Stayed for a weekend in this hotel. The area is ok. A short walk to the main area. Hotel decor is a little bit tired in hallways and rooms. The staff were lovely and helpful. Hotel was noisy in March due to building work to terrace, when we complained we were told no noise on Sunday!! Also after a lovely day in Nice came back to room being left open by the cleaners......luckily nothing was missing. No apology from management. City view rooms are terrible views. Our room at night had its own prostitute outside the window every night! Sea view rooms alot more expensive to upgrade too and these must be noisy and the main road is very noisy/busy. Collapse
Shame about the arrogant staff, quelle surprise

At the outset, let me say that a large part of our decision to visit Nice, was in support and solidarity of the local people after last year’s atrocities. I booked 2 rooms via Secret Escapes. The price was attractive, although we were not advised that the rooftop pool area was closed for refurbishment. Part of the deal, was a bottle of wine in each room and 10% discount off the restaurant. Not bad at all. Check in. We were early and had to go walk about, not a problem. Later, 1 room was ready. The 2nd one was ready after 4pm (supposed to be 3pm). Again, no great hassle. The hassle. Apparently in “winter” the a/c is only set to heat the room, not cool it. The outside temperature was 21 degrees, like the height of summer for an Englishman. The first night of 3, was terrible, too hot, no a/c, so not much sleep. The room was boiling hot. The bed was actually comfortable, but not in such heat. Next day, I asked at reception if I could borrow an electric fan. “Non”, we don’t have these. No concern from the staff whatsoever. The rooms. Fairly clean, decent bathroom and stunning sea view. Balcony overlooks the Promenade des Anglais, and the road noise is amazing. 3 lanes in both directions of endless traffic. It took 2 nights to get used to it. Breakfast. Good machine coffee and nice buffet choice. Fresh salmon was particularly nice. The breakfast staff were polite and smiling (unlike the rest of their colleagues). Hotel location. I assumed, wrongly, that being on the sea front, this hotel would be near “stuff”. No it’s not. A 20min walk will get you further east, where the restaurants and bars are to be found. I became a bus user to get over this. Restaurant. A very nice meal, not over expensive and a decent wine list. Polite serving staff. Here was the problem… I quietly sought out the maitre di to confirm with him that he knew that our booking was with the 10% discount (Secret Escapes). No he didn’t and cared even less. I asked him to check and bring the bill. 20 mins later, he approached the table and to my horror...”HEY, MISTER, what discount do you want?! 10%, 25% 50%, what!?” very loud and deliberate, which attracted the attention of several nearby diners. This was a calculated attack on us, designed and succeeding in causing us great embarrassment. His name was Fabrice, and I hope he is ashamed of himself. I vowed not to patronise the restaurant for the remainder of our stay. Checkout. Mini bar items were added, despite the fact we had not used it. They amended the bill. So be careful, check your bill. No apology for this of course. Overall, our stay was made uncomfortable and unpleasant, ruined by the attitude of the majority of the staff. Aside from the despicable Fabrice, the others seem to have an air of indifference and that they are doing you a favour by even talking to you and enjoying making you wait too. There was one nice young man at reception, who WAS polite, Xavier, well done to him. I will return to Nice, only for the airport, to visit other destinations, but as far as Nice goes, they can keep it. Collapse

So conflicted about this place. Yes its in the worst position on the front than any of the other major hotels, and its surrounded by roadworks and clearly building work going on in the hotel. I was on the second floor - facing the street and the sound was terrible from the street. The rooms are very basic - Premier Inn circa 1995. On arriving on my motorbike - one doorman was very friendly and helped direct me to the car park - the other was very grumpy and told me - don't park in a car space! And this really sums the place up - its confused. The service either indifferent or excellent. Another example - I was given a twin room and wanted a double - so I call the front desk and this takes ages - and eventually - rather than move me they send housekeeping to make my twin a double. Isn't this more work than just change my room? (the hotel wasn't full). But the housekeeping staff that turned up - were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The wifi though had no good side - it was awful - so slow, impossible to connect and when I was there, the 4G signal on my devices kept on dropping too. But the saving grace here was the concierge when I was checking out. I had lost my passport the night before at a football game in Monaco and he was amazingly helpful - calling the stadium and suggesting that I head there before a long unplanned trip to Marseille to the British Consulate. Thanks to his help we recovered the passport and I was able to head home. He also called me to check on progress - classy. Collapse

Stayed here for the weekend and took the upgrade for a sea view, which was amazing, but the room was substandard, air conditioner was not working, and was sold as a/c room. When we asked to have it looked at, we was told they don't work this time of year. The bathroom floor was disgraceful!!! The grout was completely falling out and all tiles where lose. When we asked for another room, we was offered a room on the side of the building with no view. Work was going on the 5th/6th floor and meant the rooftop terrace was not in use. We was not told this prior to booking . If we was, we could have chosen another hotel. Please check your bill before you leave as we was over charged 180 euro for the so called upgrade. Which I was lucky enough to spot and get rectified. Collapse

I don't do reviews. Not really my thing. However, I feel compelled to warn other travellers in this instance. There is building work going on between floors 6 and 7 of this hotel. This means the much vaunted swimming pool/bar/fitness centre is out of action. It also means if like us you are on floor 4 you will be woken to the sound of drilling/banging/scraping or any other noise builders have no choice to make on a building site. None of the above would bother me in the slightest normally, were I pre warned about it. I just would have booked a different hotel from a different chain. To choose not to inform us and still charge the full price is frankly disgraceful. Radisson, shame on you. It's not high season, just close the hotel, get the work done. Reopen. Collapse
