I had rented a room for my girl friends birthday, upon arrival Frank at the front desk was very helpful and went beyond, we were on the second floor which just smelt of stale smoke. My partner is sensitive and our whole stay she had to continuously use her puffer and was itchy. The room we originally booked was not the one given to us and was not available Frank apologized but no discount was offered. When we got in the room the bed had dirty sheets (we had brought our own so thankful) and the fridge had a large spill in it and stunk. Win City Pub Was nice we could enjoy a meal in the hotel, the food was very good, but there was a pool tournament and it was quite packed we were unable to play pool and had to leave the hotel which was not as planned to go play at tavern. Returning to the hotel the ice machine was not working there were no cups in the room as well when we arrived earlier that day so anouther trip to the front desk as they do not like to answer the phone. Breakfast was great, when approaching the front desk to inquire where we go to eat I believe his name is Keith, was very rude and treated me and my girl friend not very well, not professionally, he responded as we should just know and then went and addressed the person behind us with a smile and complete different tone of voice. We felt judged as we are a lesbian couple and that he was being personal values to work or had some hate as we had anouther Incounter with him just walking in our room to request we check out, which we had already done half hour prior to that. He continuously raising his voice saying to get out of the hotel then. We had our stuff packed and we we're waiting for room service to come buy as we just wanted to give them the rest of our food and booze who doesn't want cheese cake and we did not want to travel with it. So we felt his reaction was no nessessary as we felt we were just being nice and I do not like being yeld at to leave an establishment. I would recommend this hotel if you are not a clean freak, you do not hold customer service at an all time high, and don't mind going to the front desk 8 times. My stay I was very disappointed and I hope next time if there is my view of this hotel can change as it is prime location and Keith if that's your name hopefully you can smile and not be so rude no one likes to feel judged!! We are literally still in the middle of our visit and I will definitely think twice before choosing to stay here again. We have stayed here twice in the last six weeks. In the suites which are $235 per night. We went to fill our ice bucket and there was 4 inches of water in the bottom from God knows how long. The people who stayed here previously may not have even used the ice bucket. That is so unsanitary and absolutely disgusting. My husband took the bucket down to the front desk to bring it to their attention and the MANAGER not the desk clerk the actual manager and his response was " what do you expect me to do?" Really??? not an apology for the oversight but an immediate defensive reply. So now they brought a new bucket with ice, at my husband's insistence, and a voucher for two drinks for the lounge that expire the day we check out. We didn't have time to use them before leaving for the evening, and certainly are not going to drink two drinks and check out and drive !!! ugh....Seriously is it so unreasonable to want a clean ice bucket free of standing water.... what happens if when the cleaning staff checks it, it was used but it's empty, is it being changed out? Or am I coming in and putting ice in a dirty container that then goes into my body GROSS!!! When you stay at a hotel it's blind faith that the cleaning staff are cleaning things properly... I didn't want a comped room I wanted a genuine apology for a oversight and instead was met with an immediate defensive response making me wonder if I should consider having our monthly hotel stays elsewhere. Booked here with online hotel site to give it a try. I like quality inn - this particular hotel has some good "Quality" features but others that do not represent the normal standard. The room itself was okay - basic but with a comfortable bed. The halls were not attractive and the carpets looked grubby. Parking is very limited in their lot and most spots are taken by bar patrons. What i especially did not like was that there appeared to be open access to hotel rooms from the lobby - in fact the elevator was almost right next to the bar door. This made me somewhat uncomfortable as the clientele seemed a bit rough. Breakfast was provided in the morning in a beautiful dining area but the food was not good. The eggs were inedible, ham was ok but cold and the hash browns were also cool though somewhat more edible than the eggs. Orange juice was a thick syrup and not drinkable - yogurt and oatmeal were okay. I would not stay here again because I did not like the open access and the people hanging around this hotel. The location is also a bit awkward to get in and out of although the spot itself is fairly good location. This place did not thrill me in any way and the breakfast for sure left me with a bad taste. Staff on the other hand were helpful and pleasant. Collapse

We spent 4 days here at the end of September for a wedding. Over two weeks on the road, this was the best value we came across. AND it was in a city. Amazing. The first night after arriving, I spent an hour in the basement gym on the treadmill recovering from 2000K of driving and sitting. All one would need to revive. (Next day, after the zoo, my Garmin was reading 17000 steps and I passed). I used to live in Winnipeg in the '70s. Absolutely no help. Thankfully the GPS saved us. The hotel is very centrally located. You can get anywhere from here in short order. We found that south to the Perimeter hwy was 15 minutes. So was the zoo and downtown (NOT during rush hrs). There are a number of large nearby malls that have everything one might need. Got some emergency hemming done overnight. My darling was more than happy with her breakfast choices. I was dazzled that there was a beer and liquor store open across the parking lot open at 2:30AM (& later on weekends). Wow. Don't get that in Ontario. There are also a number of dining possibilities within walking distance for eat-in or take-out. There is also on-site dining and the attached bar. I followed someone into the hotel the second night carrying a professional case with a break-down pool cue. There is a door off the lobby by the elevators. It leads to a very happening pool based bar with a large crowd on weekends and one-armed bandits. The sound-proofing is so good you wouldn't hear it by the elevators. Ditto for street noise in the room despite the nearby arteries. The main entrance for most will be out back through the parking lot. It is a leafy spot and abuts green space and trees by the parkway. (Attn: smokers). The room itself was on the smallish side. With 2 double beds, one was very close to the wall. We had to get rid of the ironing board and iron in order to stuff wedding clothes into the not very large closet. Cosy but doable. We had little contact with the staff except check-in & out. This my new Winnipeg base. Collapse
