I stayed here when using up some Club Carlson points before they expired. It's situated on a main road but a bit awkward if using public transport as not near the train station and served by an irregular bus service. The hotel was undergoing building work when I stayed so was surrounded by scaffolding but my room was situated where I wasn't disturbed by any building noise. The reception was dark with poor lighting but large enough with a small seating area, information about the local area, toilets and the receptionist was friendly. Check-in was quick. The signage to the rooms were a little misleading as it's not clear which arrow was associated with which numbers. There are long corridors so you may have to do lots of walking. The room was an OK size with a hanging unit that have 1 drawer instead of a proper wardrobe, iron & ironing board, tea/coffee facility, freeview TV and a safe. I had a premium room which I think only added the dressing gown & slippers, a plate of fresh fruit & chocolates and 2 bottles of still & sparkling water. The bed was a standard double but comfortable. The room was in need of refurbishment and had damp in a corner. There was a bar area and a restaurant which I could use my tastecard in. The restaurant was large with plenty of seating areas. It was quiet when I went in the evening so only 1 waitress who was attentive. The food was well presented and tasty. This same restaurant was used for breakfast the next morning which was more busy but still only 1 elderly waitress which I felt could have done with help. The breakfast was buffet style and had both hot and cold selections but the waitress found it hard to replenish the selections in a timely manner when finished so patience was needed. There was also cereals, danishes, breads, yogurts, fresh fruit, coffee machine and a good selection of juices including fresh carrot juice. The unusual thing was packet noodles with condiments which I thought was a bit odd for breakfast. There was a pleasant outdoor garden courtyard with tables & chairs The best thing was the spa. You can attend any of the classes for free so I did Zumba and a body conditioning class. There was also available treatments and a massage at an extra cost. The swimming pool was large and not too cold with a hot jacuzzi that comfortably fits 4, a steam room, a sauna and a gym. The swimming pool also had aqua classes at no extra cost. In the weekday morning I had the whole area to myself as it was not busy but the evening was packed, especially the gym so avoid. Collapse

We stayed here by mistake as we thought we had booked into a Radisson Blu, on arrival we quickly realised our mistake, poorly maintained car park rambling around a 70's building. Reception staff were pleasant at check in, untidy mess behind the reception desk. Room was clean but carpet was dirty, bathroom was clean and t-v worked. After along drive we went to the bar for a drink, dirty tired chairs and sticky tables, couldn't even Russel up some lemon for a gin and tonic. Bed was really so uncomfortable almost impossible to sleep. Awoken at 1am by a fire alarm, which was silenced after about 30secs. Swimming pool was cloudy and not nice Breakfast was ok, but staff were poor, no one to welcome us, scrambled eggs had white globules in it and was disgusting. Check out ok, but staff not friendly. Give this place a miss, we paid £80 per room, better to go down the road to the Premier Inn. This hotel is damaging the Radisson Brand Collapse
