Our plug sockets stopped working on our first night and we woke up to our phones having run out of battery. We told reception and they said that they would have it fixed so we went out for the day. When we came back in the late afternoon we found that the electric was still not working. When we informed reception they said that the maintenance man had been to our room already but sent him back up to us. When he got to the room he was very rude and told us there was nothing wrong as our lights were working. We explained that these were not the problem, just the sockets. He then tried to tell us that we obviously hadn't switched the sockets on.....to which we took great offence,we aren't that stupid. When he found that the problem could not be fixed so easily he started blaming us and telling us that we had obviously plugged something untoward into the sockets and blown them with too much power. All we had tried using was a phone chargers, pretty normal appliances if you ask me. He eventually climbed into the roof and fiddled about and the electrics were fixed.....temporarily. Our electric stopped working twice more after this and we were fobbed off and blamed. Finally my mum blew her lid and demanded that our room be changed. The woman on reception was rude and reluctant to do anything about the situation until the manager stepped in and explained that this wasn't the first time we had encountered this issue. She then agreed to move our room for one night and told us we would have to move again in the morning. Again, understandably, my mum was angry at this news and refused to move twice so they agreed to let us stay in the new room for the rest of the holiday. With regards to the food I ended up being extremely angry and disappointed. Being vegetarian I naturally only went for food which was marked as being suitable for my dietary needs. I kept noticing that things on the menu were marked as being vegetarian but had meat or fish listed in the ingredients, clearly no care or attention was put into creating the menu at all and the staff had no idea what constituted vegetarian food. One night I looked at the menu and there was a meal of "Baked rice, pumpkin and gorganzola cheese" which was marked as being suitable for me to eat and there was no mention of meat. I went to the buffet and the label above the meal stated exactly the same so I piled it onto my plate and started eating it. Suddenly, as I was beginning to get the the bottom of the dish I realised that I was staring at a plate full of mince meat!!! I had been eating meat!! I promptly threw my cutlery down and pushed my plate away. When I complained to the waitress she said it wasn't her problem and that I needed to speak to the chef. After we told her that, in fact, as a member of staff in the restaurant, it was indeed her problem she went to speak to the kitchen. She called me over to where one of the chefs was stood and told him I was "the vegetarian one". He then proceeded to almost throw a plate of food at me and tell me "that's all we have got". It was not what was offered on the menu and so I was disappointed and I was made to feel like complete rubbish for daring to complain. Yes, it is my own choice to be vegetarian but it is hardly a strange choice in this day and age and should be catered for, especially as there are some people who do not eat meat for medical reasons and could have become seriously ill. We did not eat in the hotel for the rest of our trip as I did not trust the food, despite paying for half board. Collapse

Clean & friendly hotel. Booked a twin room but ended up with a triple room which was ideal (middle bed used for suitcases) good sized room. English plugs so no need for adapters. Kettle but you will need to buy coffee etc. Fridge, hairdryer and perfectly working air con. Half board - food far better than the reviews lead you to believe. Cooked hot meats and fish, roasters, veg. Salads with cold meats. Gorgeous desserts and ice creams. Breakfast continental, cooked, cereals, croissants, juices and coffee. No chips! All well cooked and the dinning room kept spotless, no dirty tables. Lovely lil cocktail bar across the road called Cheeky Monkey - 2 4 1 cocktails 4pm til 7pm. Inside adult swings. Plenty of organised trips along the road. If you go on the Hop on Off off bus - go on the South Tour and stop in the fishing village its beautiful then stop at the Blue Grotto. Personally I prefer the South, far prettier Collapse

Firstly I have to concur with reviewers regarding the Lost & Found festival taking place over our first weekend. Place absolutely full of idiots (mainly Brits) swearing, shouting, banging doors and generally disturbing everybody all night. Security not interested. I went down to reception at 4am one morning and there were 3 security guards all sipping coffee, 1 reclining on one of the sofas, none aware or interested in the chaos going on upstairs until I pointed out to them in no uncertain terms that they should be managing the situation. After the festival things calmed down. Service at reception was, frankly, lamentable and the "free" wifi in the lobby and coffee shop worked for no longer than 2 minutes at a time and never between the hours of 07:30 and midnight. But there are good things about the place. It is clean and bright. The coffee shop at the front is excellent although not included in the "all" inclusive. Bar selection is fairly poor. Poolside bar opened and closed almost randomly and the choice of TV channels in the room was rubbish. The food, however, was great. At times (particularly over the Easter weekend), better than great We stayed for 2 weeks and never once had the same thing, whether at lunch or dinner. Breakfast was fairly standard in terms of choice but quality was always good. I would applaud the hotel for providing a great variety of seafood and local specialities - rabbit in sauce etc. The Maltese buffet in particular is worthy of mention. Desserts were always a treat. Some members of staff were very cheery and helpful but bad managers insisted on berating staff in public and in front of guests. Very unprofessional. Would I stay again? Possibly yes. But I would make sure that I missed any weekend festivals! Collapse

Arrived just after a full bus load of guests so had to sit in the cafe area for almost three hours to check in. Not hotel fault just ill timing. Given room 133. Nice room on first floor but next to noisy external air con unit. We asked to be moved to a sunnier higher room and we're moved to 552 on the side of the hotel which overlooks the street but with a sea view too. Room spacious and clean with modern shower room, lots of wardrobe space and drawers, fridge and safe. Small balcony with two chairs and a table. Large bed with crisp white sheets. Rooms cleaned daily and clean towels when needed. We were half board. Plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner. Buffet style. Not fine dining but adequate. We ate out a couple of nights too. Once at la stalla about a mile away in bugidda and once at taraggon overlooking st paul's bay. Both excellent. Pool area was ok but very crowded. Hotel has spa, small games room and gift shops. However as mentioned in other reviews most of the clientele is older. We are 57 and 60 and felt young for a change! I'd recommend it to an older couple. Collapse

Firstly shame on Mercury Travel for not telling us a year ago that over the Easter holidays this hotel is full of drunken Brits for a four days rave which involved no sleep for days on end shouting swearing banging on doors and room parties until 6am being sick in corridors it was awful and the lack of security was a joke , this is a annual event which brings a lot of money into Malta so us older ones it's tough luck The food was average but a good position to travel around the island ,my first experience of Malta I won't be back especially as there are talk of move raves at holiday times Collapse
