A good hotel - let down by average customer service.

Two friends and I booked 3 nights at the Quentin Berlin for early December (at a very reasonable price). We had read the reviews and gathered that this hotel should not be judged by its exterior. The reception area was modern and clean, the desk was unmanned when we arrived and we waited some time before a member of staff came to take our bags. The room itself was ideal for 3 friends (we booked the room with 2 single and a king bed). The main problem for us was with the bathroom; the facilities were faultless but the electric blind within the glass window between the bathroom and bedroom was broken - in the up position! This meant the bathroom offered no privacy - particularly when using the toilet. We immediately called reception regarding this, who sent up a repair man a short while later. After pressing the up and down button he announced it could not be fixed without removing the glass, and that he would do this the following day - this was the last we heard of the repairman! This theme of poor customer service ran throughout the trip; upon asking if we could have 2 extra pillows, a disgruntled receptionist told us they would bring some up shortly - they didn't, in fact, appear until the cleaners had cleaned the room the next day! Slow responses to complaints and queries really let down our stay. The room itself was lovely. With mod-cons such as a rainfall shower, safe and electric curtains. It certainly was a bargain for the price we paid - the close proximity to a U-Bahn station (with direct links into the centre of Berlin) and the Ku'daam - are great selling points. However don't be surprised if the service you recieve isn't the 4*s you see on the door. Collapse
Good value for money

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is in a great location, 2 mins away from the u-bahn station which we found really easy to use and explored most of east and West Berlin. We didn't book with breakfast and we made the right choice - it was a small selection of cold meats, pastry and coffee etc which is fine but the price seems a little steep for what was offered. There is a great bakery just around the corner which cost us around €5 for a coffee and a pastry each. The room was fine, we booked the deluxe double. Our room overlooked the car park which was fine for us as we only used the room to sleep. They provide you with basic toiletries which were replenished every day. There is a mini bar with normal mini bar prices. The towels were very thin and not very large however the beds were comfy and we slept well. Overall - I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again it's good value for the money we paid (£50 per night). Collapse

Stayed here for 6 nights with my partner on a recent tourist trip to Berlin and it was excellent. The hotel itself is very clean and modern inside and the rooms are done to a high standard. The bathroom was immaculate with a spacious and very powerful shower. We booked the comfort double and it was worth the money. The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from the underground station and main bus links. I coulnd't fault the hotel at all and would highly recommend it. Collapse

We originally went to the wrong hotel - There are three Quentin hotels in Berlin. The Quentin designer hotel had a very welcoming and attractive foyer and it looked very nice. We were somewhat disappointed when we arrived at ours- The Quentin Berlin. The foyer is very black and dark. We went up to our room (a family room with a kingsize bed and an open doorway into another room with two single beds) Our two teenage grandchildren were very imressed. They liked the remote controlled curtains, the separate room, the big tv, comfy beds free wifi and the posh bathroom so we started to relax. We found that this hotel is in a very good spot near the Kürfürstendam and Adenauerplatz metro station. Getting around Berlin is easy and there are lots of things to see. We were there from Monday to Friday and we all thoroughly enjoyed. There is no kettle in the room but if you want one it will be provided free of charge and you supply your own milk, tea and coffee. (A bit disappointing really in a four star hotel). We had extra pillows for each bed even though they seemed surprised that we had asked. The pillows are feather so quite flat. Breakfast was not included in our stay and we didn't purchase any. It was expensive and the restaurant area being totally black is not inviting for me. Berlin is not cheap so take plenty of money if going with a family. You can pay 80 euros for evening meal for four not including desserts and the meal not that special really. It would be better if the pound was worth more against the euro but when we went it was basically one to one. Collapse
