We were staying in the Poseidon Palace but we usually went over to the sister hotel where the evening entertainment was mostly entertaining! There were many Spanish staying and they did enjoy their ballroom and line dancing. Then later there would have been an act- some more enjoyable than others! There was also a programme of activities during the day but we didn't partake as we were usually out and about. The buffet food was varied and adequate and they were very good at indicating what was gluten-free. Unfortunately it was not as hot as we Brits would like it. However there was always something being freshly cooked by the chef - fish, chicken etc. The furniture in the bedrooms could have done with some up-dating and voices/tv could be heard from adjoining rooms. Staff were most attentive and friendly. Collapse
Very comfortable stay (and great for gluten free)

This isn't the Ritz and it isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea but we were extremely comfortable here for a week at the end of January. We paid little more than £30pppn for a double and single room all inclusive, with virtually no single supplement. That was a lucky find, and I'd recommend searching for the best price across different onilne agents as the prices do vary. It represented excellent value. We stayed in the Palace building on the 7th floor and asked for afternoon sun facing rooms which we got from our balconies which were very private. The rooms were fresh and comfortable and had laminate floors, modern dark wood colours and had clearly been refurbished not too long ago. The bathrooms were sparkling and everything worked. In fact, the whole complex is spotless. The walls are a little thin and I imagine you could get unlucky with your neighbours, but we didn't encounter any lasting problems on the noise front. Wifi was absolutely excellent throughout the hotel. The restaurant in the Palace was good - light and airy and not too big. The staff were all really lovely, and the maitre d' Juan was exceptional. Mum and I have to eat gluten free and every morning we were brought fresh hot bread rolls, and before lunch and dinner we were given a printed copy of the menu with the gluten free options marked up for us - and that was most items, so we didn't have to worry about a thing or ask questions. In fact, there was loads of choice generally. The food is surely simple, but it has a nice Spanish accent to it and I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't find something to eat here. There was also always one item being cooked fresh at the show cooking station - which ranged from fish to chicken and pork to beef. Breakfast selection was good, even if the full English wasn't perfect and the eggs and bacon were occasionally cooler than we might have liked. One thing I like about the resort is that you have a choice of two bars, two pool areas, etc. The main pool area is quite attractive and there is also a sun terrace outside the Palace restaurant perfect for sunbathing at the peak of the day on the three or four days when the sun had his hat on. There is also a simple indoor pool and jacuzzi and gym, not a bad diversion for a cloudier day. The bars themselves aren't the most atmospheric of places and the local drinks vary in quality from basic to quite nice, but it's nice to have the choice and overall the staff are helpful and generous with their measures. Entertainment centred around easy listening music fodder or Spanish style music, and hotel entertainment generally just isn't my thing and not why I go on holiday, but the bars came alive at night with dancing which my mum loved. We were impressed one night to have Martin Kent on stage which was a nice surprise and a change from the tedium for me. There are quieter rooms for playing cards and games if you want to avoid the entertainment. Location is just about perfect. It is barely a 5 minute stroll to the beach or to the start of the shopping area and 10 mins into the Old Town proper. The main Avda Europa bus stop is close, and you can even make it back downhill from the train (tram) station in a 20+ minute brisk walk. Other guests were mainly Spanish. There was also a fairly large contingent of Dutch and British were more of a minority although we were far from the only ones. If you want somewhere with more of a Spanish menu and feel and get more of a sense of being in Spain, this is a great, clean, central choice. If you have gluten free dietary needs or aren't an overly fussy eater, I don't think you could do better at the price. I'll definitely be back. Collapse

Came here for my birthday and loved it! The hotel is right in the middle of everything. Close to the beach, bars, restaurants and shops. It's great for groups and families and there is entertainment of a night time. Would recommend :)

My Grandmother & I came here for a 10 day break & there isn't a single thing I could say that's bad about this hotel, the location, the staff, cleanliness of rooms, food etc we're all superb. The only downside to this holiday was my Grandmother sadly passing away but the hotel staff & guests were unbelievably helpful & understanding, they couldn't do enough to ensure I was alright & if I needed anything no matter what. I can never thank them enough for everything they did for me during that difficult time Collapse
