Frequent traveler. Hotel plaza is as described by the majority in Tripadvisor, will definitely stay here next time and strongly recommend it! * Front desk personnel were polite and helpful * Room was not large, but well appointed, beautiful "old world" curtains. Mattresses were hard, in part due to the European system with wooden slats instead of box of springs, not my favorite. * Beautiful and large bathroom with bathtub and plenty of room. Well equipped. Attention to detail and the best towels we got in Italy: thin linen for the face, thick new cotton ones for hands and body. * Clean and tidy throughout, very important item for us. * Reception area was small but sufficient. Design is modern (particularly liked finding my Bauhaus chairs there, Wassily and Marc Stam), with several sitting areas. * Hotel includes a large late hours restaurant. Gourmet presentation, unique recipes. Service was slow at 9:00 pm, but place was full, so it made sense. Very good food and reasonably priced, particularly considering how bad and expensive food was throughout Venice. * Hotel includes business area and a well appointed large banquet/events floor. * BEST FEATURE: BREAKFAST! As pointed out by other visitors, amazing. The space is clean, bright and large, in a modern, minimalist style. Breakfast is buffet, and starts early. There were several (possibly 4?) machines that delivered hot drinks in 15 seconds, including 10 types of coffee, hot chocolate, frothed milk, capuccino, machiatto, etc. Best coffee we tried, and we drunk a lot in our trip! They also have several juice machines through the room, with several options of delicious drinks. Plenty of fresh food in attractive display. Staff kept area clean and serving trays full. Ceramic and steel silverware, no disposable ones. Cold options included the fullest cereal and yogurt bar I've seen, including dry and fresh fruits, nuts, and several types of cereals. Also a large variety of pies, pastries, cheeses and sandwich meats. Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, boiled eggs, hot white rice, small salad tomatoes, and I'm sure I forget something. We appreciated the chance to get a good full meal before hitting the roads of Venice, but also enjoyed the experience itself. * SECOND BEST FEATURE: LOCATION! Regardless of what others may say, we think this is the best location for tourists. Only 15 mins away from the airport, and across the train station, it allowed us to get our luggage into our rooms in less than an hour of arrival, and go explore Venice immediately. It takes 8-10 mins to be in Venice via train, and we strongly recommend that. We have seen tourists that chose hotels in Venice, dragging their luggage for blocks on the stone paved roads, only to get lost and keep on dragging weight. keep in mind there are no cars in Venice! I can't imagine doing the same at 6 am through the dark roads and bridges, trying to find out the way to the vaporetto or train station. For us it was inexpensive, and effortless. * CONS: Can only think of one, but very typical in Italy: only two elevators, this made traffic slow in the mornings but otherwise not an issue. In sum, great hotel for the price, great service, best breakfast in Venice, kind service, convenient, safe location, absolutely recommend it! I will add photos as soon as I get them from the ipad. The hotel is in an excellent location, across from railway station although Mestre doesn't look very appealing. Friendly staff, clean, spacious rooms and the Soul Kitchen restaurant serves good food again friendly efficient staff. The breakfast is adequate. Would recommend the hotel for a stay in Venice. Train fares are 1euro 25 cents to Venice, trains frequent, remember to validate your ticket on the platform otherwise it is a big fine Collapse

My fiancé and I were here just last week! We initially were booked into a hotel just around the corner - it was awful! At 11pm we went online and booked 2 nights at the Plaza and couldn't have been more happier! The man on reception was so genuine and lovely and couldn't do enough for us, he could see we were clearly distressed about the scenes we had seen at the previous hotel and knew it was our first time in Venice and didn't want us to go away thinking the worst! He upgraded us to a newly refurbished room and it was BEAUTIFUL! The bed was so big and the shower was amazing and everything was just WOW! The breakfast was great and the location is exceptional, 2 minutes to the train and 4 minutes to the bus that took us back to the airport! Could not recommend this enough! Had the best weekend and it was all due to this hotel and their staff! Thank you so much - oh and we even got a breakfast bag at 6am for our trip home! Collapse
