Absolutely disgusted with my stay here and will be taking it further! Waiting at stansted airport thinking the deposit was paid for the hotel, only to find out it was very sneakily worded so that it wasn't a deposit towards to room, it was an additional cost!! After this that too was cancelled and we booked a standard queen room. Arrived at the airport a couple hours before check in for the hotel so we phoned to see if we were able to check in earlier and was met with a very sarcastic rude girl saying ha no chance. Arrived at the hotel to which we were told oh we might be able to check you in, to then be told no again. Only good point at this stage was the safe luggage storage room so we could go and explore Amsterdam. Arrived back at the hotel to find we couldn't check in still because the room wasn't ready (this was 15 minutes before the final check in time!!) how on earth a room wasn't ready then I do not know! Finally went to our room in which the girl at the reception desk tried to argue that we hadn't paid despite me showing her a receipt from earlier that morning (prior to this another girl at the desk was extremely rude to another customer who had already paid and she was trying to charge him again, when he brought this up with her she raised her shoulders and walked off!!). Eventually we got to our room to find out it wasn't even our room and the girl behind the desk had checked us into the wrong room! My partner went downstairs to query this and to make sure we wouldn't be charged if whoever was in our actual room started ordering room service. He was told we would be getting an upgrade however it would be two twin beds. My partner stated this wasn't ideal as we were a couple to which a very sarcastic response of 'well push the beds together, it's an upgraded room' was given! We went to the 'upgraded' room to find it was no different at all bar 2 inches more room! I went downstairs again to query this and she tried to blame my partner saying he agrees the beds were fine. We responded by saying they wouldn't have been a huge issue if we actually in an upgraded room as promised which we clearly weren't. The 'compromise' was back to another standard room with a double bed. By this time after travelling I was too tired to waste my time with the staff anymore. To make up for this we were told we could get the shuttle back to the hotel for free (this was surprising as no where does it state it is supposed to cost 7 euros per person!!!) Got to the room and was disgusted! One of the towels had blood on (see picture below), the bed layout made it impossible to sit up in bed and the final straw was the exposed wires which gave me an electrical shock and burn (see picture). We wanted a drink one night to find out just to bring food and drinks to the room it was an additional 10 euros service charge! And not the mention a can of Pepsi and apple juice cost 7 euros!! I will be writing to the owner of this company and I would advise every single person to avoid this hotel at all costs!!!! Collapse
Nice hotel...but a few issues.

I’ll start with the positives. Good Location – the hotel is about 20 mins on tram 13 from Central station. The tram stop is 2 mins walk away. Very quiet setting. Rooms – Good size rooms and spotless. Shower in the bathroom was amazing! We were on floor 15 and never heard any noise from adjoining rooms. Floor 17 – The bar / restaurant is great. Good atmosphere, we ate lunch here and whilst a little on the pricey side (but you expect that in a hotel) the food was tasty. Stunning views over Amsterdam. Unfortunately both nights we stayed the roof top area was open but no bar / music etc. Tip – For a fantastic breakfast walk through the park to Café Zurich. Great food and drink only 5 mins walk away. Now for the not so good…… Shuttle bus – Be aware this is only an 8 seater mini bus. On arrival at Schiphol we waited for 30 mins at the bus stop, only for a mini riot to break out when the Ramada bus arrived. At least 20 people attempted to board the bus, people even sat on the floor! The driver just shrugged his shoulders, told us no additional bus would be sent and drove off. We ended up getting the train and tram to the hotel. We did mention this during the disastrous check-in process and ended up with a complimentary return journey (usually 7.50 euro each). So worth trying if you’re unlucky enough to not get on board. Check-in / Out – Having booked and paid upfront through Ramada’s own website we were not expecting any issues…how wrong we were. On check-in we were told we hadn’t paid and owed 238 euro. The lady behind the desk was very rude and condescending telling me they hadn’t debited the money, just placed a hold on it. This resulted in the accounts dept. being called out to the desk, and me having to log on to my online banking to prove they had taken the full amount (we booked a Hot deal and the terms of the deal was upfront payment!). After a 15 min wait, they admitted they had found the transaction, we had paid in full it just hadn’t been allocated to our booking!! Shockingly, the same situation occurred on checkout, expecting to pay only the 5% city tax, we were told we had underpaid at check-in by 77 euro! Again we had to go through the same process of showing them emails and my bank statement before we were allowed to leave the hotel. The whole situation was handled poorly by the staff, and the 2 free drinks tokens did little to make up for the embarrassment and inconvenience. On another note, during our stay when walking to / from the tram station in the evenings there were a couple of very unsavoury characters lurking around the side of the hotel you had to walk past. Made you feel very uncomfortable as they made degrading comments about the passing guests. Collapse

After several flight delays, I arrived at the hotel after the kitchen has closed, however was told that room service was still available until 23:00. So, first think I've done after entering the room, was ordering some food from room service. That was 22:20. At 23:00, and as the room service was closing, I called the reception and was told that the food was on its way. In fact nothing came, and at 23:20 called the reception again, and the shift had changed, and the just arrived receptionist did not know anything about the situation, and could not do anything as both kitchen and room serviced were closed. The receptionist melted in appologises and managed to arrange me one sandwich and some crisps with a couple of drinks, what would help, somehow, the starvation of an attribulated afternoon messed flights. Apart of that, nice hotel. Collapse

Stayed here 16-18th march, we were really lucky with the weather it was glorious sunshine when we arrived on Wednesday which was lovely! We waited about 20 minutes for the free shuttle to the hotel, there was a lot of people waiting and people who had got there after us got on the mini bus first and it was too full for us to get on which was very annoying but no fault of the hotel, just some people don't have manners, so we just got a taxi which took 10 minutes and was €40, taxi driver was really friendly and told us about the tram. We were able to check in early, it was about 11am I think when we checked in, we dumped our stuff and got straight on tram which is right outside hotel, and number 13 takes about 15 minutes to get you to central station, we did walk back to the hotel on the 2nd day which didn't take us very long either. We got the 48 hour tram pass from the hotel shop, it was €12.50; well worth it. We had the hotel buffet breakfast both mornings, which is €18 but is well worth the money it was really nice, with the lovely views looking out as as well! As I said we were lucky with the weather so went up to the hotel rooftop terrace to enjoy the view both mornings and evenings we were there, it really is breathtaking! Food & shops in Amsterdam are generally quite expensive we spent a lot of money but Amsterdam is beautiful and such a chilled out friendly place and we will definitely go back, and would definitely stay at the Ramada again!
