however, when we arrive, only 2 beds in our room, had to switch for a smaller room n 3 of us squeeze together in a tiny box room. Terrible. Then the next morning, we suppose to hv buffet breakfast, with no directions from the staffs, we get in n start taking our food from a buffet counter, after we begin to sit down, the manager of the brevage snap our food n took it away....then angrily tells us that the food belongs to VIPs, we should take our food from the next counter, then he put it back to the containers where we got the food from the 'VIPs'..., we felt it's so dirty as we already took the food, as well we r paying customers as well, don't need to be so rude, I wonder they had any training??......horrible hotel n terrible rude services..... to compare with Australia's motel, this is only 2 stars I can mostly agree. This is a brilliant hotel, clean and friendly. Staff were very helpful and welcoming, they were able to advise us on how to get around the city and the best tourist attractions to visit. The room was of a high standard very comfortable, clean and great views of the city. There are great transport links into the city centre. The tram runs every 8 minutes from the back of the hotel, just a few stops and you're in the city and tickets are reasonable. Amsterdam is a great city to visit and this is definitely a brilliant base to get your head down. Collapse

The room was superb and the hotel was clean and the staff friendly. However thats where it ended. The bar on level 17 was always understaffed with most of them running around like headless chickens. There seemed to be only one person dedicated to the bar while the others worried about the restaurant. I must say the barman who worked tirelessly all night on cocktails etc was superb and deserves more pay than he's probably getting. All in all the restaurant was overpriced and under staffed. We were staying on a bed and breakfast booking and the breakfast on the first morning was very good with a wide range of options. Unfortunately we had a very early flight back on the following day and was being picked up from the hotel at 6.20am. Unfortunately the restaurant doesn't open till 6.30am. On the previous day I enquired about this and the restaurant manager said that if I made arrangements with reception they would make up a breakfast box for both of us. I went to reception and ordered this and the reception said they would email the restaurant. We arrived at reception the following morning at about 6.00am. I enquired as to our breakfast box but nobody knew anything about it. The receptionist checked and said we were staying on a room only basis. I did comment that it was strange that whilst having breakfast the day before I managed to arrange a non-existent breakfast box with the restaurant manager. I then had to go through my case to show the receptionist my accommodation voucher (which I luckily still had)stating that we were on a bed and BREAKFAST booking. By this time our chauffeur had arrived for the airport so the receptionist quickly put some bits and pieces together in a couple of small carrier bags mainly consisting of biscuits, cake and other rubbish. Needless to say this went into the first rubbish bin at the airport. All in all, what could have been a delightful short break in Amsterdam ended up extremely disappointing at the end. Would I stay there again. Probably not. It's quite a way out from the town centre although the tram service is excellent with a stop a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Collapse
