me and my husband had never been to malta before and everyone that we spoke to all said you would either love it or hate it, i wouldn't say that i would return again but we had a lovely holiday the first couple of days it rained, but after that the weather was lovely, the palace hotel we sayed in was very clean and nice, but the bathrooms could do with a make over but was very clean i might add, if you do go with children they will love popey village, but the pavements out there are a little concerning for elderly people, but all in all we had a lovely time. Well we’ve come back from our 2nd visit to the Qawra Palace Hotel and once again had a smashing time. We arrived at one thirty in the morning and were greeted by friendly receptionists. It was busier with kids this time around and they were a bit of a pain in the indoor pool, diving in off the side and general running around unsupervised but not the hotels fault. One of the fathers found it acceptable for his son to gulp the water out of the pool and then spit it at him and his friends which made me annoyed and the same father smashed a football into the ceramic water cascade in the indoor pool chipping the bottom of it, and pulling part of it away from the wall! Disgusting. The outdoor pool was lovely, I spent most of the time in that and the Jacuzzi (only one of the two was working) but it was never overcrowded, in fact most of the time it was just me in there! The sea was warm to swim in, and I had a little go at snorkelling, plenty of fish to see! We had a sea view balcony again, the hotel very kindly listened to my email request for the same room as the year before but it had been occupied so we had the same room just the floor above which was nice and accommodating of them, room 720. We pushed the beds together. The refurb of the bathrooms have been done lovely, there wasn’t always hot water for a shower, I’d say only about 60% of the time, but I guess everyone was using it more or less at the same time in the mornings which is the reason why. The weather was lovely and warm. We did the same as everyone else and put our towels on the sunbeds after breakfast (but we needed shade not sun!). The only problems we encountered were the toasters at breakfast: you have to put your bread through twice to brown it sufficiently and there is always a queue. Plenty of choice for breakfast and evening, I love their bacon! We stayed half board and breakfast and dinner both had plenty of variety, the one dish was lamb loins done in a rosemary jus and the meat just fell of the bone, it was the nicest lamb I’ve ever tasted, top marks to the chefs who work tirelessly to cook and cook and cook and come up with inspiring and interesting dishes. Lunch times we walked along the road from the Hotel and went to various restaurants, Luzzu was one, we had pizza and pasta and can recommend thoroughly, there are a few down on the sea front, one is right after the Lido and is very nice. I can recommend the chocolate orange cake and the fruity chicken curry! We went on a day drip to Valetta and went to the Malta Experience and saw the Malta Experience Show in the cinema, it was great. Then we went to the Knights Hospital and their wax work museum, very interesting. We also went to Valetta at night tour on the coach, which has replaced the open top tour. It was really good, our guide Jo was very helpful. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel. I would give it easily ten out of ten. We won’t be going back again in the immediate future as we said we didn’t want to holiday in the same place more than two years in a row and would like to go to another country but I wouldn’t hesitate going back again in the future. Just returned from 10days at this hotel. On entering you notice the spacious and spotless reception area. Had requested sea view room but was told none available, was I glad not to get a front sea view room as sun disappears early afternoon and noisier. Was delighted to get side sea view room sun all day. Thank You Marion for all your help. Food was fine always great selection of hot and cold at breakfast and dinner. No one is more fussier than my husband and he always found something. Great seafront location and lovely promenade for walks every day. It was worth paying 6 euros for 2 sunbeds with cushions and umbrella at rock area, much quieter and steps down into sea which was lovely and warm. Staff very helpful and friendly especially Louise in outside bar. She made your day with her smile and compliments. Food also good in Cafe Royale especially the selection of cakes. Good selection of spa treatments , football matches for the avid supporter, and entertainment changed every night. Games room, internet (cost) and drinks and snacks machines if you felt like a nibble later on. Wet room shower was hot and towels changed every day. Also little toiletries with Qawra Palace logo made this extra special. Those that write negative comments are so wrong and awkward. Been to 5star in Tenerife every year but will definately be back at this hotel next year. Thank You Qawra Palace. Collapse

On arrival in Qawra we were in need of something to eat. Lunch time and the Qawra Palace Hotel looked ideal. Situated in Qawra seafront and fully air conditioned we ordered from a salad manu. We both had a salad dish and we were supprised when it arrived. The proportions were very large and not smothered in salad dressing. We could taste the food. We followed this up with an iced coffee. The staff were friendly and efficient and looked after us well. The price of the meals were not extortionate. We did look in at the Palace one evening and found they were full and was advised to book in advance. Well done the Qawra Palace Hotel. Collapse

We stayed at this hotel for 7 nights with our 2 year old daughter. The hotel is well placed on the Qawra sea front and a 15-20 minute walk around the bay from the busier Bugibba. Rooms are were adequate in size and comfort, easily accommodating twin beds stuck together and a cot. We had a sea view and what a fantastic view it was! Fridges and air con were ineffectual and may as well have not been there. Bathroom was lovely - no bath but a very good shower. Pool facilities are good, a large outdoor pool that gets direct sun all afternoon and overlooks the seafront with a smaller pool for younger kids. There's also an indoor pool which was closed during our visit. Food was reasonable - we were only on a B&B rate but this was perfectly fine. There is a cafe attached to the hotel which we visited once and left disappointed as 25 minutes after ordering we were approached by a staff member and told we "couldn't just sit there" and had to order...we had but the order had never been processed, we left and ate lunch elsewhere. This is an 8 storey hotel with 3 lifts plus an additional service lift. These proved to be unreliable with no more than 2 working at anyone time and each time a lift was called it seemed to override the previous call meaning a wait of nearly 25 minutes at times. The lift was essential for us with a buggy but was barely big enough for that and anymore than 1 other person. Either ask for a low floor and sacrifice the sea view or be prepared to climb! Collapse
