I’ve stayed at PH several times over several years & tho I wasn’t a huge fan because of the ear deafening hard rock music in the casino that starts at 8PM, I couldn’t wait to give it another shot. My daughter & I, who had separate comped rooms, checked in with Kathy at diamond registration. I was offered & reserved the new ultra resort room, smoking, with no problem. When she handed us our keys I see it’s on the 6th floor. I asked if there was a higher floor available & was told “there were no smoking rooms on higher floors”. Well, she should know. We get to our rooms & the 6th floor is basically the 1st floor! I knew immediately I wouldn’t be able to open my drapes, day or night, cuz maintenance personnel would be walking by the windows! No way would I sit in a dark room with drapes closed the next 4 days! I couldn’t believe there’s no smoking rooms on other floors, so I called the front desk & was told there are others. In all my 31 years of staying at many different Vegas hotels I’ve never complained about a room, so back to registration I go to tell them our rooms are unacceptable. Kathy was at lunch, so another young lady, who I’m sorry I didn’t get her name, worked her magic & put us on the 51st floor! What Kathy didn’t mention was..there’s no ultra resort rooms higher than the 6th floor! If she would have told us that to begin with I would have settled for an UNremodeled room. What a waste of a $20 tip for Kathy. I was a little surprised the top floor was an old, dingy room. Chipped furniture...no clock radio, just a clock with military time (what?)...I had to keep playing with the toilet handle to keep it from running constantly...bathroom tv didn’t work! The only good part of the room was the amazing view of the Bellagio fountains..coffee pot & fridge, most comfy bed & pillows, plus I called down for a regular clock radio & got it quickly. Music still blared starting at 8PM, but you could find a couple quiet areas, tho limited to playing machines. I’ve never seen such filthy areas around machines which looked like they only cleaned once a day. If you find an ash tray, take it with to other machines cuz obviously PH can’t afford more than a couple here & there. The buffet was terrible with limited food options than past years & half the seating closed in by walls. The old Planet Dailies was reopened my second day in & is now called Cafe Hollywood. It’s beautiful, but the prices skyrocketed! Breakfast for 2...omelettes, sides of bacon & large milks for $60!! Seriously? Plus, their breakfast potatoes are exactly the same as KFC potato wedges before noon & French fries noon-midnight, no hash browns! I guess you could tell by this review I’ll never be back to PH!
