Excellent location close to King's Cross and St. Pancras stations. Secure location- not the most modern but very good value room. We had a triple with ensuite bathroom (shower & toilet with sink). Carpeting was not the newest but seemed clean enough. Very nice front desk staff. We stayed 2 nights (husband & 8 year old daughter). Lots of pubs with good menu selections nearby. Also close to Hop on Hop off bus stop. Would stay here again. Collapse

The hotel is located within easy walking distance of Kings Cross/St Pancras. It had all of the bare necessities and everyone was helpful and friendly. You could purchase breakfast as an add on. It is not served at this hotel but at an affiliated hotel around the corner. Breakfast was simple but good and filling. You must buzz to get into the hotel and occasionally the staff will be at the other hotel and it will take them a minute to get there. Not a big deal at all, but be aware of it. (One visitor there during our stay was very put out by having to wait to enter.) Shared bathroom but we never had to wait to get it, and it was clean. The towels are very small and thin but that's common in most budget hotels. Beds were not the most comfortable, but I confess that it is pretty difficult to find a triple room anywhere. Overall: safe, clean place to stay. It's not like we spent a lot of time in our room. Collapse
Convenient but extremely basic, and pricey.

We recently spent a night in London en route to Edinburgh, and stayed at the Princess Hotel. A quick summary of the pluses and minuses of this place: a) The pluses: 1. Location - the hotel is a 2-3 minute walk from the St. Pancras and Kings Cross stations, and is therefore ideal for anyone who plans to catch a train from one of these stations (this was our main motivation behind choosing the Princess Hotel - we were scheduled to be catching a train to Edinburgh from King's Cross the next day). 2. Cleanliness - the place is quite well-maintained b) The Minuses 1. Room sizes - tiny, to say the least! As we were 4 of us, we had booked a family room with an en-suite bathroom (comprising 1 queen sized double bed, and 2 single beds). I understand that this is one of the larger rooms in the property - and it was a challenge to move from one part of the room to another without bumping into one of the beds or crashing into another human being! 2. Lifts (or the lack thereof) - the property has no lifts, and the staircases are rather narrow and winding. So if you are traveling with heavy bags (like we did), lugging said bags up to the room and back down can be an ordeal. The hotel was kind enough to accommodate us with a room on the first floor - had we been allotted one on the 2nd or 3rd floor, we really would have struggled. 3. No breakfast/ any other amenities - although I understand that the hotel can organise for you to have breakfast at a neighboring hotel for a price of GBP 5/ person. Having said this, the hotel's location does mean that finding eating joints at a walking distance is not too difficult. 4. The price - we paid over GBP 250 for one night, which I felt was rather exorbitant for the place (even after accounting for the fact that this is Central London and that August is peak tourist season). To put things in perspective, these prices were in line with the price that I paid (inclusive of breakfast) when I returned to London for a 4-star property very close to Westminster Bridge, for a family room that was substantially larger, and offered a number of other amenities/ services. In summary, if you are: a) Looking for a place to spend 1 or at best 2 nights in close proximity to King's Cross or St. Pancras, b) Traveling without much luggage c) Ok with spending that extra amount, you could consider the Princess Hotel as an option. If these are not considerations for you, there are bound to be better options in London. Collapse

Stayed in a double room with own bathroom and separate beds. Overall the room and hotel was much better than expected. The beds didn't look to comfy on pictures but they were absolute fine. Room and bathroom very clean, highly appreciated. Wifi worked great. Staff very friendly. I recommend the hotel even though Argyle street and the nearby streets wasn't our cup of tea, so will not stay here again, atleast not if I'd travel alone. Positive - it's located very close to Kings cross. Collapse
