We had a great stay at the Polurrian. It was just a shame that Superbreak had not notified the Hotel of our stay, and they were not expecting us. This despite the fact that I had booked the room through Superbreak some weeks earlier. Luckily the hotel still had a room and it did have a seaview-but only a side one, rather than the front we had hoped for. However the staff there made up for the inefficiency of our booking not being sent on. Lucky they had space wasn't it! Hotel-warm, comfortable, enjoyable leisure facilities, lovely food, super gardens and ideal location. Collapse

I took my parents to the hotel for four nights to celebrate their Emerald wedding anniversary. We stayed in a large superior sea view room and an accessibility room. Both rooms were wonderfully equipped and cared for during our entire stay. The accessibility facilities were excellent, allowing my parents to be fully independent. The food was wonderful, we tried things we had never had before and thoroughly enjoyed them. All the staff in the restaurant were so friendly and helpful. The views from the restaurant are amazing, we saw the most beautiful sunsets. We loved the biscuits with coffee and tea so much we ordered a batch to take home, which the chef made fresh for us before we left. The reception staff are amazing. They are so helpful and friendly. My father uses a wheelchair for longer distances, they got him a lovely blanket to have over his knees as it was quite windy while we were on days out. I’ve read some poor reviews on this site about this hotel. I travel the world with my job and have never stayed in such a friendly and well run hotel. I could think of no other hotel that would have cared for us so wonderfully during the entire stay Collapse
Found a gem.

From the moment we set foot in reception and were greeted by the lovely Holly we could not have been made more welcome and immediately felt at home. Sadly we were only there for one night, as a birthday treat for me, but can honestly say the whole experience was wonderful, from the staff to the facilities and the food everything was so much more than we could have hoped for. We will definitely be returning as soon as we can. What a fabulous find and right on our doorstep. Well done Polurrian Bay, your staff are a delight and this was hospitality at its very best. Thank you for a wonderful birthday Collapse

Staying at Mullion Cove Lodge retreat we popped in for a light lunch & to enquire about any last minute availability for a massage. The view was incredible, the sun shone and we got so warm we had to move from the floor to ceiling windows to one of the big comfy sofas. Sandwiches were great and was anything but light! Kept us going all day. Could have stayed looking out to sea for several hours, we lost ourselves in the relaxation. Reception lady was extremely helpful. Restaurant waiting team friendly & polite. We really enjoyed our experience and are now looking to come and stay. Collapse

The wife took me here for my birthday treat. The Hotel is within easy walking distance of Mullion village which has two friendly pubs serving good beers. We were looked after very well in the Hotel particularly by Kim in reception and Jade in the restaurant. The food was good although we had an inordinate wait for breakfast (20 mins for main food) but that may not be the norm. We were given room 124 which has a double aspect sea view. Not the biggest room we have stayed in and the bathroom could do with an update but it was clean and warm. The Hotel made us very welcome and went the extra mile for my birthday celebrations so would recommend. Collapse

This is a late review from September last year that my son has just reminded me to write.. We stayed for 4 nights last year with our 5 year old son. We have stayed at other hotels in the group - Moonfleet and Ickworth - and adored both. We hoped for the same fab experience. The hotel is in a great spot up on the cliff looking down onto the sea. It's easy to get to and the parking is easy. Unfortunately if you've stayed at the other two I mentioned you will be disappointed. It is another building of the same ilk, in that it changed use in WW2 and had separate uses until it was turned into a hotel. But where the others have great character and charm this is just a building that has had no tlc at all. Think repulsive seventies features that are rotting away. The room had booked was terrible, it smelled and had marks everywhere, it didn't just look dirty it smelt so too. I went to reception to say so and she was lovely, she understood instantly the problem and offered a top floor 2 bedroom adjoining that was lovely, clean and bright. I don't think she was surprised to see me turn up so quickly judging by her reaction! She reduced the fee but we still had to pay hundreds extra. The staff are very willing in reception but terrible in the restaurant, even the receptionist snapped at one and apologised to me for her rudeness. And the food...oh my god, it was mostly disgusting. So much so I had to complain for the first time ever to reception about it. There was something on the breakfast plate that was supposed to be hash brown I think but you couldn't tell what it was tasting it. They did take a couple of dinners off our end bill but I think the 4 night stay cost around £1200. Pretty shocking. I've never emailed a detailed complaint before (actually I've never made an official complaint ever to any hotel or restaurant) but this was such an expensive few days for an experience that simply doesn't match the financial outlay. For the pluses the windows looking out in the lounge are nice, our room was good, the games room was good for our son and the crèche looked great for the toddlersand babies. The pool was dated but clean, it's across the car park from the hotel. I also saw the hotel were advertising stays much much cheaper that week but of course we'd already paid at booking but it does stick in your throat a little knowing you're surrounded by people paying a smidgeon that you are. I foolishly became so busy at work on my return I didn't speak on the phone to one of the managers who did suggest I ring and discuss the issues with them. I understand they had pulled in the hotel group managers the week we stayed as it was failing. I would just say consider the money you're spending staying there, I wish I had booked the Mullion Cove hotel down the road that we had stayed in a few yrs previously as its beautiful and the food is fantastic. If you're looking for the great experience this hotel group can offer you go to one of the other hotels in the group or you will be sorely disappointed! Collapse
