We stayed here for 3 nights over Easter weekend. The hotel is very conveniently located for both main train station and easy access to underground and trams to centre. The service was good and efficient. The room we on 7th floor, very clean and well kept. The TV stopped working on the last night but we didn't really need it. We suspected that someone was entering the room even when we put in the no disturb sign while we went out. We found nothing missing but a few of our belongings were definitely tampered with. We did not tell management since nothing went missing. Collapse

This is a good hotel which delivers what it promises. If you know what you are looking for and what you are prepared to put up with, then you won't be disappointed. Its location has both pros and cons. It is 5-10 minutes from the Hauptbanhof, so with the local trains going to and from the airport twice an hour, we had the smoothest airport transfer ever. The underground is inside the train station, so going to the city centre and back was quick and easy as it's only a couple stops away from the main stations like Karlsplatz or Stephansdom. The street itself, however, is rather unpleasant, with one side of it being all building sites and the other side a row of boring buildings with rather tired shopfronts. Walking that street you wouldn't think that if you just turn the corner you will see the lovely Vienna - yet this is exactly what it is as Belvedere complex is literally round the corner. The immediate walkable area does not offer many good dining choices, ( with a couple exceptions like Lima 56), so I would recommend looking further afield for dining, since the underground system is so efficient. The hotel looks unattractive on the outside, but is quite pleasant once inside, with the mock imperial decor throughout the public areas. And the bar area, where we enjoyed our drinks on a couple nights, reminded us of the film "Grand Budapest Hotel" in the 60s. The rooms are all right, perhaps a little on the small side, but sufficient. Our room looked out into the inner courtyard so was nice and quiet. The beds are comfy and there is air conditioning. There is a very old looking TV in the room which we were not tempted to use. There's a fridge ( nice to keep a bottle of Grune Wetliner in) but no kettle: the latter is a feature of most Viennese hotels, apparently. The bathroom is well-fitted and looks new and well-kept, although the position of the taps and shower on the wall was a bit strange ( this may present a problem for a more portly person) and the glass divide could be wider. Breakfast is perhaps the best thing about this hotel - it is an extensive buffet with both cooked and cold choices, served in a nice spacious area upstairs. Every table has its own coffee pot, which we found most convenient. Being 'early birds', we especially appreciated that breakfast was served from 6:00 onwards. Both check-in and check-out were smooth. The cleaning times must be quite tight, as on our first day our room didn't get cleaned because we happened to be in it while they were doing the cleaning on the floor so they just changed the towels and the bins and didn't come back to it later. On all other days it was cleaned well. Wi-Fi worked smoothly throughout or stay. Generally, this hotel is good value for money so I would recommend it if you are looking for a simple place with good breakfast and close to to transport links. Collapse

Not physically possible for this hotel to be a luxury 4*, more like a basic 1 star tired Guest House. Location is strange as right next door to a building site which is not shown on their website. One entire building next door to this hotel has been bull dosed down, maybe this Hotel is next on the list. A couple of Award Certificates (not recent) seen to be displayed in reception area, not quite sure how they received these awards after staying at the Hotel with my family but still. Reception manned by only one slow staff member, long waiting times seen in order to speak to Receptionist if someone else was being assisted. Extremely basic hotel, bedrooms smelled of an awful stale dirty musky smell as if it they had not been cleaned for many many years, strange old 1960's or older internal door located inside the bedrooms. Getting in and out of the shower was quite a task and a total death trap for anyone as the tub sloped and positioning of a small shower screen; anyone can easily have a pretty fatal accident. No dry cleaning bags found in our rooms, so we presumed dry cleaning was not available at this hotel, no free newspaper received by any family member as advertised on their website. No one was ever seen to be having drinks in the bar area which was unmanned most of the time as the staff member was seen to be socializing with staff. Self service breakfast was worse than bad and cheaper than cheap with extremely limited choice, cold stale cheap bread displayed, nothing displayed of a 4* standard, that's for sure. We were dreaming if we thought there would be fresh croissants and pastries on offer instead inedible rotten fruit was available, we were not at all impressed and starved. The breakfast room was packed full of Chinese Groups, the only waiter who manned the entire breakfast room could not speak any English. Collapse
