The hotel was wonderful, we where made so welcome, the hotel staff where amazing and always happy to go that extra mile. The breakfast was super, beautifully cooked and so well presented with abundance of choice. We had 2 evening meals in the hotel and they where truly spectacular, the chef a lady when we dined you really do not want to miss her gift and in our view far outlays many of the resturants in the city. Would go again to this hotel in a flash! On my partners birthday they made hime feel so special........thank you. Collapse

We stayed here over New Years. The room was great. The staff was great. Breakfast in the morning was great. The locating is central and within walking distance of most of the things you'd want to walk to. I'd highly recommend staying here.

We arrived as a party of six adults staying for five nights in rooms 221, 219 and 407. Check in was smooth and welcoming and the rooms were of a reasonable standard although rather small, but please remember you are staying in a city so space is at a premium. The shower was absolutely amazing - hot and really powerful with a super boost power button if you wanted it even more powerful. There are basic toiletries provided and we found the bath towels very small and I think this is something the hotel definitely need to review. The bed and pillows were divine and particularly welcoming after a long day ! We had B&B which was plentiful with very attentive and polite staff particularly Izla who went above and beyond her duties every day she was wonderful. There are cold and hot buffet options - please be aware cold buffet options are in a different room and the only criticism I would make is that sometimes the hot buffet was lukewarm but if you dig underneath to the bottom it is hotter. The freshly made bread is gorgeous. The bar staff were excellent with a wonderful mixture of drinks available including lovely cocktails - do give the Blue Lagoon a try it was delicious. There is happy hour every day which includes beers, wines and cocktail of the day. I do feel that the hotel needs a concierge desk to help with local queries. The reception staff are very helpful but it did feel sometimes that it was a bit of a 'faff' to keep asking them questions etc. There are lots of guests so I think this would be a useful addition. What is absolutely fantastic about this hotel is the location it is so central for absolutely everything in Reykjavik - taxis are extremely expensive - so do take this into account when looking to book a hotel. We were close to the Grayline office where you can book all trips, tours and pickups as well as supermarkets, shops, Harpa building and many bars and restaurants and it was easy to walk absolutely anywhere. Reykjavik is expensive there is no getting away from it but it is so worth the experience. Most of the restaurants and bars have a daily happy hour which helps keep the costs down !! Please take into account that it is cold, especially at night and make sure that you take lots of layers and the appropriate waterproof clothing and footwear it really does make a difference to how you are feeling in the cold weather. We used Grayline for all our tours and if you love Game of Thrones then this tour is a fantastic tour of the set, we also did the Golden Circle which is simply stunning, the Blue Lagoon which is an experience I will never forget - try to get an entry around 2.00-3.00 in the afternoon as you will not want to get out and you get to see the location in daylight and nightlight. Towels are hired at IK7 per towel so if you want to take your own feel free. You are given a wristband which you can charge drinks to but are only allowed three drinks per wristband. If you are planning a trip to see the Northern Lights book it on your first night in case you are unfortunate not to see them - this is a long night and extremely cold so go prepared but worth it if you are lucky enough to see them. The hotel is around 45 minutes from the airport. My one piece of feedback for the hotel is to invest in some hooks in the room - this may seem quite a trivial request but when you are travelling with coats, hats, cardigans and several layers there is simply nowhere at all to hang anything and the room is quite small so you end up putting everything on the floor - in fact lack of storage space was an issue all round in the room !! If you want to enjoy real, true Icelandic food - and you are not a vegetarian - a visit to Islenski Barinn Restaurant is a must it is a fantastic atmosphere with fantastic service and amazing, traditional food. You are able to book if you want to ensure a table. We had a wonderful stay in Reykjavik and would definitely return and recommend this hotel. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay in Iceland so memorable. Collapse

Radisson Blu is in the heart of Reykjavik making it a great location for walking. There are numerous restaurants and sights to see close by. All of the tour operators will pick you up from the hotel. My room was on third floor and had tall ceilings (12 ft) and was updated. There appears to be a "newer" portion of the hotel, but I was in the "older" section. Staff was very nice and helpful.
