Currently on our last day at Puerto azul. Travelled with jet2 the flight was very smooth check in brilliant. Took about 45 minutes to get to our hotel but we was 3rd drop off so I think it depends on how far down drop off you are to how long it will take you. Arrived in reception which is very clean the reception staff are all amazing and helpful and give you plenty of information. We had booked an upgraded room. Room number 5806 which to be fair is probably one of the best rooms we have ever stopped in we booked this for the bunk beds for our 2 boys age 10 and 6. They are spacious modern and well it. The balcony was hugh containing a table with 4 chairs and 2 sun loungers. Our view was a sea view and was beautiful seeing the boats at night all lit up. Even though our room was really close to the pool area we could hear no noise. I will state again the view is incredible and this is the thing I will miss the most. You are really close to the europa centre which is a 10 min walk up hill. or the commercial centre at the bottom of Puerto Rico which is around 700 steps down and a taxi back up cost no more than 4 euros. The pool area is really clean the sun beds was an issue when we first arrived but going into our 2nd week they relaxed and let people get a bed whenever they pleased. The adults area was opened up to accomadate bathers with children as long as they didn't go in the infinity pool. The lifeguard was always hard at work and saw him may times respond to injurys cur fingers and toes immediately. Whilst we was there we had the pool closed twice due to someone having a poo in the pool once again this was dealt with quickly and shut off for the remainder on the day. The snack bar was ok but I preferred to eat in the restaurant at lunch due to there been more choice. Be careful in the pool bar area it gets really slippy and saw many of people slip over not the hotels fault as it's stated not to go in wet but people still do. Not once did I come across a member of staff who didn't Smile or make you feel welcome all of them work incredibly hard and long hours. Unjust say a special thanks to everyone of the entertainment staff they was brilliant and my 6 year old loves mini kids Club which runs most days from 2:30 untill 4:30 some days they have special events which you have to pay for but it's worth it to keep them out of the sun for a few hours. He loved Chloe. And all the entertainment staff new all the kids names and always spoke weather it was on the street in Puerto Rico or just in the restaurant. These also worked hard and was on the go from morning untill night. And made our boys holidays. The cleaners are very good. All in all we had a very relaxing holiday and would Most deffinatly visit Puerto azul again having stopped in a few hotels in Puerto Rico this is probably the best we have. Collapse
Having a great holiday.

We are currently staying at the hotel and having a great time. Ok..so our room is a little dated and it has taken us our first two days to get used to finding it with all the stairs..but for the excellent view...it's worth it...ask for room 3205 !!! We had a few problems with room that once reported were looked at almost immediately. One issue being no hot water first thing. I received a courtesy call yesterday asking if issue was resolved ( which it wasn't ) almost immediately this was sorted out. The staff here are so polite and friendly seem genuinely happy doing their jobs. The hotel is a little dated but I get the impression most of the hotels are. This hotel is so clean and has an excellent atmosphere...no rowdiness at all. There are often games in the pools...and the night entertainment for children is perfect. Only last night, after the mini disco there were party games and then the main entertainment kept everyone happy. ( I can do that with hula hoops....not !! ) I personally think the food is excellent ...and again the cleanliness fantastic. We have o ly been here a couple of days and visited Puerto Rico beach using the steps down...We personally thought it was a lovely walk down..with our Seven year old..who loved the view. Once down there we found the beach to be very clean with a great atmosphere. It was less than €4 for a taxi back. We booked through jet 2 and the reps are so lovely. We have 3 trips booked now through them. Palmitos Park, Aqualand, and Spirit of the Sea dolphin and whale watching trip...really looking forward to all three. We are enjoying our holiday so very much...negative reviews on here all.ist had us changing our hotel...so pleased we didn't....we are having g a Fab holiday. Collapse

We are currently staying here 5 adults 2 babies (5 months ). Can't find fault with the hotel. Rooms are spacious really modern and have air conditioning (you have to have all doors shut as this is triggered by door opening). Exceptionally high standard of cleanliness. The balcony area is quite big containing tables and 2 loungers. The food is High quality and very varied. I haven't had the same dish twice although I'm not a fussy eater and enjoy trying different food. Breakfast has about 50 choices pancakes eggs cooked to order Children have a specified area with hot dogs nuggets ect.. Entertainers are lively enthusiastic and cater for all ages. The Dominican girl is especially good. The entertainment is very family orientated so families have a good program choice I enjoyed the zumba but water polo darts and others were available. Spent most of our time in the infinity pool terrace due to having babies and not needing to be near a pool. The view is spectacular cooler and a lot quieter than the main pool terrace. You have a choice of evening entertainment upstairs bar is smaller and the mojito are made to order. Considering the hotel is full to capacity they have not let their standards drop and coped well. I consider it only fair to justify the negative reviews. Yes there was a rush for sun beds (seen in the media) this was due to people getting up at " silly o clock" trying to save beds. The hotel addressed this by refusing entry untill 9am. To enable staff to thoroughly clean the area. I was actually told by another guest i needed to set an alarm for 7am to get in the queue. This kind of mentality promoted the morning dash even though the hotel had put measures in to prevent it. Needing shade for the babies I found myself going along with this at first however these "morons" have now gone home it's currently 9.30 and there is loads of available sun beds. Overall this has probably been the best hotel (for the money) that I have stayed at. The NEGATIVE issues here have been created by the people any complaints ie lack of sun beds parasols etc have been quickly responded to and addressed by the hotel . I have to take vacations in school holidays therefore everywhere is generally running at capacity but I feel under the circumstances the hotel did everything possible to accommodate this. I would certainly return here It is a fantastic hotel if only i could visit outside of school holidays. Collapse

my family of four stayed here for the first(and last) time in July 17 for 11 days..on arrival everything looks great when you walk in,lovely lobby area and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, its a big complex so we had received a map of the apartments layout from which we had to find our apartment,we arrived around 10pm so it was a little tricky at first but a short while into it and 2 lifts later we got there, our 1 bed junior suite was fine and was fairly well appointed considering we went for the all inclusive option,we had kettle, microwave, toaster etc,Ive been in hotels with inclusive and we had none of these so all good so far,i have to say at this point about the cleaning staff,i found them to be very friendly and helpful when needed and also professional, also our room was one of the newly designed ones so be careful when booking as i was speaking to some who thought they were getting a new room but ended up the the older rooms, which don't have air con (and are also very dated) and this really made a difference to us as the temperature was between 35 & 40 degrees..so onto our first full day at the hotel and this is where things started to come to light,we made our way to the pool at about 9.15am to find that there wasn't a single sunbed left except for in the "adult only area" which ill come back to but is a complete waste of space at the moment,so after talking to some lovely people we found out that to get any sunbeds at all you really have to be a queue from about 7.45am and stand in this queue until 9am when the staff come around and drop the plastic chains from the surrounding pool entrance areas, then the madness begins, you literally have to scramble to grab beds,it can be really pot luck until you do this for a few days and you start to know where certain families go for,i myself got into a screaming match with a Russian man who used all kinds of very loud bad language because he didn't reach the beds before me,which was not his fault or mine but the hotels, its crazy what happens every day here and its a bad accident waiting to happen in my opinion,i decided after this to not do this anymore as im on holiday too and this really wasn't helping things every day,my wife did go out most days and got a couple of beds as she got friendly with others there so they all knew what they were going for...there was a lady staying here with a young girl in a wheelchair and to see what she had to go through every day just to try get her young girl near to the pool was a complete joke and really disgraceful, total mismanagement,it seems to have gotten out of hand and they dont seem to know what to do to fix this problem,i had two meetings with the manager of the hotel where he presented me with a family pass to a local attraction and also a meal voucher for a nearby restaurant for my trouble, that was all very well and i think its there way of fobbing off anyone that bothers complaining, but its not helping with whats going on,the food was adequate and you could nearly always get something to keep you going until your next mealtime but it was quite repetitive and also a lot of drinks were from a dispenser(cocktails etc) so that was fairly poor too,the walk from the pool to the bar area is on a tiled floor which i witnessed a number of people having bad falls, there are signs up to please wear footwear etc so be careful if u end up here...the entertainment programme leaves a lot to be desired...its for 8-16 yr olds, which seems crazy to me,when u consider the 8,9 yr olds were dancing with the hotel mascot or colouring in pages and my near 15 yr old is meant to do the same thing,ha really...it should be broken into two groups, maybe 8-11 and 12-16 ??...taxis were cheap to surrounding shops etc and that was a bonus when we wanted a change of scenery for a few hours....there is an adult only sunbed area which consists of maybe 150 beds which at any given time when i was there had maybe 20-30 occupants and the rest were left empty but yet no children are allowed there either,i just think that area could be made a lot smaller to help with the family area but when i said this it was just passed off....while talking to the manager about these issues he told me that the hotel was closing for 3 months next year to redesign the pool area and try sort these issues so ill be keeping an eye on this to see if he was just saying this to appease me...i was really looking forward to going here as on paper it looks really nice etc but unfortunately it didn't deliver in reality and we certainly will not be back here,im going to e mail the company who run the hotel and see what they have to say but i wont be holding my breath to hear what they have to say as i dont think it would change my mind about revisiting Collapse

stayed june/july family of 4. Good points. 1. food . Always a good choice. 2.Drinks. Good selection of a/i drinks. 3. Shop at hotel entrance. 4. views from hotel. 5. location. 5 minute walk up hill to Eropa. Bad point..... 1. pool bar area smells of poo...i witnessed dirty nappies in bins. 2. pool toilets. you have to hold your breath or the smell from the toilet will stay with you all day. 3. Sunbeds. I have never seen a more pathetic sight with adults running to grab a sunbed when chain goes down. They will just run past you...i saw two grown mem fist pump each other when bed secured. If you run for beds you are a joke!! 4. Some people. This hotel is pretty cheap...problem is so are some of the people.....this is butlins in the sun. Expected to see folk cashing in giro's for euro's. 5. Adult area... to big and a waste of space. 6. pool and bar area overcrowded. 7. Entertainment....dont expect much but it is garbage....pure garbage 8.Group of German folk...playing music on loudspeakers and causing issues in bar area...people moving away from them and there drunk conduct...staff not interested when asked to speak to them. ......... gave it 3 because of the good points mentioned but this is very generous. Would not return....... Collapse
