Fabulously sited hotel with great views over the cove. Our room seemed to be one of the smallest in the hotel. We had to ask for a blind in the bathroom. Just because a room overlooks the car park shouldn't mean no window coverings - there was also the problem that the outside fire escape could be accessed from the ground as well as above. The manner in which it was positioned meant that anyone using it could see straight into the bathroom. The hotel seemed to be well appointed for families though and I assume that would be a major attraction for some. Staff were friendly & pleasant though service in the restaurant was somewhat slow (not enough staff). Overall, a pleasant but overpriced stay. Collapse

It's billed as a family friendly hotel and we could instantly see why. The reviews for the hotel are good and so was our welcome. Very friendly from the outset and couldn't have been more helpful. The room was basic but very spacious and, unusually for most hotels, had plenty of plug sockets. The only negative at all was that the water temperature of our shower was a tad variable at times, but usable and as we were only there for 2 nights we lived with it. There are several "themed" areas or rooms in the hotel for young kids and more teenage kids. There are board games and DVDs available and the teenage room has a pool table, tabletop football, a PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and a Wii. More than enough to keep any kids from getting bored. We ate at the hotel on the first night, and whilst it would have been expensive if we were paying, we couldn't fault it. Every course was delicious and if you like fish, there are loads of locally caught options. We didn't use the pool but the grounds and hotel generally were very well kept and the views were stunning. We are planning on going back to this hotel, but maybe with the kids next time. Collapse

Staying at Mullion Cove Lodge retreat we popped in for a light lunch & to enquire about any last minute availability for a massage. The view was incredible, the sun shone and we got so warm we had to move from the floor to ceiling windows to one of the big comfy sofas. Sandwiches were great and was anything but light! Kept us going all day. Could have stayed looking out to sea for several hours, we lost ourselves in the relaxation. Reception lady was extremely helpful. Restaurant waiting team friendly & polite. We really enjoyed our experience and are now looking to come and stay. Collapse

The wife took me here for my birthday treat. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of Mullion village which has two friendly pubs serving good beers. We were looked after very well in the Hotel particularly by Kim in reception and Jade in the restaurant. The food was good although we had an inordinate wait for breakfast (20 mins for main food) but that may not be the norm. We were given room 124 which has a double aspect sea view. Not the biggest room we have stayed in and the bathroom could do with an update but it was clean and warm. The Hotel made us very welcome and went the extra mile for my birthday celebrations so would recommend. Collapse

We absolutely loved this hotel, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind with the kids and our dog. We knew that we had made the right choice when we sat down and watched the sunset from the lounge area which had the most incredible views of the amazingly wild Cornish sea whilst the winds whipped around the building; we sat, read, drank, ate and played games with the kids-pure bliss! The staff were incredibly attentive and the staff in the den were just brilliant; our children couldn’t wait to get down there! This hotel was such a fantastic breath of fresh air and it was so nice to know that we were all welcome there. We will definitely be back. Thank you! Collapse

We stayed here in February just for the weekend. Lovely hotel - really individual, well kept and excellent service. It is a family hotel, but as we stayed just as adults in February (not half term) this didn't bother us, but it was very geared up for children so in the holidays I can imagine it wouldn't be great if you didn't have children. We enjoyed the vista lounge, watched the sun set, enjoyed a drink at the end of the day before dinner. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The room was exactly as advertised - very comfortable. We stayed over a particularly cold weekend, so we asked for extra blankets as a precaution, they were brought immediately. Food was excellent, although starters were small so if you only want two courses - go for the pudding - better value for money! Waiting staff were a bit shambolic - didn't seem to have much order to who was looking after which table - but we decided that perhaps they were being trained in winter ready for the summer! Walked the coastal path - all the way to the lizard - 7 miles each way - beautiful walk, hard going though - had a cream tea in the most southern cafe in England and walked back again - good day out if you are fit enough. Would recommend this hotel to couples in winter and families all year round. Collapse

This is a late review from September last year that my son has just reminded me to write.. We stayed for 4 nights last year with our 5 year old son. We have stayed at other hotels in the group - Moonfleet and Ickworth - and adored both. We hoped for the same fab experience. The hotel is in a great spot up on the cliff looking down onto the sea. It's easy to get to and the parking is easy. Unfortunately if you've stayed at the other two I mentioned you will be disappointed. It is another building of the same ilk, in that it changed use in WW2 and had separate uses until it was turned into a hotel. But where the others have great character and charm this is just a building that has had no tlc at all. Think repulsive seventies features that are rotting away. The room had booked was terrible, it smelled and had marks everywhere, it didn't just look dirty it smelt so too. I went to reception to say so and she was lovely, she understood instantly the problem and offered a top floor 2 bedroom adjoining that was lovely, clean and bright. I don't think she was surprised to see me turn up so quickly judging by her reaction! She reduced the fee but we still had to pay hundreds extra. The staff are very willing in reception but terrible in the restaurant, even the receptionist snapped at one and apologised to me for her rudeness. And the food...oh my god, it was mostly disgusting. So much so I had to complain for the first time ever to reception about it. There was something on the breakfast plate that was supposed to be hash brown I think but you couldn't tell what it was tasting it. They did take a couple of dinners off our end bill but I think the 4 night stay cost around £1200. Pretty shocking. I've never emailed a detailed complaint before (actually I've never made an official complaint ever to any hotel or restaurant) but this was such an expensive few days for an experience that simply doesn't match the financial outlay. For the pluses the windows looking out in the lounge are nice, our room was good, the games room was good for our son and the crèche looked great for the toddlersand babies. The pool was dated but clean, it's across the car park from the hotel. I also saw the hotel were advertising stays much much cheaper that week but of course we'd already paid at booking but it does stick in your throat a little knowing you're surrounded by people paying a smidgeon that you are. I foolishly became so busy at work on my return I didn't speak on the phone to one of the managers who did suggest I ring and discuss the issues with them. I understand they had pulled in the hotel group managers the week we stayed as it was failing. I would just say consider the money you're spending staying there, I wish I had booked the Mullion Cove hotel down the road that we had stayed in a few yrs previously as its beautiful and the food is fantastic. If you're looking for the great experience this hotel group can offer you go to one of the other hotels in the group or you will be sorely disappointed! Collapse
