I recently stayed here for one night at a two day business convention. The reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms were basic but clean, comfortable with the usual refreshments available. I would have given this stay 5 stars but didn't because of two reasons. In the bathroom and washrooms of the hotel were pump dispensers filled with 'Dove' products which I found to be slimy and and a bit impersonal especially in the hotel room bathroom. The other reason is on the first day of my convention we went into one of the eateries that served 'Costa' drinks and light bites such as sandwiches and soup. The advertisement for the sandwiches said that they were served with Kettle crisps. The sandwich arrived with 'Doritos' which both myself and some of my colleagues do not like as they are loaded with MSG. I queried with a member of the serving staff who insisted that they were Kettle crisps. I could not be bothered to argue the point but they were definitely Doritos, so a bit of false advertising there and not much customer satisfaction! I have attached a picture of the sandwich and 'Kettle' crisps to my review. The sandwich was just 2 pieces of normal brown bread with slices of cheese and some beetroot pickle - I could have made it look more presentable myself! At least they could have maybe grated the cheese! Very poor. Whilst I was waiting for my sandwich there was a lady speaking broken English and obviously finding it difficult to count out English money. The young girl serving here did not assist her one bit and intact looked as though she was being inconvenienced by this! The staff in this part of the hotel were rude, unhelpful and looked miserable. I will be at another convention at this hotel in October so hope things change by then! Collapse
Lovely accommodation but still have to pay for parking?

With a sauna, steam room, pool, bar and lovely rooms the only fault I could possibly find was that there was still a parking charge for guests staying overnight. Other than that, excellent staff and facilities!

My girlfriendand I stopped for one night on Sunday 4th june as we were going to a gig at the very nearby Roadmender and have to say we really enjoyed our stay ,the staff were very helpful and polite ,check in was simple and when we got to our room (607) we were very pleased , very clean and had every thing we needed, I went for a quick swim in the pool in the afternoon and loved it . we ate in the bar and the food and service was very good , the Roadmender was very close and after a good night came back to bar and enjoyed a late drink, breakfast was very good , so all in all we had a great stay and will without doubt stop here again next time we come to the Roadmender . Stayed here recently. Problem with checkin - booking should have been charged when reservation was made, but wasn't despite it clearly saying so on the printed confirmation. Rooms clean and well appointed with tea, coffee, safe, ironing board and hair dryer. Bathroom clean with amenities from Dove. Bed appeared to be 2 singles pushed together rather than a queen size bed as advertised. Had a burger in the bar in the evening. Good service and food well presented. It's also worth mentioning in front of the property is a small park which attracts drug users. Be aware, as later in the evening they were throwing stones into the hotel car park. Told reception but don't know if the duty manager was informed or if the incident was even reported to the Police. Breakfast the following morning was very good with professional staff and dishes cleared quickly. Good selection on the buffet but no Danish Pasteries or potato/hash browns! I do recommend the hotel but be mindful the reservation system doesn't do what it says, the beds aren't what is advertised and be careful around the hotel grounds at night. Collapse
