My husband and I stayed in Perla Marina for a wedding. We had never been to Nerja as mostly holidayed in the more commercialised Add to dictionary but never again. Nerja is just the most beautiful gem and so upmarket yet not expensive. From the moment we stepped into the Perla Marina we felt so welcomed. Reception staff Alex, Carolina and Jose were so helpful and friendly. Our room was in the main building on the first floor and I will never forget opening the curtains when entering the room and there was the vista of the Mediterranean spread out before us with nothing only the beach and prom dividing us. All we could hear drifting off to sleep nightly was the crashing of the waves and it was so beautiful and relaxing. The hotel itself well what can we say, exceptional, friendly, dining room and bar staff all with a smile and actually took time to talk with you. Our rooms and the entire hotel was so clean, linen changed whenever you requested, towel changed daily, room cleaned daily and all the little extras in the bathroom replenished daily. There was always such a beautiful scent wafting through the public areas. I just cant say enough about this hotel except we will certainly be returning if health allows. We travelled with Cassidy Travel from Ireland and the service was just so professional. We had been apprehensive as we normally travel by booking all ourselves but Cassidy Travel were extremely good and great value for money. Back to the hotel, no matter what you asked for from a kettle for your room to an ironing board or extra pillows, everything was no problem. I would also like to say thanks to Maria who looked after our room on first floor and provided me with that extra pillow, wish I had asked her earlier in the week. Very sad leaving as hotel and Nerja was the most beautiful place and it was just so quiet and relaxing no mad lunatics flying up and down the streets on those noisy mopeds. Lots of beautiful restaurants in the vicinity that you could sit out at and enjoy peace from traffic noise. I have to mention Oasis of Marrakeesh and Curry House just round the corner from hotel, just try these restaurants, you will not be disappointed. Everything within five minute walking distance, supermarkets, daily papers, if going again now I know the area, I would not bother carrying toothpaste etc. in luggage, everything available in the supermarket across the road. The Balclon is only 15 minutes walk along the beautiful hotel promenade. I have mobility issues and I can honestly say that they even think of placing seat benches about every few steps along the prom and then the lovely little squares and the cleanliness. The shopping is unbelievable in the centre. The Christmas gift sets were already on sale in Primor the perfume shop that I found on Calle Pirade and guess what Boss new perfume The Scent set including 50ml Eau du Toilette plus spare perfume and body cream a whopping Euro 49.95 per set, even cheaper than the duty free at either Dublin or Malaga airports. The place is full of aids for people with reduced mobility that really impressed me to other places I have visited. Lots of people going round on those little mobility scooters so obviously you can hire them. I know this is a long review but I just had to do both Perla Marina and Neja justice. The only downside I can think of is that both pools at the hotel were 1.4 metrs deep and I need to do a pool based physio programme a couple of times weekly and need to feel the pool floor so if anyone can tell me where to find a pool around 1.3 metres in depth in Nerja, please let me know, however, this will not stop me returning as the stunning location and walking that beautiful promenade will always stay in my memory. Adios until the next time Perla Marina and Nerja. Collapse

We have been going to Perla Marina for a number of years and it has gradually gone into decline. The service and cleanliness are still excellent but this year we noticed it needs a refurbishment. Another point is we had to use tea plates for our breakfast. I usually have the same breakfast every year but this year it was awkward to fit on the plate (Slice toast, scrambled egg, two rashers of bacon and a couple of cooked slices of tomato). I appreciate why they do this but it was still a put off. Apparently they are now serving dinner on the same size plates. Unfortunately we will not be returning next year. Collapse

Stayed here for a week with my partner, the rooms were quite spacious and our requests were fulfilled without any hassle! 10 minute walk to the centre, location very good. The reception staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was slightly odd but nothing inedible. The rooftop pool was very clean, very quiet, relaxing, and there was never a problem getting a space for a sun lounger. Only thing that could be improved is the cleanliness of the rooms. Our towels and sheets were changed on request which is good, however I didn't notice any mopping or sweeping. All in all, a good hotel for its location and would visit again for the price. Collapse

Great check-in and even at 10.30pm reception offered to open up the dining room so we could have something to eat, it was too late for us to eat but a nice touch. Room was over from the main hotel on 4th floor, big room and bathroom but no balcony only sliding door and railing but beautiful views over the mountains and in the morning we realised we were only steps from the roof top sun Terrace and pool which was very quiet most of the week we were there and the views to the sea, beach and mountains was stunning! Breakfast was great every day and always very busy but no trouble getting a table. Choice was not that big but always plenty. Dinner on the other hand was decidedly average only 2 star of the and not at all well presented, always meat, chicken and fish but the veg had been cooked since the previous week and was always lukewarm, always chips but they never looked appetising. Just go B & B if you can. Area around the hotel was lovely, some residential streets too, beach was beautiful. Didn't spend anytime in the hotel main building at all as there was so much more to see on the way up to the main squares and the Balcony, and lots of bars and restaurants a short walk from the hotel. Nerja is a beautiful Spanish town with lots to see and beaches to visit. It was a lovely visit and much as the hotel was lovely there are lots of other hotels to stay in too. Collapse
