We just got back and we had a great time one or two things that didn't like we stayed in room 4010 no view when we book we though we had got a room over looking the sea but no looking to hotel straight across no view it was like a basement you had to get two lifts to the room I wouldn't have like to have gone to the room late at night with out my husband as it was daunting.we ask to be moved but was told yes if we played 10euro per night extra . Our daughter and her partner was stuck in the lift at 2 30 in the morning no one came to her help so she rang 999 as she didn't no what to do as they was stuck for 2hours she was heart broken when there got her out as it was that hot and she was panicking. Make sure you are up and out of bed to get a sun lounger round the pool 9.oclock now that's my moans. Now good reviews food was lovely and plenty of choice snack bar had got lots of choice even donner kebabs we stayed at lots of hotel and choice here was brillant 7 of us went and not one of us had a bad meal. Pool area lots of pools and be early to get a bed my granddaughter loved it would deffo return but make sure we got a room near to the reception. 3euro to beach go to the beach moor to the left as the one we went on wasn't very good. We stayed here as two young couples and really enjoyed our stay. As a couple who usually opt for 4/5 star we were really happy with the standard. The hotel is impressive as soon as you walk through the doors. The pool area was great plenty of sun beds and a big pool. Also adults pool area was a huge plus for us as visitors without children. Staff in restaurant were lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. Food was much better than any other all-inclusive I’ve experienced; it was well cooked with great choice. Breakfast was my personal favourite. The drinks were great really strong and you could literally have anything you want with no limits. We were given the older non-refurbed family rooms and although they were pretty dated and basic they more than done the job. Great when you don’t spend much time in your room anyway! If you’re super fussy you can pay extra for a newer room. Have to admit the only problem we did have was finding our room on arrival but once we did it became easy…plus because our room was far away from the main section of hotel it was very quiet and private. We hired a car which I’d definitely recommend as it is very high up + it allows you to go further around Gran Canaria as we did. All-round I’d definitely recommend if you want an above average 3-star hotel with great facilities and food. Collapse

Went her for 1 week with 2 kids and a baby....I had previously been here in 1998 and always wanted to return. ( the bottle of wine for being a returning guest was a nice touch..!) The weather was great as expected...the hotel was clean and tidy and the food was great. The staff are on the ball and always helpful and friendly, the views are exceptional too. My only bad point would be that for a family with kids...you cannot get away from the dreaded chain smokers...there is no smoking signs in the bar area however the most ignorant of people even lit up in this area...the staff did tell them off but it continued....there should be a designated smoke free area near the toddler park and pool and this would have made much better for those of us who don't want to smoke 100 fags an hour. That said it was a fantastic holiday and I would definitely recommend servatur puerto azul as a good family hotel! Collapse

We booked the new Superior suite with a sea view for ourselves and are little boy for 7 days. The hotel room was clean and very modern equipped with a sofa lamps plasma tv air conditioning bunk beds comfortable single beds and a walk in shower also many kitchen essentials kettle toaster microwave plates cups etc.. The pool bar was clean and efficient as you didn't have to get chAnged to have drinks and snacks however there are rules for the pool are no sun bed reservations before 9am the hotel takes this very seriously therefore when the barrier went down people were literally running and scrapping over the sun beds. To avoid disappointment get there for 8.50... the food at the hotel was ok no complaints for an all inclusive some days you will notice it becomes repetitive the resturant to the left has Lot more to choose from and the specials the chef does are worth trying on the grill. Again breakfast and lunch are quite repetitive. There are also rules for the drinks at this hotel As you are only allowed to order two drinks at one time and at 11pm you do have to pay. The entertainment was ok some days and shocking others it states adult entertainment but we would say it's more for children. There is a little park near the pool area which you should be warned there is a 100ft drop right next to it which should be made a little more safe as I noticed kids climbing on the wall to get in to the park. The pool area is clean however is advised not wearing googles in the pool but it is cleaned daily. The adult only section is very peaceful with a jacuzzi overlooking the sea. Taxi services were a regular for us also with if being a long way down to the beach costing no more than €3. Over all this is a good family holiday especially if you have children but I'd suggest staying some where else if you don't..we used the kids club one day and my little boy was really happy with the activities that he did for the two hour duration. We would stay again Collapse

Booked this hotel with alpha rooms and stayed as a family of 4 with 2 children aged 4 and 8 in May. First impressions were great! As it was our eldest sons Birthday whilst we were on holiday we organised a cake before we arrived and the hotel were really helpful in sorting this. We arrived at 10.30pm and was quickly checked in and was advised we had a one bedroom apartment with a sea view but not one of the upgraded rooms. We were told of some food in the restaurant and directed to our room. Our room was fab! I was so apprehensive about the reviews about these old rooms but there really was no reason. Rooms are big and spacious, very clean, no air con in the apartments which would have been nice but nice big bathrooms with a hairdryer and a wonderful sea view. On arrival we had a couple of drinks ( AI finishes at 11pm) and we took some bread to the room for toast ( note - one of the restaurants is open every night with cold buffet if you get peckish late on, but once the foods gone it's gone!) I would advise pre making a couple of sandwiches if you think you will get hungry late on! On our first morning ( our sons birthday) we were woken by a member of the hotel staff bringing our son a birthday card, a box of chocolates and 2 inflatable frisbees! To say we were impressed is an understatement! What a lovely touch! When we went down for our evening meal that night we were escorted to our table to be greeted with a dressed table with sprinkles and candles, a party hat and sash for our son and champagne for me and my husband, after our meal the waitress Elena brought our our prebooked cake and sung happy birthday which was lovely. For a special occasion I would definitely in form the hotel beforehand! They really made our sons Birthday super special! Pools in this hotel are lovely but get very busy and beds get reserved early which was frustrating but we always managed to get a bed just not in our preferred location, near the kids pool. Food was spot on, some nights were better than others but we always found something varied to eat as did our children and it was well cooked. The snack bar during the day in my opinion was definitely more than a snack bar - fresh paella, ribs, chicken wings, salads, Chinese noodles and then your usual burgers, hot dogs chips etc. We always found the snack bar replenished well and fresh although sometimes a little busy. The entertainment was OK, I've seen a lot worse! A couple of the shows were a bit dire but the kids disco always went down well with our youngsters as did the onsite arcade where there is pool, table tennis, air hockey etc. There is also a little play area which our children enjoyed. The entertainment team were fabulous here! Without doubt the hardest working entertainment team I've come across! Arts and crafts for the younger children on the stage and then football, pool, darts etc for the older ones. Spot games, activities, disco and shows all by the same team who were friendly and approachable, knew the children by name and really made them feel involved! There is also a Thomas Cook kids club here which is available to everyone. Some activities are chargeable such as the chocolate party 10 euros but this is for 2 hours which we thought was good value considering the goodies our kids came away with. They also do sign in sessions which are free, where the kids can go make friends and do activities and shows etc in a designated thomas cook room. The staff at this hotel were always helpful and although we weren't able to extend our room to late check out and had to get ready in the courtesy room we didn't find this a problem. The courtesy room was tidy and spacious with toiletries inside and we were given towels etc . I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again. We paid a bargain price and got great value for money. Location was great for us and often walked up to the Europa centre and spent a couple of days by the beach which again we walked too but got taxis back up! In my opinion this hotel is a fab AI hotel and we will definitely be returning! Collapse
