The hotel is situated on the edge of the city centre about 5 minutes from New street station, In my opinion it is probably a hotel aimed at business men/women, but it was perfect for Me and the Wife for a quick break. The room we had was newly refurbished with air conditioning and all the amenities you need, including an iron/ironing board, hairdryer, and trouser press there is also free wi-fi. My wife loved the heated floor in the bathroom, and I thought the massive bed was the comfiest I had slept on in a long time, it was also very quiet (no noise from the other rooms). All in all a great room in a modern hotel and although it is undergoing modernisation at the moment, apart from the scaffolding at the front of the hotel You would not be aware of it. Collapse

Stayed a week on business. Arrived late Sunday (9pm) to find no restaurant and a limited room service menu, (although saying that the salmon salad was great. On check in told I was booked on bed and breakfast, (surprised as thought was half board) and could register my credit card (up to £50 or £100) then top up if needed. Good proximity to station and central shopping area and easy to find. However then the inconsistencies started to raise their head! I had to re tighten the plug on kettle (as loose/apart) to make it work. No extractor in bathroom means it gets pretty steamy in there and air con cant go below 19 (stayed during the week heatwave week) so occasionally being able to put it lower would have been good! I went to add some £ so could get drink or room service again if blenders to now be told I didn't need to as it rolled on £50 each day! So completely different to what I was told on check in. I actually ate out nearly every night due to prices (£6.25 for a Guinness - seriously?!) and on my second to last night I went to ask for a fully itemised bill on check out (to claim room service back) to be told I was on half board!!! Wtf? Some serious consistency is needed of information given to guests, so assume this is a training issue that can be rectified. I'd give another star if so. Never 5/5 due to crazy drinks prices (and not comparable to places locally). Collapse

When we arrived there was a long que to check in (4 bookings in front of us) with only 2 people serving. Then 2 separate people jumped the que and the staff just served them ahead of us. It took us over 20 minutes to check in! However there was a plate with Happy Birthday and a miniature macaroon and a miniature eclair with half a strawberry on which was a nice touch. Business Class room - a pretty standard room not sure if it was worth paying extra for. It was clean and very comfortable. Bed was very soft and bouncy (more bouncy than our garden trampoline). The shower was over the bath which I wouldn't use as it would of been too hard to use with my balance, the bathroom was very small, it had amenities such as shampoo, shoe polisher, body wash etc. Hair dryer and iron were both excellent. There are plugs in front of the mirror which is ideal if you use hair appliances. There is a USB port next to the bed which is brilliant to plug your iPhone cable in to. Bathrobes are incredibly small. Horrible view of the road below and scaffolding as we were on the 8th floor. I would of thought that they would of been higher up to give customers who have paid more a better view. Coffee machine was visibly broken so wasn't used. There was an electronic minibar system on top of a shelf however there wasn't any drinks on it. Breakfast - lack of choice of breakfast juice as only orange juice available, would of been nice to have apple or tropical perhaps. Croissants were flat but did taste lovely. Breakfast was of a good quality and worth paying for. I would of preferred to have had room service however this was not available. Also there were no Danish pastries which was a shame. Lobby - free flavoured water which had thyme in it so it was very weird! Perhaps just plain or lemon water would be preferable. There was a poster on the wall which was falling off. Could do with a concierge as a lack of this was very disappointing! Fitness suite was out of use which was a shame. Location - good location close to the bull ring and new street station. Car parking - NCP behind the hotel, is bit of a walk back around but was manageable even with mobility problems. We paid at the hotel and was issued with a £15 ticket for over night parking. Collapse

The hotel is in a fantastic location near New Street station and the Bullring. We stayed in a 1 bed suite for 1 night, the suite looked as though it had been refurbished and was clean and modern and spacious. My daughter had the sofa bed in the lounge area, which was why we had a suite, however if you had the suite so you could have a separate living area you would be bitterly disappointed. There was a 2 seat sofa small table and chair and a TV - the suite contained no soft furnishings at all no pictures and was bland and soulless - as was the bedroom. These rooms need some TLC to elevate them to suite status. Collapse

Perhaps not in the best area of Birmingham and and initial impressions are not great (due to the surrounding area). Any initial negative impressions quickly disappear once you get into the hotel. Staff are very friendly, rooms are pleasant and spacious and food was excellent. Factor in that it's very central (less than 10 minutes walk from both Birmingham New Street Station and the Bull Ring) and you're onto a winner. There's currently some major renovation work going on, but beyond some hoardings around the outside of the building, this didn't affect my stay at all. Collapse
