The hotel is clean but all has been planned for German speaking vistors and the food do not even close to be spanish in any way. I would not reccommend non german speaking visitors. Staff is polite but again approach is based on German speaking visitors. The price level for a half board solution is not worth the money compared with breakfast only. Collapse

We stayed in this Hotel in September for a week with friends. Having read the reviews previously it’s clear that there are differing opinions of this Hotel, so this review will add to this with my opinion and reference to the comments made on previous reviews. We arranged pick up from the airport via the Hotel - no issues We stayed in the separate Suites block, initially we had an issue with the two suites not being close to each other as requested, but this was sorted out quickly and efficiently. We had no problems at all with the language spoken by the staff, as previous reviews have mentioned the Hotel is mainly frequented by Germans, but once staff realised we were English, they switched to English with no issues. The Germans were friendly and apart from looking surprised to hearing English spoken and looking at you as though you were some sort of alien being, never an issue, and actually quite amusing. I can’t comment on the apartments or the hotel rooms but the Suites were very modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, the air con worked well [and quietly] the large flat screen TV had English channels [BBC/ITV etc.] And we found the WIFI better in the suite than elsewhere on site, although it was always adequate for email/Facebook etc. if you felt the need. The Balcony was small but with a couple of chairs and a table was very pleasant to sit out on. The cleaning staff were very good when you come back to the room it was like you just arrived, no issues there. The complex itself is huge, again spotlessly clean, pools are in very nice settings, but, at least when we were there largely unused, there is a supermarket on site which is very handy for essentials and three café/bars which were very good for coffee and lunchtime food/ice cream etc., and we never had a problem getting seats. There are literally hundreds of sunbeds, never an issue in getting four at a time and no need to reserve, although we had a laugh at some guests who seems to think this was a ritual thing to do and needed beds that were within 10 yards of their accommodation. The beach is on the doorstep, soft sand, very shallow water, small waves and very warm, ideal for kids, sunbeds/parasols for hire if required , we stayed on the beach in the main tending to go close to the water sports area, very nice atmosphere, you can watch people falling off windsurfers and paddle boards all day, I tried the paddle boards and spent most of the time doing exactly that but great fun in the shallow water, it was 15 euro for an hour, not bad I didn’t think. We just went to one of the Hotel cafés for coffee/water/lunch, a 30 second walk away. Entertainment in the evening was pretty much standard fare, some better than others but entertaining nonetheless for a couple of hours with drinkies, the Spanish Elvis however was in a different class, so bad he was the best act of the week. Now, the biggest talking point… the food, this was buffet style, a free for all at breakfast with continental foods and bacon, eggs [boiled/fried/scrambled] and even baked beans, loads of it and hot. For dinner [long trousers please gents] you were allocated a table on your first day which you kept for the length of your stay, wine/drinks were signed for as expected, any surplus wine was kept and put out on you table the next day. I can honestly say the food was excellent huge different selection every day, salads, soups, pasta, local Majorcan dishes, international dishes, steaks, and what looked like 10 different ways to cook potato, large selection of sweets and ice cream, all changed immediately it ran out and kept hot. Plates cleared as you went by the very friendly and efficient staff. When you consider the size of the complex and the amount of guests going through the restaurant it must be a logistical nightmare, but, at least for us, we could not fault it at all. Outside of the Hotel there are the usual shops selling tourist tat and several restaurants, which we didn’t use as were half board but all looked good. There is a good cocktail bar 3 mins walk away, which we did use frequently…. To visit places further afield we hired a car, there are car hire places opposite the hotel, as an example we got a Peugeot soft top for 50 Euro a day, Alcudia and port d’Alcudia are easily reached by bus which stops outside the hotel, they do get crowded at times however. Alcudia old town is well worth a visit, we went twice, once on Sunday which was market day and it was rammed with stalls selling everything from traditional leather/textile goods to as many knock off Michael Kors/Mulberry handbags and purses that you can fit in your luggage on the way home, non market days were a lot quieter, narrow streets, lots of local shops, café’s and restaurants to visit all of a good standard. Port d’Alcudia is just up the coast and is where the bulk of the nightlife is, plenty of places to eat and a few shops. Port de Pollenca, is a little further away but still worth a visit, similar to Port d’Alcudia. Palma, we had a cloudy day so decided on Palma, beautiful city, everything you would expect, took about 50 minutes to get there, good roads and plenty of parking, upmarket shops galore, if you like Majorcan pearls then go no further. Several historic places of interest including the Cathedral on the hill, horse and carriage rides and the city buzz, fantastic day out. So there you go, we had a great week, would I recommend this Hotel? Yes, without a doubt, would we go back? Yes, Alcudia is a lovely part of the island and nothing is too far away if you want to make the effort and the Hotel is on the beach if you don’t. Collapse
Great hotel, fantastic location, very helpful staff - the prevalence of mosquitos rules out a return stay for me!

Firstly I should just say this is a very personal experience of this hotel, which I loved in almost every respect, but coming home with 20 mosquito bites from a 10 day holiday was just too much for a sunshine break. I only went out after dark on one occasion, majority of the bites occurred during the day. We travelled with Thomsons to this hotel, arriving by taxi around 6pm - whilst the reception staff were friendly and helpful, helping us take our cases to the other building where the suites were, there was no welcome drink at reception and no complimentary water in our room. Room 2502 was comfortable, very clean and spacious but the modern layout of the bathroom with a glass door on the toilet took a bit of getting used too. The walk-in shower was a boon for my mother who needs two sticks to walk. Room was cleaned daily (usually early afternoon) and towels were changed daily. The balcony got the sun all morning until about 2.30pm, but the very friendly bar "Balneario 2" across the car park, on the edge of beach got the sun until closing at 6pm. The downside to the view from the suites is the fact it overlooks the service road for the hotel, receiving deliveries for the restaurant at many points during the day from refrigerated trucks - easily drowned out with an iPod. My Mum and I are both vegetarian but didn't struggle finding things to eat at dinner, if we didn't fancy the main vegetarian option there was always the pasta station with sauces served separately. I had messaged the hotel in advance about my Mum's walking difficulties and the Maitre D and head waitress had reserved us a great table near to the buffet. The hotel has mainly German guests (around 80% according to the receptionist) who seemed friendly enough. Thomsons (UK) reps do not visit the hotel but there is an information book near to the restaurant. There is not much in the vicinity within walking distance - a Spar shop, bar/restaurant and a lovely Italian restaurant (Italia Restaurant & Pizzeria) but that is about it. Collapse

Location: +++ Directly on the beautiful beach! ++ Alcudia old town only 20 min drive a way. Palma is only ca. 40 min away as there is a direct highway. -- The street where the hotel is offers some restaurants and some small shops, but not that much. The beautiful ones are closest in Alcudia. - - Beach can be very, very crowded, apparently even in September!! Hotel: Esperanza hotel is big, three buildings: Hotel rooms, suites and apartments. If you book a suite as we did, the apartments building does not know about it. + Small supermarket in the hotel is very practical. + Parking is available for the suites in a separate area (not directly on the street outside). ++ Bike rentals shop directly in front of the hotel. Windsurfing, catamaran and sup board rental shop directly on the beach behind the hotel. Rooms: + We felt very, very comfortable in the large suite. It had a separate bedroom and a sofa area. The room was a lot better than shown in the hotel photos. Nice to have a proper desk also. ++ TV channels and WiFi worked very well (not obvious). + Balkony is quite small, but had a side view to the sea and felt very nice and provided privacy. + Large garderobes, very nice bathroom. Food: + Dining room has huge windows showing to the seaside. + Both for breakfast and dinner there is very much food to choose from! Most of it is very tasty. +++ There is a broad ranges of different SALAD MIXES to choose from. +++ Especially the DESSERTS were stunning. + The lady managing the tables has it all organized when the crowd turns up. - There are a lot of people having breakfast and dining, it is not that peaceful but well organised. Service: + Professional. We loved the room, sports and the beach. We are glad to return, but might also choose another hotel as the majority of the guests were quite a bit older than we (we are 40). If you are planning a trip to Playa de Muro - then do not look past Hotel Playa Esperanza, situated on the beach front! Upon entering this beautiful resort, you will immediately feel on Vacation! The staff at Playa Esperanza are exceptional! From Reception, to the cleaners - the staff are very friendly and will go far & beyond to make you feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and include all the usual amenities including FREE wifi, bar fridge, cable tv, safe & nice toiletries. My room included a balcony and beautiful view of the beach! Half board was also included in my room rate (breakfast & dinner), which includes a huge buffet style selection! The menu is changed daily and there are so many delicious choices... you will not leave hungry! There is an outdoor pool, with joining bar/restaurant, indoor pool, spa, kids room & hotel supermarket (which is cheaper than the main one across the road) ! There is also a separate outdoor bar, where you can enjoy the live entertainment provided by the Hotel. The beach is connected directly to the Hotel, where you can rent your own beach chair (10 Euro) for the whole day.. but make sure you get in early to secure a good spot! After a splash, you can purchase fresh fruit & drinks from the locals as they walk up and down the beach! The beach chairs come with an Umbrella with an attached safety box where you may store small valuables, cash, sunglasses etc. Playa Esperanza is sitauted 45 mins from the Majorca (PMI) International Airport and has everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. A big thank you to all the staff that made my stay so enjoyable - especially Doreen and the beautiful reception staff - Gracias! Collapse
